Actually, at some places, like the yong Tau foo stalls, they have the Hakka mee for $1.5 a plate. Sometimes the boss won't let you buy mee only. You need to add yong tao fu at 50¢ a piece.
It's cheap.
MSG has less sodium content than table salt too. So it is in fact healthier than just using salt.
