Woah, don’t misquote me, I didn’t say that! I said that while we still talk about some work and legal stuff, we don’t hang out as friends anymore. I did float the idea to aiken but until he’s ready I won’t force it. I am very open to working w them again, but the ball is not in my court :)
Have tried danlao before and imo it lives up to the hype. Unique dish with soft silky eggs and I like the fried chicken cutlet too. It’s not mindblowing but definitely comfort food!
the tomatoes probably have to be cooked further prior, like perhaps roasted or something to reduce its water content, before getting fried in with the egg.
Even I stay so near I also won't purposely come down to eat. I rather go next door Udders eat ice cream or the small coffeeshop also next door to eat cheap & good Chilli Crab. Ms Tam Chiak coffee shop got a lot to live up to
There is a wanton Mee at Bedok north street 3 block 537 or 538 market, called Ah Kiat wanton Mee, and for someone who has been eating it for years I’ve found it quite a solid staple of breakfast Hope y’all can go down to try one day!
Hey OverKill Team, sorry but just a small suggestion... are you able to tone down on the colour grading / saturation on the food shots? It is kind of distracting because it makes it a bit hard to see the actual dish colour 😅 Hard to judge the colour of the char siew in the wanton mee cos it is such a bright red🙈 Thank you!
Tried the Ji Ji Wanton noodle. Well, it cannot make it to my top 3. Sorry not my type. Blamed me on eating those wanton noodle prepared by ma-jie in my early years and it has since based my taste on that.

Not really. I understand the perception when brands start to branch out - cause I also have that perception - but the original owners are there n they still cook w the same recipe, but what changed is the cost of ingredient drastically increased over covid to a level that it’s quite ridiculous, there was this period where our oil and eggs increased 30% in cost over the course of one month - I still think is still one of the best, but I don’t eat frequently anymore due to health issues and also eating too many times - but can assure u that it’s same recipe w same owners - nothing changed apart from the cost. I know it won’t convinced u cause I was once like that too, but after experiencing n witnessing it myself, I can outright say that it’s the exact same thing haha

Why feature Dan Lao if it’s not that good anyway? To prove to people that it’s all hype? If it’s not nice, share with the stall owners privately on what you think can be done better. If they do improve because of your feedback, good for them & good for us consumers. This is how we can help & encourage the young hawkers. Anyway, shouldn’t you be featuring good food places that you want to recommend only? The impression I had was that you are there to 拆招牌 & doing this video for your own gains. Kinda unprofessional isn’t it?
We did said in the video that we saw the hype for Dan Lao so we wanted to try. We are here to review and we are honest because we don’t want to deceive our audience. But again, taste is subjective, it might not be nice to us but it’s nice to others. Maybe that day the consistency wasn’t as good. Everyone have different preferences, see some of our crew did said it’s nice! Sorry if we offended you.
