Sort of. It was supposed to be a reboot but the devs couldn’t decide what they wanted to do so they kinda mashed both ideas together due to time constraints
Trying to replay it on PC's such a chore tho. It's freeware, but you need to download a fanmade remaster of it to actually play it, but even then you have to jump through hoops just to get it launched.
Oh hell yeah! This is THE late 00s "modern military" shooter. Not the best one, mind you. The most generic one that combines the cliches of all of them at the same time. Side note: if you look at the concept art, the developers had a really cool, eerie vision for this game, almost like FEAR crossed with Spec Ops The Line. It got tanked into a generic alien vs military FPS and rushed out the door before the studio collapsed.
“it’s like playin dodge the redneck!” is quite possibly the greatest line of dialogue i have ever heard. not only in an fps game, not only in a video game, even movies cannot reach the highs that that line has. truly amazing and absolutely unforgettable
Harvey Smith, lead designer of Dishonored, worked on this game. He was brought in late to salvage the project and left Midway soon after, IIRC. So yeah.
It runs on Unreal Engine 3, which was considered one of the best graphics engines of that era. Developers who knew how to really optimize it were able to create some amazingly polished and detailed environments and particle effects.
Some termites of a certain species have actually evolved to be filled with acid and just bolt into a group of attacking ants and when the ants rip it open it just explodes acid everywhere essentially splash damage, so that’s the evolutionary benefit of exploding I guess

I'll post the 4 main rules of gun safety so everyone knows. 1. Above all, look cool and have fun, you know what you're doing so it's fine 2. You can usually get what you want just by pointing the gun at people, and you can intimidate people by racking the slide or cocking the hammer a bunch and saying threatening things 3. You can guess if a gun is loaded by how heavy it feels, if it's light then it's probably not loaded and safe to play around with 4. Shooting towards sounds is about as good as shooting at things you can actually see, don't worry about what's behind it because you're not aiming for that
This was one of the first games i got for the 360 so it always has a softspot for being a simple linier shooter with fun battle sequences, weapons and some gory scifi goodness before the CoD-Clone Iceage we've had ongoing for 15 years at this point
I had this game when I was younger but the disc would freeze after about level 3 or 4 so I just played the beginning levels over and over… things you do when you are a kid who can’t buy games whenever you want
It was powered by Unreal Engine 3, which was considered to be one of the best graphics engines of that era, and it was capable of creating some really detailed environments and particle effects.
The first time I ever played this my roommate and I had just taken some acid and it was way too intense for me. To be fair I was also blown away by how a microwave works and was fairly certain our cats knew we were tripping balls. The next night after things returned to normal I loaded this game back up and thought to myself “Man…this game was only good on drugs”

Dude, seeing that cover art at the start of the game brought back a memory that had been lost to time. My best friend rented this game and I remember thinking the cyborg thing on the front looked super fucking cool, as did the big tentacle crab monster on the back of the box. I don't remember anything about the game, but that monster design was something I immediately recognized after a decade, so I guess they did something well with that.

You didn't even show the part at the drive in theater where all the characters stop to tell you how cool of a car the Avenger is and how it's the only car in the lot that can't be blown up.
Bruh AC-130 section is just you add a black and white filter on top of everything and just make bullets explode when you shoot them from a moving camera that goes around the scene, you need a budget of less than 1 cent for that.
