I've been doing airbnb full time for the past 3 years and I'm not going back to apartment living. Pick up and go whenever you want and not being locked into a lease and tied down with a ton of furniture. Everything I own is on me. Minimal stuff. I love it.
I’ve been doing this for 3 months now. I totally prefer this if you like to travel so your not locked down into a lease requiring you to pay rent while your not even there.
How’s it been going? I love to travel I’m single no kids & just wanna up & go. I’m still trying to find out who I am. I wanna just travel work & make connections throughout the world! How’s it been for you?
Some airbnb hosts will give you anywhere from 10-50% off when you book for over a month. I am living at my current airbnb for 2 months. They had a 30% off 1 month, I messaged them and said if they had a better percentage for someone renting for 2 months and we negotiated a better price. Also, if your bringing pets for a longer stay and the place says "no pets", talk to the host about making arrangements since you are staying for a longer period. My host allowed me to bring my kitty but added a refundable damage deposit. Good luck travelers!!
i stayed in a private room in savannah georgia and the lady who lived there was so sweet and made up breakfast. plus she was a literal artist and her whole house was pretty much an art studio. AIRBNB FOR LIFFFEE
Girl when I was 19 years old I packed up a uhaul and drove it from Oregon to Colorado BY MYSELF. Don’t waste your money on movers. That is just insane. Fly out to LA with your boyfriend, pack up your stuff in a uhaul, and take a road trip back. That is just so extra.
Kay Cepeda yeah I don't understand why people use movers, I've never used one, I don't even know anyone who has used one! Lol we are moving from Oregon to Tennessee and we are driving two trucks one with a RV trailer behind it and one with a trailer that has all our crap in it. Lol
Agreed. When I moved to LA I moved everything in my car back and forth. Haha it was kinda fun though cause I felt like I had everything that was mine in my car and the feeling was kinda cool at only 18 (:
Kay Cepeda megan and fin literally just drove themselves moving everything they own and drove SEPARATELY to their new home and Lindsey is just flying her stuff out.. lol why
You are VERY smart to do this. I wish this was around 30 years ago. Many people who watch my videos want to move to Florida but they have not been here so they are not really sure where in Florida they want to live. I tell them to get rid of all their stuff, what they keep...put it into a pod and store it and stay in an Airbnb FIRST so they can walk into apartments to see if they are as good as they look online(they never are) and to see the different neighborhoods. THEN if they like the area they should rent 1 year before ever buying anything. We traveled full time for 7 months across USA and Europe in 2017 after we sold our house and put our stuff in a POD. It was the most fun we had in our life...staying in Airbnbs mostly (some hotels when it was only a night or 2). Your video is right on with all the details. Excellent job! Airbnb is soooo flexible. Once someone tries it they may not want to ever settle down lol Once our kids are done with college in 3 yeas my husband and I will be traveling full time again using Airbnb. We stick with Superhosts and now PLUS if available. I prefer Airbnb over other platforms. I don't trust Craigslist since there is no safety net where as Airbnb you do.
I'm about to do this, I'm in a bad situation in NJ. I recently got a job with Disney in FL and I need to move within the next few months. Ik exactly which part I want to stay in, I just need a place until we get on our feet.
get rid of your "stuff" and all these problems will be solved :) you've already been living with just the essentials for a few months and doing just fine. I think it would be very liberating for you, especially if you're looking to travel more!
my bf and i are thinking about getting our own airbnbs for max 1 year. we really want to travel pretty badly and have our own businesses. so this seems like the best possible option! i wish co-living was a thing here in ATL the way it is in LA and other countries, seems ideal.
I stay in AirBnB's a lot for work since I have to be there really early in the morning sometimes. I've found ones for as cheap as $25 for a room, which provides the same amenities as a basic hotel. I've also never felt uncomfortable and I think their reviewing system is really good.
meganhaley any listing with a lot of reviews .. eventually the truth will come out like noisy area, old, dirty, good location, great food within walking distance, etc so yes it's a good review system... and as a host it's not easy to get rid of reviews even though the media says it i.. all Airbnb's eventually have the truth come out in the reviews
Yes!! I am just finishing up a 2.5 month trip in Japan and I spent the entire trip in air bnbs. I had to stay in a couple hotels out of necessity (smaller town with no bnb listings), and definitely prefer air bnb!! Having an entire apartment to yourself is a great freedom and so much more affordable!! Even with cleaning fees it's still way cheaper than other options.
I'm not traveling, I just really don't want to try to sell my home in a recession so I'm feeling pressured to sell it now. I bought it a year before the last recession and not being able to sell because I owed more than it was worth (for years) was super painful. I don't want to replicate that.
if you want to stay some where long term ( 1-6 months ) you can speak with the host and if they agree then they can send you a special offer over air bnb with the reduced price, this way the host will still be insured by air bnb if anywhere were to go wrong... taxes may still be an issue tho
The rent pricing is getting out of control, then they keep coming into my apartment without calling first. I already verbally ask and sent emails in writing asking for them to call before coming in because I am a female living alone. Do they??? Nope. Only when they feel like it even though i always write my cell number on any work order I make online. Then this past weekend while I’m out of town, they enter to replace the air filters…. Again without callin fist. So after this lease is up, I’m done with renting. Airbnb all the way. Fuck this rules, accusing me of havin a dog (I don’t) with no proof. You have to pay all this money and still they do not have to respect your wishes as a human being. And dont let me get started on the electric bill and how allll the extra charges make my bill almost $100 per month even though I only use $33 worth of electricity…. I could go on and on with more. But Im done signing my life away, I’m in the process of donating or throwing away most of what I own, the rest is going to my mom’s garage. Fuck these high ass rental prices and home prices.
Girl!! I think you're currently in my old apartment complex! I just moved back to Texas from Boise. Wish we could have met! That would have been awesome. 🎊🙌🏻 Boise is amazing! I hope you're loving it. I highly suggest getting a bike, the whole town is super bike friendly. Check out the little pizza place in downtown too!! They have a really funky vibe that kind of reminds me of Cali. Can you tell I miss it? Lol
I've hosted thousands of guests and these are good tips. I'll give you some more.. 1. KEEP THE PLACE CLEAN.. the host will love you.. then request them to leave you a review.. if you have 1-5 five star reviews and host mentions you were clean.. other hosts will not scrutinize you .. especially if you're under 25. - hosts are always suspicious if you lie.. just be honest. - Don't throw parties.be quiet - stay low key around neighbors.. they will be suspicious of you no matter what because they've probably experienced a shitty guest who ruined it for the rest of you.. I have more but BE CLEAN and you'll be treated like ROYALTY. I host in Disneyland area with tons and tons of traffic so I've gone through all the pains of the worst guests to the best.
My friends and I just booked an airbnb for a couple of days in Orlando and it was soo much cheaper than staying at a hotel for 3 days. Plus, there's soo much more that your getting for a whole house vs a room with just 1 bathroom that 2 ppl can fit in.
I plan to move back to Los Angeles county but need a temporary place to stay while I land a job. The info you gave in this video is really encouraging and informative to me because I didn't know anything about bnbs.
Yes moving is expensive but if you hire ppl that adds in to the cost. If you go back to LA and rent a u-haul and drive your stuff back you will save soooooo much more!!
Tbh I love this idea. I’m trying to get into grad school in Texas, Arizona, NM, and I currently live with my bf in NJ. So if I get in I’m moving by myself for approx two-three months and rather than get an apartment for myself and pay an extreme amount, I’d rather do this!! Thanks for the video girl!!! So helpful :)
I am doing the exact same thing before committing to a lease where my new job is! I've found that the price is actually about the same as a month's rent in the area. One thing that you didn't mention was that staying at one place longer has its benefits because there's usually a % off the price for extended stays
Chocolate Nomad Vlogs Colorado, its the best thing ive ever done! I booked mine 8 months ahead and i’d suggest doing the same if you were thinking about doing it
I love you more than you will ever know , Lindsey. You are such an inspiration to me, and it makes me so happy not only seeing ya living your best life but also how often you have been uploading lately. Anyways , keep up the wonderful work with everything as always girl, and of course, stay smiling!🤗💕
I stayed in an Airbnb at the Outer Banks for a night over the summer & it was such a great experience! I would definitely use it again. This video was so helpful!
Hey I’m moving to Texas and they are giving me a verrrrrrrry hard time on moving there and not having a job . I applied in Georgia and they didn’t even care ! So I came up with the idea of moving into a air bnb til I can get a place . I can’t transfer my post office job cause you have to be there for 15 months and have great attendance! So while I wait to get back with the post office (it’s a long hiring process ) I’ll just work temp jobs . I’m scared but I’ll make it . I only have clothes and shoes and I’m going to ship my car and just buy a one way ticket !
That's exactly where I'm at. I figured that landlords wouldn't accept me because of my job limbo. Leaving NJ to move to FL. I'm about to get a job but I need a place to live so I can change my license over. I think this is what I have to do in order to move out of my toxic situation sooner. I worked for the Post office for about five yrs and my best friend was there 3 yrs after I left and they didn't want to transfer her because of her attendance. She moved any way but she has family down there in FL I don't really, the family I do have there tried to discourage me from moving. You said you were going to ship your car I need to do the same I just didn't know how to go about doing that..
I’m doing this right now cuz rent in LA is insane. I want to be more minimal and I’m planning on getting a skoolie soon. So I’m just trying to get to know the city and where I want to be.
Yes but depends on the landlord. There are a few that offer 6 to 12 months if you ask them to do so. I booked an apt through sonder like an airbnb and they put me in a set price month to month I just have to give them 30 days notice. Way better than my last apt it's like having a furnished all bills paid apt
I have lived in Mexico for the past six months and I “slow travel” meaning that I spend a month or two at different places. I use AirBnB monthly stays. If you rent more than 28 days at a time you get 1/2 the rent. The landlord is responsible for all electricity, repairs, and utilities. If you have issues, then AirBnB steps in to assist you, including refunding you, if that is what you wish. I rent houses because I have a large dog. The 28 day rent is often the same price as if I rented directly from the landlord. AirBnB is an American company, so they make sure that the landlords follow the rules. The landlord is beholding to you, because you will publicly rate your stay on AirBnB, which directly effects the landlords ability to re-rent the house. You pay via the internet to AirBnB. No need to pay in cash.
so on top of all the fees that airbnb has is it more cost effective than maybe a hotel? also do you also prefer airbnb for long term? or is it also your preference for short term? haha sorry I'm just interested in airbnbs and would really like to try traveling with them some time... love your vids Lindsey glad to see you posting on your main channel more frequent !!
Great vid this was helpful! I recently thought of doing some long term airbnb's bc i want to move literally across the nation so I dont want to just take a chance on signing a lease in a new city in a place that I have not even seen in person yet! I want to try out San Diego, and if I like it, then I will continue to live there lol. I like trying things out first!
My lease is coming to an end and this is how Ill go about things for travel. However, a heads up... I did the private room stays where others were in the home and that could be shady. I encountered both creepy guests and hosts so I would use that method sparingly. Entire place is most preferred
Granted, I've had my family help me when I've moved into and out of apartments or putting things in storage, I just cannot imagine paying someone to pack up all of my belongings and or moving all of my furniture. Like someone else suggested, you should just rent a U-Haul. You can pack up all of your stuff yourself and move the smaller items and maybe ask for help for larger furniture. Don't waste money like that!
You're awesome and I love your videos, I wanted to watch the whole thing. But I wish you could make videos and include all your information in like a max 12 min sit down talk video. Unless it's a vlog of what you do, then 20 min is reasonable.
Cute dog hun😊 I'ma do the same thing cause I litterly can't get a hold of anyone on the internet jobs relationship s etc. lol so I'ma just gonna move to Texas cause covid and cold weather Rochester n.y will just not put out for anything gyms food health housing pretty much everything a person needs
Hi, I am so grateful for this vlog, it buoyed my decision to move to new place via Airbnb intro. I clicked on the link but I saw no indication that it was being used, is it still valid? Thank you so much for everything Lindsey I really appreciate it!
i’m going to edc in may and i didn’t realize that the check out day is the day u select and so i selected thursday-sunday and edc is friday-sunday and i thought if i selected sunday that meant i stay that night but it’s actually the check out day. luckily i was able to add an extra day in the same place but had to pay another cleaning fee. so don’t make the same mistake i did 😂😂
I’m selling all my stuff and taking what I need and traveling across the country staying in Airbnb while working remote. I am excited! Anyone else done that?
You are literally one of my favorite youtubers. I've been watching you for years now. i love all of your content. Keep up the good work lindsey! love from Canada
I'm planning to work 2 jobs while staying in airbnb boy I can't I'll save lot of money unlike staying in the apartment of course I have to move around once in a while
this video was so helpful! i'm planning on doing this for about four months - how did you decide how many personal belongings and things of your own to bring with you?? love you!
Please answer: I am going to San Francisco (from Boston) for 4 days in August. Both Airbnb and hotels are so ridiculously expensive in the Chinatown area (my preferred location). The cost of one night at a decent hotel is relative (usually a bit more costly than an airbnb, for ex: $200 for one hotel room in comparison to a $150 Airbnb apartment) to the cost of a tiny room in an apartment. Should I go for the airbnb and save some money or should I splurge on a nice experience at a hotel? Please help I am so conflicted
MsTranCouture I don’t know your age but if you are 18-25, hostels are another good alternative. The last time I went to Boston I stayed in a hostel that was walking distance from Chinatown.
It varies. Some are just for the guest, some are shared with other guests, some you are staying in a hosts guest room. Some have their own bathroom, some dont.
I've been doing airbnb full time for the past 3 years and I'm not going back to apartment living. Pick up and go whenever you want and not being locked into a lease and tied down with a ton of furniture. Everything I own is on me. Minimal stuff. I love it.

@erica I’ve really been thinking about doing it. I don’t want to sign a lease. I’m not certain where I want to be.,

Air. Bnb saved my life when i had nowhere to go. I have my own place now
Really how was it ?
Those days for you ?
Moving into mine in 2 weeks
Free housing, free food free from thought.
Yep I'm thinking about living in an airbnb for a month or so.
Good luck travelers!!
i got mine with 75% off when i booked for 2 months, just needed to talk with the host first then they sent me an offer :)
Hi quick question... but did you have to pay both months up front or monthly?
what’d you say to them??
Thank you for this because I’m double checking too. It’s nice knowing there’s some hope fingers crossed 🤞
This is the kind of information I was looking for. Thank you!
This was refreshing. I am so done with moving into an apartment only to find out my neighbor is a creepy stalker. I can't wait to try this lifestyle.

The landlord is beholding to you, because you will publicly rate your stay on AirBnB, which directly effects the landlords ability to re-rent the house. You pay via the internet to AirBnB. No need to pay in cash.
so on top of all the fees that airbnb has is it more cost effective than maybe a hotel? also do you also prefer airbnb for long term? or is it also your preference for short term? haha sorry I'm just interested in airbnbs and would really like to try traveling with them some time... love your vids Lindsey glad to see you posting on your main channel more frequent !!
this video is perfect for me rn bc i think i'm about to do the same thing. store everything i own somewhere and go travel via airbnbs
i watched this in double speed and became really aware of how much you talk with your hands haha!!! It was really interesting!
haha me too
Adarlan!!! (Major TOG fan over here! Lol)
BANKSlove me too aaaaa
BANKSlove omg yesss hi!!!
How tho? Even an Airbnb in my city would cost $400+ more a month than an apartment
Really? Wow. That’s bad
😱 your video is literally changing my life. Thank you!!!
They need to show the walking distance from grocery stores. I prefer my own space also, I lov walking distance to Walmart
I can't wait to finally move into an Airbnb next week:)
How'd it go?
I think my family of 5 will be trying this in a few months. Wish us luck, houses for a fam of 5 are pricey!
Fully furnished, no security deposit, heating, water, wifi, electricity included? If you think it’s too pricey, buy or rent your own home.
I want to do this, I’m working from home indefinitely so it’s the perfect time. I just don’t know how my cat will handle it lol.
You're awesome and I love your videos, I wanted to watch the whole thing. But I wish you could make videos and include all your information in like a max 12 min sit down talk video. Unless it's a vlog of what you do, then 20 min is reasonable.
I’m about to stay in Portland Maine for about two weeks and the plan is to stay at an Airbnb!
portland is amazing!
aw portland is such a cute place, although be ready to get uber cold :')
I’m actually pretty scared of how cold it will be since I’m not used to cold weather
It’s not bad! I live about an hour away and the weathers coat weather so bundle up but it’s not too cold to walk around :)
hey! i live in southern maine super close to portland! if you’re lookin for recs for food/stuff to do i’d love to share with you :))
Cute dog hun😊 I'ma do the same thing cause I litterly can't get a hold of anyone on the internet jobs relationship s etc. lol so I'ma just gonna move to Texas cause covid and cold weather Rochester n.y will just not put out for anything gyms food health housing pretty much everything a person needs
omg I actually used your code back in may of 2017 when I went to DC for a few days!!
Thanks so much for this and your insight! Is there a community of people who do this?
Do you still do this? If so can you make an updated version?
I found this super valuable! Thank you so much for sharing about your move. It gave us a lot of direction :)
Ayee such a helpful video. Liked the point about “test driving” a place first before making a greater commitment.
🚘
you look sooooo beautiful Lindsey!! lovethis har, makeup, EVERYTHING!!!
I love love love that you do non-spons'd videos like this you are so helpful !!!
This is an amazing idea. This something I think I will definitely consider when I go off to vet school.
Really considering about moving into an Airbnb
Loved this! You can really see how much effort you put into making yt videos lately, keep it up Lindsey! :-)
Hi, I am so grateful for this vlog, it buoyed my decision to move to new place via Airbnb intro. I clicked on the link but I saw no indication that it was being used, is it still valid? Thank you so much for everything Lindsey I really appreciate it!
Your hair look so good with your natural color coming in!!! 😭💞🤤
im doing a summer class in boston for 3 weeks and so right now airbnb is my best option but i was so unsure, so this video helped, thanks x
i live with my parents so leaving my stuff is no problem
You are adorable!!!! I loved watching this so much! 💗. Thank you for the great advice. ✨
I love Airbnb! Sometimes the customer service can be a little eh but I always find the best deals :)
I love how down to earth you are, hope you are doing ok 💗 💗
i’m going to edc in may and i didn’t realize that the check out day is the day u select and so i selected thursday-sunday and edc is friday-sunday and i thought if i selected sunday that meant i stay that night but it’s actually the check out day. luckily i was able to add an extra day in the same place but had to pay another cleaning fee. so don’t make the same mistake i did 😂😂
Today i was watching your old videos ..you are so fun to watch 😙
I’m selling all my stuff and taking what I need and traveling across the country staying in Airbnb while working remote. I am excited! Anyone else done that?
How did you deal with certain things without a permanent address? Like registering a car and stuff?
There are car subscription services. And car rental services, but use a family members or friends.
Is a short term sublease better than Airbnb if you need an address for employment stuff??
Boise
, Idaho? seriously? why not Los Angeles, California?
It’s so weird Meg and her both moved out of la with their boyfriends around the same time
Soooo excited for my Airbnb journey in January 2022 ♥️♥️♥️♥️
How'd it go?
So informative and useful for future travels. Thanks gorgeous! ❤️

I'm planning to work 2 jobs while staying in airbnb boy I can't I'll save lot of money unlike staying in the apartment of course I have to move around once in a while
It's more expensive
this video was so helpful! i'm planning on doing this for about four months - how did you decide how many personal belongings and things of your own to bring with you?? love you!
yay! i just brought enough stuff for about 2 months or so, like whatever u can fit in suitcases and move around comfortably.
ive used airbnb twice in toronto and i luved it saved much $$
Thank you for sharing your experience. It helps :)
loved this video!! and ur nails omg!!
Ive never heard anyone say idaho was west coast
Such a wonderful idea. So many thanks :)
This is super insightful! Thanks.
I LIVE HERE GIRL!!
This video was so informative. I am not loving but nice tips for when I choose to
this was super helpful!! thanks girl
Hey ! I loved your video ! Thank you for your tips ! I just wanted to know if your code worked for a french Airbnb account ?
Such helpful info! Love your content 💗
Maybe you addressed this considering I didn't watch the whole video but do you stay in the Airbnb with the host?
It varies.
Some are just for the guest, some are shared with other guests, some you are staying in a hosts guest room. Some have their own bathroom, some dont.
My current situation but I’m gonna see how it goes
How’d It Go Hun?
@@mariecarson9712 It actually turned out well. Got my own place now.
@@MPPharaoh Ayyy That’s what I’m talking about. I’m happy for you.🥰…Thank you for responding!
Very helpful omg ty
Stupid question by just want to confirm: Does the host live with you while you stay at your monthly airbnb?
