  • The Grand Cliff Top Walk in the Blue Mountains was officially opened on 24 March 2024. It will provide avid hikers with a 19km spectacular walk from Wentworth Falls to Katoomba.
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) spent 4 years creating the Grand Cliff Top Walk and has opened each section to the public upon completion, but it is now available as one continuous walk.
The $10 million project is funded by the NSW Government and delivered by NPWS. Blue Mountains City Council is a key partner in the project.
It’s recommended to do the walk over 2 days for full immersion of the natural beauty in the Blue Mountains. It showcases many stunning lookouts, the Three Sisters, several beautiful waterfalls and some charming villages in the Blue Mountains.
We decided to do the walk in the opposite direction, from the Scenic World in Katoomba to Wentworth Falls. We put up a night in a motel close to the Katoomba town centre.
It was quite a freezing Winter day for the start of our walk. The temperature was below 10°C at the beginning of our walk and we were very nicely dressed in our winter clothing to keep warm. However, as we progressed in our walk, our body started to warm up and we didn’t feel too cold.
We passed by so many spectacular lookouts and several waterfalls along the track. The best looking waterfalls on our first day is definitely the Bridal Veil Falls. The place was deserted and we had it all to ourselves to take as many photos as we liked.
After completing our first day walk, we drove to the Sublime Lookout to watch the mesmerising sunset.
We then checked into our motel, had the most satisfying dinner and had a good night rest looking forward to the 2nd day walk.
