Hi Laurence. I greatly appreciate this great work. It really helps me improve my translation work, especially in the legal field where I can create my own legal corpus using your concordance. Thank you so much
To anyone (Macbook users) who has problem copying the result into Excel, the solution is by saving the clone results into txt. Then copy and paste into Excel. It works like a charm.
Hi; the command select all and the delimiter don't seem to be working properly for me in OS X 10.11.4. In the Concordance tool, after I have used the delimiter and selected all rows using "alt"+"control"+"A", I then use "control"+"c" to copy everything and "control"+"v" to paste it all into Excel. However, not all of the lines will paste across only the content of the 'box' I clicked on (e.g. the content from the left hand or right hand hidden box in KWIC); the search term doesn't ever paste into its own column and if there happens to be a period at the end of a sentence then all the words following jump into the own separate rows in Excel. My colleague is having the same problem on another Mac using the same version of OS X. Any thoughts?
Dear Anthony, I'm planning on analyzing the structural moves of narratives written by ESL students. I was wondering if it would be possible to have a short video tutorial on how to use AntMover. The word document on your website is very useful but it's still quite advanced for my ICT skill level. I understand that the programme's default settings are geared towards the analysis of academic abstracts. How can settings be retrained to analyze narrative texts based on Lavob & Waletzki's narrative stages? Thanks in advance
Hi Lawrence, this program is intuitive and I have used it many times in my research. Thank you for this! I have a question wrt to the concordance list. Is there a way to modify the results in the search window size? Instead of using the number of characters to limit the results, is there a tool preference to have complete sentences on display? Of course, this would mean some sentences are longer while others are shoter. Thank you!
I have been experimenting with Advanced with some success but for some reason I can't go back to search in basic mode once I am in Advanced. The search box is greyed out for entries.
I also can't get the 'select all' option to work, only individual sections in KWIC. I'm using Sierra Mac OS. BTW I'm currently using this via the Future Learn MOOC :)
For Mac, the ALT key works a bit differently. Can you try searching on Google for this topic. Somebody addressed it in my discussion group a while back. (I don't have my Mac here now to check things.)
The commands "shift+click" to a select a line doesn't seem to work on Antconc 3.4.4 with Window 10. When I try "control or shift +clic" it select a line on the left and one another on the right but three lines below ! I cannot delete nor insert lines either ... Any idea how to do it?
Hello Laurence, many thanks for your wonderful work. For some reason, when I do a concordance search, not all my search term in the concordance lines appear in blue as I expect - some still remain in black, making it impossible for me to know where they're used in the full text. I'm not too sure what the problem might be. Your help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.
I suspect that you texts might have some odd control characters in them that is causing the line breaks to add strangely. Try searching in the file for the words where the highlighting breaks down using a good text editor like Notepad++, and you'll find the problematic control characters showing up. Then just search and replace all of these in all your files with a single white space. The problem will then disappear.
Thanks immensely, Laurence. You were spot on with the diagnosis of my 'problem' and your prescribed solution was spot on. Issue sorted out. You're a genius. More blessings!
You will need to tag your corpus first (e.g. using my TagAnt tool). Then, search for the relevant pattern (see my "working with tagged data video" for help).
Hello Laurence Anthony. I have a doubt. How can I save the results of concordances? Because, I want to open them in Word, but they appear all as a mess
Dear Laurence. Thank you for this fantastic software. For some reasons I cannot open the advanced options :/ I work on Mac OS Sierra and I downlaoded the 3.5.0. AntConc version. Is there something I have to do before to click on the button? Thanks a lot, Valériane

You're very welcome!
Fantastic software and clear and concise tutorials. Thank you!
Thank you for the kind comment!
Hello Thomas. Can u plz tell me how to download the results I have received by using concordance tool
@@sindhusarfaraz1019 hi, you should ask Lawrence Anthony. I haven't used this for a long time. Cheers!
Thomas dear thanks
hello. in 2:16 I tride control+click to select separate rows and it didn't work. I need your help please. I'm using macbook pro
Maybe try the command key instead. You can also save all the results and select the ones you want from the results file.

Note for self: non-sequential lines can be selected on Mac with fn + option

what is the difference between tagged & untagged lists?
Hi Fady. A tagged list is one where each word has a tag (e.g. Part-of-speech) attached. Something like big_JJ.
@@AntLabJPN do you have video explaining it?

Hi. If you use AntConc 4x, you can do exactly what you want.
Is it possible to search phrases or infinitives with the succeeding words like "to + infinitive/ base form"?
I have been experimenting with Advanced with some success but for some reason I can't go back to search in basic mode once I am in Advanced. The search box is greyed out for entries.
Hi George, I think you probably have one of the advanced search options still activated. If you turn it off, the greyed out box will return to normal.
@@AntLabJPN Thanks, I will try that.

Thank you for reply. My computer system is win10, also can't apply.
Evan, just try ALT A on Windows. See if that works.
@@AntLabJPN I had the same problem! It would only select one of the hidden tables if I hit ctrl+a. Alt+ctrl+A wouldn't work. Alt+a works fine!!

Hi, Can you try AntConc on Windows 7 and make sure you can get things working there? This is the first report of such a problem.
Hello, I used Antconq on Window 7 and 8 and had no problem at all. That's the reason why i downloaded it as soon as I changed computer

Hello Laurence Anthony. I have a doubt. How can I save the results of concordances? Because, I want to open them in Word, but they appear all as a mess
Hi, just go to File->Save results. Then, you can import them into Excel and all the columns will be aligned. You can then color them as necessary.

Mr. Anthony, is there a way to find out how many progressive forms are in a text?
maybe \b(a-z)ing\b ? The nomenclature for boundaries is in video tutorial 2.
