thank you so much for all this content and information you are giving out for free, it's absolutely amazing and insightful and I really appreciate the hard work are putting into these videos.
Thanks! When you are watching a documentary 99.9% they don’t talk about the technic in detail. Even in Italy or bbc docs it’s very hard to find this even if they did studies on it and so on… Really appreciate that thanks
Saw this work at the Royal Ontario Museum here in Canada when it was on tour. I remember how translucent green it was. As a child I did not realize the heavy controversy about what is essentially propaganda art from the Year of Terror. I always found Louis David the fulcrum that made oil paint artists persona non grata by those in power. From the French Revolution to painting Napoleon Bonaparte the warlord of Europe, and shaping people's perception of these men by employing a mastery in the fine arts; I can see their trepidation.
Hey louis, thanks so much, any information on the method of application of paint, was it direct or indirect, was it windowshaded, the types of brushes used?

Did j. Louis David use grid method?
We will never know for sure, but the scientific evidence seems to favor David's use of a grid.
Oh poor woman how traumatic for her
All good, but...
Louis = 'Loo-ee'
Marat = 'MAR-ah'
Toussaud = 'Too-so'
Jacobins = 'Jack-ah-bins'
Pentimento plural is pentimenti.
