I think a Lottery would be ridiculous. The NFL is one of the few professional sports league with any real parity. It's almost commonplace for a team to go from worst to first in a calendar year. To penalize the other 31 teams because of Jets is uncalled for. Who's to say the Jets are actually trying to tank. And if they are, then you could say they've been tanking for the last 3 to 5 years and that still hasn't helped. They could possibly be this bad.
No offense to Trevor Lawrence, but unless you can guarantee me that he's the next Mahomes or Rodgers or Brady for that matter, I'm not throwing a season away to get an unproven product. If you're 0-16 or heck 1-15, you have multiple spots that need help and Trevor Lawrence would be a start, but he wouldn't solve every issue.

We beat them once and then was a very close game. The raiders are also looking worse than the time they went against them.

I watched the end of this game when it was looking like the Jets were going to win. My uncle Dale Christensen died in the early morning of the day of this game. He was a lifelong Raiders fan. He lived most of his life in Los Angeles. He was 72 years old, Vietnam vet. Watching the end of the game with the miraculous pass i had to smile and think Dale had something to do with it. :)
Something else, in 2010 my mom died from cancer age 53 in August that year. The San Francisco Giants went on to win the World Series later that year. I was born and raised in the SF bay area and went to many Giants games growing up. Them and the A's were my favorite teams. I went to one of the world series games in 1989.
I was born in 1981 when Joe Montana started to be Mr. NFL like Brady is now. I sure miss the Niners from the 80's and 90's

A lot of factors to overcome... we hadn't beat the jets since 96, they destroyed us last season, 10 am, as far east as it gets, cold weather, key players missing, a Ruggs fumble and tipped int, a couple missed passes, penalties against us and that should've been called on the jets, missed assignments, they got ahead, should've blown then out, but took their foot off the gas... but Ruggs and Carr redeemed themselves when it counted the most!!! It was highly improbable, but they still had to execute to make it happen!!! Regardless of whether it should or shouldn't have happened, they still had to make the play, so Carr made the right protection call, dropped back scrambled up into the pocket and launched the perfectly placed bomb, all while Ruggs ran the perfect stutter and go, turned the CB's hips then hit the afterburners, ran under it and made the catch!!! Look at how the Chiefs won the superbowl... yeah the jets are not the niners, but when we needed a huge play we got it!!! AND the WIN because of it!!! This might just be the best thing that could have happened for us!!!???!!! We stepped up when we had to!!! IT'S A HUGE CONFIDENCE BUILDER FOR CARR, RUGGS AND THE ENTIRE TEAM!!!!!!! And it's the type of thing that carries over, just like the Chiefs loss, but completely opposite!!!!!!! Yes it was ugly, but in the end a win is a win and given all of the circumstances that was mentioned above, including the fact that we needed a big confidence building boost and some excitement, I'LL TAKE IT!!!!!!! We play down to the competition, but we also play up to the competition!!! It's a double edged sword, but it will work to our favor in the playoffs and to win this way will only prove that we have found yet another way to win!!!

why did they come back from down double digits to take the lead in the 4th quarter then? Why did they stop the raiders on 4th and goal with under 2 mins to go in the game? They just suck, historically. Their players, and especially their coaches, are historically bad.

@@jonnysnipes3123 They absolutely didn't purposely lose. Gase and Williams won't be around next year. Why do they care if the Jets get Lawrence? The whole football world is laughing at those two right now. If the Jets go 0-16, Gase will never get another head coaching job. If he gets a few wins together, he can at least salvage his credibility. Williams was already fired this morning for how terrible his blitz call was, and he won't get another defensive coordinator job for at least a few years. These guys are not about to humiliate themselves and bury their future job prospects on purpose to help the draft stock of the team that is about to fire them. That's insane.
And the players are ultra-competitive, and nobody wants to be on an 0-16 team. A lot of them will be gone next year too, so they don't care if the Jets get Lawrence. But they will care if teams interested in signing them review their game film and see a bunch of dumb penalties and terrible defense. You think that cornerback that got torched on the last play is okay with the whole football world seeing that? Nobody with the drive it takes to be a pro athlete would just lay himself out like that.

Oh man, best game of the season for us Jets fans! We competed, played well in spurts, we're seeing progress, Trevor sweepstakes intact... and Greg Williams is THE MAN! It would've been a HUGE mistake to win this game. I swear, Williams went cover ZERO with 10 seconds, up 4, on purpose, for the good of the franchise. That's my story and I'm sticking to it
