@@maxzubic I had a fair amount of free time over the Christmas break but I'm extremely busy, so things are slow moving on this sort of project. I'll try and get the orch alone up sooner. The next one....we'll see....
this is amazing! how did you manage to create the orchestra parts and sync everything perfectly to the live tempo (which tends to vary a lot)? i can imagine it's a whole lot of work
@@tehlion7430 For myself, I create a click track as the first process. Since they do tend to alter the tempo measure by measure that means slight adjustments through the whole song. That does, indeed, take some time, and is the least fun part of doing it. But once the click track's in place then I just program the instruments in as I feel like and that gets quite fun.
A bit too muddy sometimes is a primary criticism I'd give to S&M (1 and 2) -- Though I will grant, this is muddier for sure. A live performance of a song with no control over reverberation levels or the mix, pulled down from a compressed RUclips video, then recompressed when loaded back up.... And then trying to mix the orchestra to match that....well... you're going to get muddy sometimes. That's one of the reasons I did the first few I did to studio recordings. Could I have made things less muddy sounding? Sure. Would it have matched the orchestra mix that way? Would it have sounded rich enough? Would it have been in the style that I perceive the S&Ms to be? (Conversely, sometimes I ignored what I perceived the S&Ms approach would be and just did my own thing because I wanted to! Haha.) There's a fair amount of subjectivity to it, to be sure. I'll be putting up an orchestra only version of this (per request in another comment) fairly soon which will show some clarity (pun intended) in the orchestral choices I made and differentiate the orchestrations from the mix somewhat too. Maybe that will be interesting to some. :)
@@charlesdailnielson Sure, that's always hard. I hate my Sanitarium and Unforgiven because of that. But I'm looking forward to your symphony only version! I also want to try my interpretation of the piece at some point :)
@@BenZimmermannMusic I've avoided doing what you've done thus far so as to not step on your toes or make it look like I'm trying to compete in a petty way or something. Specifically...I really wanted to do Orion, but you beat me to it. But I'd actually love to hear different interpretations to some of the ones I've done. Looking forward to it.
@@charlesdailnielson Absolutely! Would love to hear what you would do to Orion! I also thought about doing some tracks like One or - Human just to try and put my own spin on it. That was so much fun when I did Clover with StateOfMercury. It's so interesting to see how artitist handle these arrangements!
If the S&M2 concert wasn't such a wasted opportunity, fans wouldn't have even needed to create remixes of songs that should have been played to begin with.
2:53 - 3:13 Great melody for the orchestra!
Glad you like it. Thanks.
Best one yet x
It's very terrifying with the right performance!
Where The Wild Things Are will be perfect with the symphonny!:)
Yes, yes, yes! Michael Bender will go crazy over this!
Thanks.
I just subscribed!
@@charlesdailnielson I forgot to ask, but will you be posting a symphony only version of this? Also, when do you plan to make the next one?

@@charlesdailnielson Understandable. It's the same with me now that school is going again. Junior year is very important.
This is just SO F*****G GOOD! I can't believe it....
The justice is done. This kind of video make my day, man. Hope you make more of metallica's songs like that. Thank you!
Plot twist : this and spit out the bone and others not on S&M2 was really played in the 3rd day of Chase Center opening for secret fans 😎😎😎🤣
Excellent work! This is my all time favorite Metallica song and you did great work with it
Very creative!
Thank you!

@@Deadsk okay but how do they construct all the orchestra parts and sync it to a live metallica recording?

A bit too muddy at some times but there are some nice ideas there!
