Total Fishing, Wet Nets, Great Rod Race, Greater Rod Race, I grew up watching and learning from you and the Duke, alongside other Great shows like Go fishing with John Wilson. Massive influence on my angling, thank you both
Brilliant film Matt Mr brown is the best your friendship with him is very special And I bought a van just like Mick's god bless the pair of you tight lines lads thanks for all your films
Excellent film from two legend's, grew up on wacthing you and the duke , probably watched every thing youve ever done at least a dozen times over the years some more, great to see you back , be nice to see you both colab with some of the currents on yt , like Carl , ginger fisherman and snagged bro would get definitely help get you back on the map (not that you ever left for many of us), noticed you both got a mention on snagged bros latest video, tight lines
👍what a smashing film to remind about fishing culture especially after the war how our grandfather's n grandma's(my Nan worked in the steel industry while Grandad was at war) so that i could grow up normal,.catch the bus at 8yr old to the local reservoir with No worries, older anglers would always help,.. my grandchildren will never know what normal is
That was lovely, really looking forward to seeing this mini series through. Well done to all involved, great stuff. 🙏☮️🙏 I’m off out in the morning ( 5 hours from now ) to lurch a stretch of my local river for pike and perch .
I grew up in Kings Heath through the 80s and 90s fishing mainly park ponds and canals. Even once I’d moved out and was bouncing between questionable house-shares I used to pop back to mom’s to watch Total fishing, the great rod race etc. on Discovery. You have both been a huge influence on my Angling over the years and it’s blown my mind to see you stood on the banks of Lifford Lane Reservoir!! (I recognised it instantly in the intro) The place I spent many hours trying to catch a huge pike of my own. It never happened unfortunately, but I had a lot of fun trying and re-visited several times over the years. I look forward to the other films in this series and I still hold out hope that I’ll actually bump into one of you on the bank one day so I can thank you in person for all the great TV, film and stories over the decades. Tight lines chaps! Is Gord ‘The piking pirate’ still knocking around? He was always one of my favourite characters in your rabble.
Absolutely loved this... Brought back lovely memories of my younger days growing up catching pike. Mike and Matt played a big part for my love of fishing
Excellent video, really enjoyed that it was a great tribute to Mick, I understand his connection shared by many. Amazing how that van got through an MOT 😂 fair play.
That was a bloody lovely upload and tribute to the duke. However, CORNED BEEF?! What? 😂😂 I’ve genuinely never heard that before. I have caught pike from Lifford reservoir when I met the lads from Snaggedbro, there was still rumours of 20lb pike amongst the cars dumped in there 🤦♂️. Mick’s diaries must be worth a fortune! I did notice his rig looked more roaming than static. I love ledgered float for the indication but micks approach looked spot on 👌
As a boy I was interested in fishing in general, tried sea and coarse but in the end I think the DNA was fly fishing, coming from a Scottish family. I have my grandfathers fly tying tools silks and feathers. And flies. He survived WW1 and I think fishing played a great role in getting over that, he by the way never went to a remembrance service, but he had been through it, won the MC and went in 1914 with The Cameronians to France . His battalion crossed the line Christmas 1914. But on remembrance day he would drive out to the country and look upon the waters of a river or loch, where there is peace. Peace to all who watch this, including German anglers.
Thank you too! I think that you are right that it’s the best thing we have done. It was certainly a lot of fun! Wait for Fisherman/s Country - it’s just as good - coming soon!
beautiful and poignant for me. I grew up fishing brums waters in the 70s too - Pype Hayes Pond, Plantsbrook Reserve before it was a reserve and Salford Park (the lake under Spaghetti Junction). But what really hooked me was my first ever session on a river (Avon) on a foggy winters day. At 13 it was the first time I had ever been on a river bank. Caught nowt, but to this day I've never forgotten that day. So, I feel I can relate directly to you two lads and fishing upbringing. Thanks lads.
A great trip down memory lane and to learn how Mick Brown became a pike fishing legend. I learned a lot from your videos and Mick's especially on pike fishing. Also learned from some recent RUclipsrs like river piker and lured by esox on how to respect pike big or small. Even the small two pounder with luck and careful treatment could become the next twenty pounder.
used to be obsessed with pike fishing in the late 50''s, usual two trebles and float and in those days "live bait", usually canal roach +stone loach from the nearby river. Landed many 20lb+ and they never went back, they were feeding a large poor family.
Very watchable, is Mick. Never feel like he's trying to prove something, just going about his craft in familiar ways. I only fished the Wye once, and had a big double on a lure, lovely river. Interesting to see Mick fishes light when he's roving, with a couple of 4000 size reels. The more gear, the less inclined we are to move.
Mick and Matt are my two favourite fisherman of all time, loved watching their TV series in the 90's!! Learnt a lot from them too!!! Great to see Mick again, what a lovely bloke!!! Hey Matt, are you still into fly fishing in Norway?
Great to see mick on the bank again, him and a local to me in southport "Gordy the piking pirate" got me into pike fishing and without a little bit of there expertise I wouldn't be fishing how I am today.
My Sort of Geezer ,IS BROWNY A TOP ESOX ANGLER ,MATTY H ain't bad either,1 thing I will say about him ,He,s been catching PIKE SINCE ,NAPOLEON was a Lance Corporal ,😂 I'm a Experienced River Pike Angler ,of 40 years ,And if I ever Spoke to Browny about Pike ,I would d Defo Listen to Him ! 2 more things about him ,HE,S DEFINITELY HAD HIS DOLLARS WORTH OUT OF THAT PROPER PIKE MACHINE VAN ,HE,S GOT ,and after watching this Video EVERY BRUMMY , GOING PIKING IN THE BRUM AREA ,WILL NOW USE CORNED BEEF AS BAIT😂😁😅😂😂😂😂😂😁!! nice 1 lads ,TOP BANANA
I wish mick would move away from this tired MH relationship. I would love to see Mick do something with some of the more modern and relevant youtubers who make high quality and modern content. He could do something with fish with Carl or something more fun with snagged bro who are from brum too. My lad thought this was just a middle aged bloke fishing with a dull voice over.
@lukejones3187 I like mick . But this is made in the shadow of a passion for angling with poorer film compossision, poor scripting of the narration and matts delivery is not great. Why copy , this could have been far better with a bit of imagination.
@@mattstringer7838what are you talking about “made in the shadow of passion for angling”, it’s got no resemblance at all & isn’t intended to…. Your just trolling nonsense
It deliberately featured a wus]de range of musical styles to suit the mood. The licences for the audio tracks cost a fortune but they add lots of atmosphere to the film🎣💪
I don’t believe my eyes. The boys are back in town. ❤

Mick and Snagged Bros would be amazing
Lovely to see you mick, keep
It going you and matt hayes are my favourites by a mile
Layed up in bed with proper man flu. Watching this is the best therapy.
Just wiped a tear away with a snotty tissue ❤

Great intro to Mick Brown. Looking forward to the next episode.
Absolute legend. Far and away the first choice of the guy I would like to meet on the bank
What a fantastic trip down memory lane. Great video guys. 👏🏼 More like this please! 🙏🏼 Tight lines 🎣🤞🏼
What a fantastic film, looking forward to more similar content from the best 2 angling legends out there👍
Good to see n hear from you both
A fantastic film and lovely storytelling from two of angling’s great entertainers and ambassadors 👏👌🎣🐟
Lovely film..... many thanks to one of south Birmingham's finest!
I’m overjoyed to know you are both back and making films again. Looking forward to what the future holds. Tight lines boys 👍
Excellent video, really enjoyed that it was a great tribute to Mick, I understand his connection shared by many.
Amazing how that van got through an MOT 😂 fair play.
It's a naturally camouflaged white van , a rare beast!
Doesn't need mot after 40 years if not modified from 30 years, I think that van is on the cusp 🤔
Thoroughly enjoyed .
Glad you enjoyed it -mot was so much fun to make!c
Great video, love the adventures of Duke Sir Michael. Looking forward to more uploads
Brilliant production. Just forwarded it to all my mates. There's a fair bit of excitement around this series.
Thanks - appreciate it!
Loved every minuet of this Matt :)
Thanks Karl! Thanks for watching 💪🎣

Thanks so much! We just love fishing and filming together! 💪🎣
Brilliant vid guys, really enjoyed it. thanks for sharing.
Awsome 22 minuets of the Duke! Great watch
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks. The other two eps were great fun to film too.
Watched tons of Matt and Mick... good to see something new,...bullet holes in Micks mate car 😂😂...brilliant
2 absolute legends of the fishing world 🌍 ❤
Great to see you guys again.
Very sad that the UK is is covered with fly tipping!
Mick brown the pike legend, grew up watching mick and Matt, great watch 🎣🎣
Awesome video! 🔥 Pike are such a cannibalistic species! 🐊 I love fishing for them!

I like many have been a fan of your work from the beginning but this is by far your best piece of work. Thank you for gifting it to us.
Thank you too! I think that you are right that it’s the best thing we have done. It was certainly a lot of fun! Wait for Fisherman/s Country - it’s just as good - coming soon!
@MattHayesFishRodRace I appreciate the reply, thank you
Great watch. Just reading his new book, a lovely Christmas pressie from my daughter.
Loved it, the joy of not being sold anything, unlike most of other fishing channels, just fishing.

Good to see the old school back 👍
Excellent video. Love that old van mick.
Loved it no wonder people don't watch telly now it's all in your hand
This should be on the tele. ❤
It will get plenty of views on here I hope.
So Happy so watch the lads together again 🕺🤸

Loved watching you as a kid Matt ! Excellent video 👌🏼
I'm a sea angler but always been tempted by the big green river monsters. After watching this, I'm definitely gonna give it a go. 👍

Love these video’s Guys, keep them coming!
Absolutely love it 💚💚💚
Awesome viewing Mick and Matt thankyou guys!
this was a fun watch, mick was the person that got me into pike fishing, from watching him & you on tv.
Beautiful film.
Thankyou!
Great watch.
Loving it.

I can't talk long.....continues to ask another fishing question haha😂 good old Mick a proper angler at heart
So happy you uploaded this I brought the DVD of Mick Brown
That van is very old how old is it Matt ?
He sold it a few years back but it’s still around. He keeps in touch with the new owner
What why did he sell it ?
❤love it 21:38
Superb
Glad your doing well Mick. Quick question..whats your views on circle hooks for deadbaiting?
Beautiful
I have dreams of catching big pike and perch.
Strange i know but thats what fishing does to you when your thinking of tactics how to catch them

John sidley?
❤❤❤
Great vid, your audio, Matt is a bit muffled.
The two skulls in the thumb nail 💀💀 which one is mick's 😂
👌
At 13.15 , did Mick just stop some random bloke and start talking about fish and chips ???
And Matt/Mick did you fish this beat (at 7.44 min) with permission? You didn't, and I should know because I own it.
😂
What's micks sort of music ?
Blues…appropriately 😂
16.20.....who is singing?
The music tracks came from Audio networks. They cost a fortune! 🤣
Fair play to them not like the fish at all cost anglers today all using hormones because they think there a cut above the rest
I wish mick would move away from this tired MH relationship. I would love to see Mick do something with some of the more modern and relevant youtubers who make high quality and modern content. Most people have enjoyed it, so don’t worry!
Your lad is part of a different generation, so it’s understandable he wouldn’t get it.
@ClassicSam. exactly and theubwouod benefit from micks knowledge and it would be so easy to make him relevant. He needs to cut the cord with MH .
If temu did a passion for angling
What's not to like Mick's been in fishing since the 80's it's good to see an old face back on the screens, don't you think
@lukejones3187 I like mick . But this is made in the shadow of a passion for angling with poorer film compossision, poor scripting of the narration and matts delivery is not great. Why copy , this could have been far better with a bit of imagination.
@lukejones3187 because it was so old fashioned how it was made. Make it more relevant for the new generation.
@@mattstringer7838what are you talking about “made in the shadow of passion for angling”, it’s got no resemblance at all & isn’t intended to…. Your just trolling nonsense
@theconsistentnoddy9851 so the way the narration is constructed , the long shots etc. Look i have an opinion if that's OK with you ?
What with the woman singing ?
Ruining a decent film.
I enjoyed the music personally
It deliberately featured a wus]de range of musical styles to suit the mood. The licences for the audio tracks cost a fortune but they add lots of atmosphere to the film🎣💪
@ Didn’t suit the film.
Money wasted.
The music was ideal. Better than dumb ass misplaced dance track
@@Edge-of-Reason A woman singing loudly while someone is drifting a dead bait down river ! Yeah totally matched ! 😂
