1958 Chevrolet Delray Coupe
Why This Car Is Special
The 1958 Chevrolet Delray became a distinct series of its own, taking the place of the 150. The Delray was Chevrolet's price-leading, no-frills model, with the more expensive models being the Biscayne, Bel Air and Impala (the last being a sub-model of the Bel Air for 1958).
The 1958 Delray Coupe we have here at Skyway Classics is a no-frills street driver that you can have fun with without braking the bank and will really be a rarity at the cruises and car shows you take her to.
It sports a 350 cubic inch small block Chevrolet that the owner was told had been modified and has a tri-power set of carbs on the Offy aluminum intake, MSD ignition, chrome valve covers, and rolls on Chevrolet Rally wheels and fat tires too.

Engine & Drivetrain
Pop the hood and you will see the 350 cubic inch small block Chevrolet that has been modified and has a tri-power set of carbs on the Offy aluminum intake, MSD ignition, chrome valve covers, performance spark plug wires, power brake booster with disc brakes up front, and cast iron exhaust headers to dual exhaust.
The engine is backed by a 3-speed automatic transmission backing it up as it rides on white wall tires and Chevrolet Rally wheels.
Interior
Befitting its bottom-end status, the Delray had minimal interior and exterior trim and limited options. As such, this model was popular with fleet buyers such as police departments and businesses.
However, ours has had a redo with a set of red high-back bucket seats in red cloth, the matching rear seat (needs some repair), matching red door panels, 3-speed polished shifter on the floor, fire extinguisher there too, red/black painted dash with factory gauges and instrumentation, Sunpro aftermarket tachometer on the steering column, chrome face push-button radio, and accessory gauges below the dash.
Exterior
For 1958, Chevrolet models were redesigned longer, lower, and heavier than their 1957 predecessors.
Our Delray has the broad chrome grille and quad headlights it is famous for, with ours having the black paint job on it, deeply sculptured rear fenders, side moldings, as well as the Delray nametags on each side.
Conclusion
The 1958 Chevrolet Delray Coupe models, like the one we have here at Skyway Classics, were longer, lower, and wider than it’s predecessors.
This 1958 has a straight black body with the red custom interior, small block Chevy engine with tri-power carbs, and really fits the description of an old-school muscle car. This is what all of “old guys” built for our street cars back in the sixties!
