He was always such a cute guy. Like the song he wrote Spread Your Wings--I think he probably felt like a little guy who spread his wings for a good long while. I love watching the videos where Freddie is leaping around the stage and Deacon is standing in one spot jamming his heart out.
His basslines went largely unnoticed. What a shame. If you're ever able to isolate the bass in the songs "play the game" or "you're my best friend," you'll realize that this man painted cathedrals with his notes. Tragically lost in the mix, in most cases. I've been in a band that performed Queen songs, and these seemingly innocuous basslines would flummox many bassists. You immediately know how important the bassline is when you hear a single wrong note. Everyone cringes. Deacy is unquestionably one of the most important bassists in rock history: although completely unheralded. The man deserves to enjoy his life as he sees fit. If I were to ever meet him, I would simply say "thank you."
he's a legend, so people want to know about him. Also this video was very respectful towards John and what he thinks. It's not shunning him for wanting a quieter life away from the limelight.
I’ve always championed his retirement even tho it means I won’t ever get to see him live again. Freddie was in many ways his closest ally in Queen. Some of Queen’s live concert footage show Freddie singing and then coming up to Deacy for him to join and sing along. When presented with Another One Bites The Dust, Freddie said he’d sing until his throat bled if he had to, in order to achieve the desired effect Deacy was going for.. Plus in an interview he once remarked that he loved singing Deacy’s songs as they had that tamla-motown feel. So in many ways he made John feel like an essential, important part of the group, something Brian nor Roger did to such an extent. I hope John or his family watches these videos so he could know how much he is loved and missed by all of us, and that we also respect his wishes and want nothing more than the best for him and his family. After all the years of joy happiness that he gave us, it’s the best way to thank him i think.
Mr. Deacon always looks so angry and put out in the recent photos of him. I suspect that he hasn’t had much peace since the movie came out. He is probably hounded by both the photographers and the public, with everyone wanting something from him. He is an excellent bassist, and gave Queen some of their best hits. I would love to meet him and shake his hand, but that makes me just like the people he is trying to avoid! Doesn’t it?
Leone Dolliver - well if you happen to run into him somewhere I don’t see the harm in it , now, if you wait for him outside his house waiting for a glimpse then that’s invading his privacy and a painful reminder of what they all went thru when Freddie had people hounding him and camping outside his house waiting to catch a glimpse. Different scenarios of course.

@@susanthompson509 I think that when you read the quote in context its obvious that Roger just phrased what he wanted to say the wrong way, he meant that John was a bit reclusive/introverted. I think he even cleared up what he meant in subsoquent interviews
Maybe John never got over Freddie's death, or just has a strong opinion that simply "Without Freddie it's not Queen". It might be too painful for him playing Queen songs in front of an audience and notice that there is no Freddie standing in front of him. Since their major debut, although with a lot of in-fighting regarding artistic matters, there was no replacement of band members. They stuck together and went through hard and good times. I hope he is enjoying a quiet (busy?) life with his wife and grandchildren (I am sure he has grandchildren if he has 6 kids).
It's exactly what it is, he was so shattered by Freddie's death, to hike it felt like it may as well be the end. Some people are like that, to him, no Freddie, no reason to keep it going. There have been quite a few times I've really been into something and when 1 friend says they don't want to anymore or whatever, I feel like it's over and time for something new.
we can speculate debate to our hearts content but only he knows the whys and wherefores ...it just gets boring after a while...i wonder what he would think reading all this nonsense??
I do not understand why there must BE a imagined reason for ANYTHING an artist may or may not do. Maybe this , maybe that , maybe Freddy .. maybe maybe.. ALL BS Has ANYONE noticed how olds he looks NOW? he was looking almost as old when Freddie died. It is a TIRESOME live he is a home type of a guy. This is FACT. He has SIX kids with the same woman and married when he was 25! This is NOT a womanizer type of man . I would bet that had Freddie not died . DEacon would have left the band. HE WAS TIRED (FACT)People in Music are EXACTLY the same as anyone. people DO grow tired, old, they want tranquility and if they have 100 million why not. Please DO bother looking into his life and do NOT come with cheap BS as to maybe maybe. There a short documentary of John from about 5 years ago. and he looked older than my father ( I bring my dada cause we are both musicians) there is a scene where he carrying Groceries dressed like a perfect grandad. totally bald and n of on a cigarette .. a few kids went after him and he runs and gets u n a VERY no superstar car and JUST SITS THERE.. opens the door and in a way that broke my fucking heart he calls the kids back and says "OK but just a few" This is the dude who ROCKED LIVE AID! wearing shorts. As a musician this was DEACON'S day to shine. he spin around in maid air with the bass. LOOK fore the clips. This man is a gentle soul a fucking GENIUS who joined one of the the top 5 bands in the world at age NINETEEN.. What were you guys doing at 19? So relax with your fucking fantasies and just be damn HAPPY for him .. he gave (at least ME) a purpose a joy. He is no longer a public man RESPECT HIM !
I'm sure they meant a quiet life, as in normal, everyday, family life.. Away from the spotlight... And I agree, leave deacon be..Mary went thru the same stuff, that's what she also chose to raise her family quietly....I wouldn't be a celebrity for anything....
Can't even imagine the pain he's been through in life. As long as he's happy and doing as he wishes with no disturbance, that's all that matters. Love him for the pure, innocent, shy, cutie he was 💖💖
You can't image the pain he's been through? I'm sure there's millions of people who've lost loved ones and not had the privilege of never having to worry about money. Although I agree Deaky is a legend and was my second favourite member (after Freddie obv) - I think that's quite a weird thing to say..
It just breaks my heart that he retired. But I ain't forcing him to come back. No. I respect that he is going through rough times and doesn't want to perform anymore. I get that. But I agree that NO ONE can replace Freddie. But I want to add, NO ONE can replace John Deacon. Or basically Queen.
There’s so much I want to say about John Deacon and Queen. 1. I hope John realizes that he was a very valuable contributor to Queen’s success. 2. John gave up his young years making albums and touring, while he had a young family. I can imagine all of the recitals, soccer matches, birthdays, anniversaries with Veronica, etc that he missed for so long. I hope he is enjoying his quiet life. 3. I sometimes wonder is John felt “betrayed” by Freddie? I mean, Freddie is like an older brother to John. (John’s father died when he was very young, I believe.) Then whatever happened, New York City gay bar scene, a bad crowd in Munich, Freddie did seem to go off of he rails. And then watching him die. Look at the video These are The a days Of Our Lives. The makeup was piled on Freddie because the Karposi’s sarcoma lesions was ravaging him. At the very end of his life, nearly, blind, barely able to stand, recording with just enough strength to sing a couple of minutes at a time. That must have been devastating to witness. 4. I was in the camp of “there is no Queen without Freddie!!!” I couldn’t accept Paul Rodgers or Adam Lambert. But then I watched Queen open the Oscars, and I see how much joy making music brings to Brian and Roger, and it would be wrong to rob them of that joy. In the end, it doesn’t matter who is singing the songs, because Freddie Mercury’s spirit lives and breathes through Queen, now and forever.
I wonder sometimes if John ever picks up his bass and plays a little remembering the old days. Maybe not it’s too painful....he was a musician his whole life, and a damn good one, so it just makes me wonder.
I wish people would leave the man alone he honored his Friend he loved Freddie an believes queen music died with Freddie he should be left alone an his wishes be honored
Sorry but Roger and Brian are flogging a dead horse with all this post Freddie Queen stuff. It's just greed. You've just got to look at all the adverts just now that use Queen songs....
Deacy had the right idea...when Freddie died so did queen...all this nonsense with Lambert and Rogers is nonsense. He was always Queens secret weapon. Thank you John.
I disagree, April 1985 Sydney Australia..my mum goes to see Freddie and Queen perform at their peak. I was 10. Now I'm 43, I've seen Queen and Adam Lambert 3 times...and they are frick'n awesome...Brian and Roger still kick ass live! The show goes on...
@Ted Ozdowski Adam Lambert a clown....I think you're the clown mate! The reason we are talking about Queen in 2018 has a'lot to do with Adam's popularity as Queen's frontman. They rocking arenas and doing a Vegas residency. Two sold out night"s at Madison Square Garden in 2019. It"s a celebration of Queen, that fans like myself missed and now we get to see Brian and Roger still kick ass and rock the joint. You can stay home and watch re runs of Queen Wembley or Live Aid and think about the glory days that are gone! Cheers
needles1987 ....Yes, he looks like him. But I hated him in the movie! I thought he acted more like Shaggy from Scubby Do, than John. I’m sure he is a great actor, but not this time!
@Antony Matthews I've experienced the same. No John, no Freddie... no Queen. If a vehicle had 2 wheels instead of 4 it wouldn't be a car would it. 2 members instead of 4 isn't queen.
No. I listen God Save The Queen, Good Company, I'm In Love With My Car, the songs that were not written or sung by Freddie. But it will be always very Queen for me.
@Daffa Hazza : Why not? The songs are written and recorded. Many guitar players can play them and do them justice... Music lives on even after bandmates pass on...
I respect John's decision to retire from QUEEN after the death of Freddie. I totally understand. Freddie is irreplaceable. Both will be missed by me. ❤
This guy sounds utterly smart, why are we questioning him as if there's something wrong. He's gained worldwide stardom, used his musical talent to reach the pinnacle and rich beyond people's dreams. Freddie died, and he's of the notion that there is no Queen without the quartet....so I'll just gently sail into the background and enjoy my time with the family in my later years..... As I said, what a smart man
a completely underrated bassist and way too often gets overlooked for what he's contributed to music as a whole. I've always loved watching Freddie playing with him onstage. :) I respect his decision to retire after losing Freddie and wish him nothing but the best.
A first rate bass player. It amazes me how many class bass players the Brits produced, from Paul McCartney, John Entwistle, John Paul Jones, Danny Thomson, Tony Levin, ...
I feel that for me when Freddie Mercury died, Queen ended. He is a person who’s not interested in fame or celebrity - just his music. and that’s the way it should be.
I think even before Freddie's death John was getting tired of touring, studio, touring, studio. I mean he had 5 or 6 kids at the time and really was not around as whole when he was home. John was a very different kind of guy then the others I don't think the celebrity life style was for John at first it was fun but as time went on he started to get tired of it. I read about 10 years ago and article about John called the "Broken Wing" it was about him dealing with being the band and trying to be a family man at one point John disappeared from it all no one knew where he was, supposedly John wife went to Freddie's home to speak to him about it and Freddie told Johns wife that if John needs to leave the band for any reason that he should and he would totally understand, Johns wife said Freddie was very concerned, understanding and supportive of Johns decision's. Basically John had a serious breakdown of some kind. Months after reading this article I went to look it up again and it was removed and I did to find it when I did was look up John Deacon on my computer and up came John deacon " The broken Wing"
It had to be hard, to split between a quiet life with 6 kids in the suburbs, and the tour/album life of a rock star. That's a lot of missed events and milestones, a lot of time away that would be hard on any marriage. As he said in an interview once, it was a very schizophrenic lifestyle. He never really wanted the rock star life, or even planned on things going the way they did. I've also read that he wanted out before Freddie got sick, but that he also was one of the first to notice something was wrong with him before he came out and admitted he had AIDS. Freddie was like a brother to him and brought him out of his shell, encouraging him. That kind of loss is overwhelming under any circumstances. Watching someone as full of life as Freddie die from a cruel disease no one deserves is way worse than can be imagined. I totally understand and respect his right to go off the grid. He doesn't owe anybody other than his family and his bandmates who know him way better than we do. Something happened that gave him a good reason for doing what he is doing. The best thing fans can do is respect that, despite our overwhelming curiosity. I am also fascinated by the man, who is a multi-talented genius and appears to possibly be on the asd spectrum. I wish him peace and happiness wherever he may find it. Between the 4 of them, there is enough story for a 16-hour movie. I would happily sit through it.
@@Rianne4561 amazing brain, IQ off the charts, socially challenged. Watching others for cues of how to act. Doesn't do well in groups, hated spotlight. Something about him just seems asperger. Rianne4561 When you buy a new car, you start to notice that model of car everywhere. Aspergers is like that. Once it is in your life you realise how commonplace it is. It is not a bad thing. Many people who have it realise that they are actually gifted, and wouldn't have it any other way.
The man (Deacon) touched the sun in the heavens and has seen it all. How can you top that? What a life. God bless you John and thank you for the memories.
I love how John Deacon respects Freddie Mercury like that. It’s so amazing! (Also I’m not presenting only by their first name because I never really knew them. So I’m just being respectful.)
I’m so happy that Deacy is living out a quiet life now. I could imagine how much it would hurt to still play without Freddie. So I hope he is doing well and that he retired This man is the reason I’m learning how to play bass. Much love and respect 🤗
A sublime musician, the backbone of Queen when Freddie was alive. I've always respected his decision to leave Queen once they lost Freddie, and admire his resolution on the matter. I know plenty still dig the band, and that's all cool, but for many, Queen simply wasn't Queen without their legendary front man. John saw that, and didn't want to be a part of whatever came post-Mercury. He's stuck to his guns and never looked for recognition elsewhere or sought to capitalize on his connection to the band, other than what's owed. Hats off to him!
Thankyou for showing the respect John Deacon deserves!!! The poor bugger was crushed when Freddie died! They were very close. He was the peace maker of the band and would calm things down when things got a little heated. He is a wonderful man!!!💜💜💜
Roger said this about John recently in Batterie magazine, “We do not realize what we have until we lose it. I feel [John Deacon’s] absence a lot when I’m in the studio. I really appreciate John’s incredible talent while re-listening to the old albums. His parts are always in good taste.”
@M J I don't think it was the singing thing. He contributed a lot - with his compositions and of course with his bass. He was supposed to be a bassist, not a singer. John is an introvert which means he probably does not like to be in the spotlight. Being followed by media or fans is not necessarily what shy person would seek for, especially having a family to protect. You can see he enjoyed playing the music, but he doesn't seem very comfortable during the interviews. Also John and Brian were often arguing about the songs, so without Freddie it would be probably even harder. Lately I was thinking a lot about the lyrics of I want to break free and I wonder whether it was the band what John wanted to break free from.
Unless he could speak the lyric, John wasn't down w/it. I don't think that it was that he COULDN'T sing as much as he just wasn't COMFORTABLE singing. Wasn't his thing. Doesn't matter. There were 3 other vocalists in that group! 4 genuises, though!!
John was and is a phenomenal musician and obviously a key force behind Queen and all their success. He put in the time, recorded all that timeless Queen music, played all those big time shows, participated in a couple of reunions and then walked away. Basically, Queen was a band for very close to 20 years with the original 4 and when Freddy tragically passed away, John took the high road and decided that he personally had done it all and that this chapter in his life was over. Long Live John Deacon!!
Real friendships are rare......where there's 100% trust......, these guys became brothers. I can only imagine the heartache he felt when FM passed away. Hopefully one day he says hello to the world again......if not, its totally cool....., he has the right to live his life however. I'm pretty confident he misses us, the fans....as we do, certainly miss him. I didn't think a band , ....music.....their history,......all of it, would affect me the way Queen did. They were different.......and that made them legends to this very day.
I respect his wishes. I am very thankful with what he has given all of us fans. He's brilliant. A great songwriter and a kick-a$$ bass player. He's earned his retirement from the spotlight. I just wish him well.
Queen has always been among the sound tracks of my life. Actually did a study on his playing and he ranks up there with Any of the great writers and players( before and since) period. I'm just glad my life spanned a huge portion of their career. Thank you for the video.
John Deacon was also a Musical Genius. He deserves his full retirement peacefully, abundant in terms of financial status and happy together with his own family. God bless you always John Deacon.... enjoy life while you can.
I respect John’s decision to stay out of the public eye but I wish she was still playing with the band because he was so talented and so amazing but I get not wanting to play after Freddie died it must’ve been really hard for him
I totally respect John for calling it a day in the 90s, as a life long queen fan I think queen will always live on in our hearts, but the queen I know & love is a thing of the past now
It's the best choice for him to live a private life than deals with his pain & depression by committing suicide. We are all aware how famous people ends when they are grievely affected by something or someone they cherish.
Losing a dear friend leaves a huge hole in your heart and nothing can be the same , it affects people different and I totally understand him not wanting to do Queen again ,he is a great bassist and very underrated.
Well you have the right as a human to do as you please. Respect to him for leaving the lime light and being an individual. No one will ever forget his contribution to one of the biggest bands in history. Thankyou John
I really appreciate you respecting him and not showing any recent videos of him it makes me so unbelievably sad to see people hassle him for a damn autograph he just wants to live his life quietly now and I wish more people could respect that
I feel like John Deacon is me. Fragile, quiet, not very into the public. I understand how he feels. As a bassist, he is one of my favorite bassists of all time.
Quite refreshing to hear of someone who was able to say "enough is enough" when it came to the whole fame thing. Most people nowadays would do anything to try and stay relevant.
I mean it took his friend dying but yeah, on the other hand idk if the other guys are milking it or just want to to feel like the old days when mercury was alive
If you think about it John and Freddie joined queen at similar times as Roger and Brian played before that so it must have hit John so hard I feel so sorry for them all and I wish Freddie Mercury was still alive he was a true legend and will never be forgotten
Not even starting to watch this video, I'll say this, John just wants privacy and we all should respect that. He was a great songwriter but now we need to answer his wish and let him be.
Steve Stevenson.....have you been living under a rock? Queen IS currently the greatest band in the world....and Adam Lambert is currently the greatest frontman. They sell out the biggest arenas and stadiums all over the world. This pandemic caused them to cancel a huge European tour....already soldout....with TEN DATES just at the O2 in London, because it kept selling out, and they kept adding another date! They've rescheduled it all for next year when...hopefully...the pandemic will be over. There's videos of them all over RUclips. I suggest you look them up for yourself. They are fabulous!
"Queen", was all 4 member's music, filtered and expressed through Freddy's miraculous voice. So, once the voice was gone, Queen was gone. Yet, Brian and Roger have a right to continue this music, that IS their life....So, accept reality, and just enjoy was use to be, and what is left.
Well said! I'm giving you applause!! One of the few people I've come across to understand where Brian & Roger are coming from! Yes, Brian decided to finish his quest to be a scientist, & Roger did a brilliant job w/his band, The Cross, but QUEEN is their life! & They have both said they want to keep Freddie's legacy alive. They're doing a great job, if you look at all the new fans in the younger generations!! Not to mention the huge success of the movie.
The best bassist of the generation, as an amateur I learned a lot from him, and it's really sad after knowing the latest news about him. But besides of that, I put a lot respect on Queen and specially for Mr. Deacon!
I hope John is living a nice happy life with his family :) he left us a great number of songs for us to enjoy. I'm sure he knows the fans today love and respect him
I don’t mind John’s absence. The poor guy has to deal with Freddie’s death and him retiring from Queen was the best decision for him. It’s still pretty sad that some people won’t leave him alone. Nowadays, he looks quite miserable. 😢
I don’t get why people can’t just give him his privacy I seen a video from a few weeks back and it was a group of people surrounding him asking him a bunch of question and he looked so upset and hurt and it broke my heart. He was close with Freddie and when Freddie passed it must of completely tore him apart give him his privacy pls 😢😢
In an era where most stars need their ego stroked like the rest of us need air, it's amazing to see a mega superstar like John not need all the attention. He gave us music fans so much, let's give back to him what he desires most, peace, quiet, and respect.
John Deacon is great and true : he kows that nobody can replace Freddie Mercury ! We miss Freddie so much Deaky. Just like you. Best friend of Freddie. You're a Legend too
yeah, i probably would have done the same thing if i were him. freddie was the heart soul of queen, there's no point in denying that. it just didn't make sense to even think about replacing him because it's impossible. wherever he is, i hope he's having a great life.
Thanks for this video. A new follower of QUEEN, I'm enthralled with their music, talent and personalities, individual and interacting. Really neat was reading the comments, informing also. I'm with those who understand John Deacon 'retiring' and am grateful he had the resolve and ability to do what he needed to do for himself. Watching his work and that of his band mates is inspiring even after all these years. Thanks again.
He was devastated by Freddie's death. They were great friends. I give him props for saying that's it bye. But I think he missed out in 2001 for the RRHOF he should of been there. I think it runs deeper with rest of the band. John was always quiet in the band but. The show must go on. Freddy was right.
We all love them. Let us respect the decisions of each member made and carry on enjoying their music. One day they will all go (as everyone) but their music will carry on. A BIG SALUTE TO ALL OF THEM AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC.👏👏👏

ALL BS
Has ANYONE noticed how olds he looks NOW? he was looking almost as old when Freddie died.
There a short documentary of John from about 5 years ago. and he looked older than my father ( I bring my dada cause we are both musicians) there is a scene where he carrying Groceries dressed like a perfect grandad. totally bald and n of on a cigarette .. a few kids went after him and he runs and gets u n a VERY no superstar car and JUST SITS THERE.. opens the door and in a way that broke my fucking heart he calls the kids back and says "OK but just a few"
This is the dude who ROCKED LIVE AID! wearing shorts.
@@takeonemusic5537 probably same thing... That it such nonsense...
Miss u John. All due respect. Not same without Fred. Brian n roger know that n know Freddie would want them to go on. Miss u Mr Metcury!
“He prefers a quieter life with his wife and six children”
Six children isn’t exactly quiet mate.
Well if properly raised, they can be quiet kids....
I'm sure they meant a quiet life, as in normal, everyday, family life.. Away from the spotlight... And I agree, leave deacon be..Mary went thru the same stuff, that's what she also chose to raise her family quietly....I wouldn't be a celebrity for anything....
@@barbarakhan507 true, i really respect Johns decision, it proves that he truly cared about making music, not becoming famous or rich
Can't even imagine the pain he's been through in life. As long as he's happy and doing as he wishes with no disturbance, that's all that matters. Love him for the pure, innocent, shy, cutie he was 💖💖
Disco Deaky is the cheese to my toast No one is pure if they’ve had six children.
@@yammmit Sorry to meddle but "pure" isn't a synonym for "virgin" if that's what you mean. She meant to say that John had a pure heart/soul.
Timid Kitten It is. This man should not be called pure. He’s the exact opposite. He’s a sex-crazed maniac.
TIMMMAY67 who John what the fuck man
You can't image the pain he's been through? I'm sure there's millions of people who've lost loved ones and not had the privilege of never having to worry about money. Although I agree Deaky is a legend and was my second favourite member (after Freddie obv) - I think that's quite a weird thing to say..
It just breaks my heart that he retired. But I ain't forcing him to come back. No. I respect that he is going through rough times and doesn't want to perform anymore. I get that. But I agree that NO ONE can replace Freddie. But I want to add, NO ONE can replace John Deacon. Or basically Queen.
You right girl roger
Exactly!!!! no one can Replace John Deacon! Queen is not fully Queen without Freddie Mercury and JOHN DEACON
Yea boi
Rogerina is great
There’s so much I want to say about John Deacon and Queen.
Chrissy Millsap im sorry, but i came across this ruclips.net/video/zzCRFDZDyJY/видео.html
@LoveOlderWomen well said. 👍 👑
Sorry but Roger and Brian are flogging a dead horse with all this post Freddie Queen stuff.
@@Annonymous81 I agree, the "so and so band died when so and so died" is just disrespect to the role and contributions of the other members.
Cheers
"The show must go on"
-freddie
No matter with who queen collab after freddie died, the show must go on. It's what freddie have always wanted
Fun fact: John Deacons son luke deacon met with joe mazzello and made a very quick brief cameo in bohemian rhapsody
Joe Mazzello looks exactly like John Deacon.
It’s kind of insane.
needles1987 ....Yes, he looks like him. But I hated him in the movie! I thought he acted more like Shaggy from Scubby Do, than John. I’m sure he is a great actor, but not this time!
Leone Dolliver He played Timmy from Jurassic Park, so...
Like Gwelym Lee (sorry if I spelled it wrong) looks a lot like Brian May
Exactly!!!
John Deacon is honestly my favourite member of Queen. Underated but so valuable. I respect his choices.
John Deacon is right, there is no Queen without Freddie Mercury.
Leo Cruz With no Freddie or John, Queen ceased to exist. I’d never go see Lambert.
No One But You Was A Great Song
Absolutely and Lambert isn't fit to wear freds crown. Nobody is.
@Antony Matthews couldn't put it better myself
@Antony Matthews I've experienced the same. No John, no Freddie... no Queen. If a vehicle had 2 wheels instead of 4 it wouldn't be a car would it. 2 members instead of 4 isn't queen.
Great guy, no Freddie no queen.
@Micheal Lyons I 100% agree with you! No Freddie-no Queen.
No. I listen God Save The Queen, Good Company, I'm In Love With My Car, the songs that were not written or sung by Freddie. But it will be always very Queen for me.
No Queen, no Queen
Yes! No Freddie, no queen!
@Daffa Hazza : Why not? The songs are written and recorded. Many guitar players can play them and do them justice... Music lives on even after bandmates pass on...
I love the way, in those huge concerts, he looks like he’s just browsing the aisles in Sainsbury’s.
John is deeply in love with his wife. Always has been. "You're my best friend."
He's living his life as he wants to.
Good on him.
He left his footprint on the world. Respecting his wishes is the least we can do to thank him for the great music he gave us.
I respect John's decision to retire from QUEEN after the death of Freddie. I totally understand. Freddie is irreplaceable. Both will be missed by me. ❤
The video sums up to 2 words. "he retired"
In their last song you can see Johns internal sadness. He was so hurt by Freddie’s passing. I truly believe they had the best connection in Queen
He was a reluctant Rock Star. He wanted a quiet life
Helen Vermeulen 💛
Holly Johnson How do you figure he would possibly be on the ASD spectrum? I honestly see no indication for that?
@@Rianne4561 amazing brain, IQ off the charts, socially challenged. Watching others for cues of how to act. Doesn't do well in groups, hated spotlight. Something about him just seems asperger. Maybe because I have a friend with a son who is also extremely talented musically and academically ( invites to workshop at Stanford good) and I can see some similarities.
Rianne4561 When you buy a new car, you start to notice that model of car everywhere.
Aspergers is like that. Once it is in your life you realise how commonplace it is.
It is not a bad thing. Many people who have it realise that they are actually gifted, and wouldn't have it any other way.
Tom Florio I don’t think John would’ve continued after the Millennium even if Freddie lived.
The man (Deacon) touched the sun in the heavens and has seen it all. How can you top that? What a life. God bless you John and thank you for the memories.
"Nothing really matters , anyone can see , nothing really matters to me" - John Deacon
I love how John Deacon respects Freddie Mercury like that. It’s so amazing! (Also I’m not presenting only by their first name because I never really knew them. So I’m just being respectful.)
John Deacon was very in ttruth : " Without Freddie : no more Queen. Nobody çan replace him..." Respect for this great man. Love you John. From France
Much love and respect to John.He is a fantastic musician and songwriter.
Wonderful video. I commend you for respecting Mr. Deacon's privacy by not divulging his address and not prying into his life. Very classy!😊
John just couldn't get over freddies death it was like a brother dying may he have a long happy and peaceful life!!
I’m so happy that Deacy is living out a quiet life now. I could imagine how much it would hurt to still play without Freddie.
So I hope he is doing well and that he retired
This man is the reason I’m learning how to play bass.
Hats off to him!
high respect for him
choosing to lay low and spend time with the family
best decision ever
god bless you Deac 😎
Thankyou for showing the respect John Deacon deserves!!! The poor bugger was crushed when Freddie died! They were very close. He was the peace maker of the band and would calm things down when things got a little heated. He is a wonderful man!!!💜💜💜
John Deacon is my favorite bassist of all time. From what I learned he's also an amazing man!
Roger said this about John recently in Batterie magazine, “We do not realize what we have until we lose it. I feel [John Deacon’s] absence a lot when I’m in the studio. I really appreciate John’s incredible talent while re-listening to the old albums. His parts are always in good taste.”
No one can replace you as well, Deacy Darling
I always got the vibe that Deacy was never all that comfortable in the public eye.
Aww Deaky😭 i hope he's happy and doing well wherever he is ❤
John was and is a phenomenal musician and obviously a key force behind Queen and all their success.
Respect his wishes/privacy and wish a happy and healthy life for him and his family. Thanks for the music.
Good for him, respect his wishes
I respect his wishes.
I am very thankful with what he has given all of us fans. He's brilliant. A great songwriter and a kick-a$$ bass player.
He's earned his retirement from the spotlight. I just wish him well.
leave the man alone he just needs his privacy 🙏🏼💕 we love John Deacon ❤️
i have a high respect to you john..queen is not complete w/o you..you did your best..
Queen has always been among the sound tracks of my life. Actually did a study on his playing and he ranks up there with Any of the great writers and players( before and since) period. I'm just glad my life spanned a huge portion of their career. Thank you for the video.
I wish the best for John. I miss him, but I hope he’s finally enjoying the quiet, unassuming life he deserves. Cheers, Deacy!
It's great that you have refrained to mention gossip and rumors. Respect the man's choices and celebrate his legacy.
John Deacon was also a Musical Genius. He deserves his full retirement peacefully, abundant in terms of financial status and happy together with his own family. God bless you always John Deacon.... enjoy life while you can.
Maybe the best bass guitar player of all.time. i respect him....i respect his choice...without Freddie there is no Queen. God bless you Deacy
I really appreciate you respecting him and not showing any recent videos of him it makes me so unbelievably sad to see people hassle him for a damn autograph he just wants to live his life quietly now and I wish more people could respect that
he’s such an excellent musician and seems like such a sweet caring and wonderful person too WE LOVE U JOHN
I mean it took his friend dying but yeah, on the other hand idk if the other guys are milking it or just want to to feel like the old days when mercury was alive
i really appreciate that this video didn’t go any further into anything that john didn’t seem to want shared. thank you.
Was only ever one queen. Total respect and best wishes to John deacon ❤️
part of the only band where every member wrote a number one hit song, and Freddie could never be replaced.
If you think about it John and Freddie joined queen at similar times as Roger and Brian played before that so it must have hit John so hard I feel so sorry for them all and I wish Freddie Mercury was still alive he was a true legend and will never be forgotten
What a respectful report - just the facts as you see them. And not prying or being salacious is refreshing to say the least
Wishing you all the best wherever you are John Deacon! You and your bass are truly missed.💜 #Queen4ever #Legend
Individually, four great musicians--together the brilliant Queen
Not even starting to watch this video, I'll say this, John just wants privacy and we all should respect that. He was a great songwriter but now we need to answer his wish and let him be.
QUEEN WITH ADAM LAMBERT HEADLINING IT IS SUCH A JOKE
c. lince you’re a joke
he's not bad. from a few clips i've seen, Lambert is almost a choir director leading the audience in song
Nope. You're wrong.
NERD Incorporated what’s the point of replacing Freddie with someone who has the exact same voice ? It’s just stupid
Yes
He’s still adorable.
Thanks for doing an update on John, Queen was a great Band and sorely missed!
He was close with Freddie and when Freddie passed it must of completely tore him apart give him his privacy pls 😢😢
boo hoo
In an era where most stars need their ego stroked like the rest of us need air, it's amazing to see a mega superstar like John not need all the attention. He gave us music fans so much, let's give back to him what he desires most, peace, quiet, and respect.
Just want to say I love and miss John Deacon. If he wants his privacy then it should be so. LOVE YOU JOHN 💝
The way you handled this was very respectful, and I appreciate that.
I think John manages Queens finances to this day.
I'm glad to know he approved the biopic. I always wondered what he thought about it.
My two bass heroes: Peter Hook and JOHN DEACON!
legends!
John you are still so important to all of us.Queen fans miss you terribly. I hope with all my heart that you are happy and doing well.
I am wishing John all the peace and happiness in the world so glad that he’s doing well. 😇😇😇
He has been through a lot. 😢😢😢
He seems like a real sweetie and has an amazing talent. I hope he’s doing okay whatever he’s up to and enjoying himself.
We all love them. Let us respect the decisions of each member made and carry on enjoying their music. One day they will all go (as everyone) but their music will carry on. A BIG SALUTE TO ALL OF THEM AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR MUSIC.👏👏👏
ff FF what a lovely comment!
Thank you. It answered questions succinctly yet still very respectful of John's privacy. A rare quality these days. Good luck to you and God bless.
