A common misconception around nukes is that if one is detonated alone it means nuclear winter and crazy radiatin. Ever since 1945, humanity has conducted a total of 2121 nuclear tests with 2476 devices. With the sum of the exposions accounting for 545 megatonns. Nuclear winter and other long term side effects would not matter in the slightest if the nukes were to be used efficiently.

Radiation is not that widespread I think it's because nukes were detonated airburst and not when they hit the ground this reduces the radioactiveness but increases the firepower of the nuke this is why they could rebuilt Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Also, the arvument Ymir can just create infinite indestructible titans out of think air isnt canon. The author confirmed the wall titans had humans in them, so she'd need Eldians to create them. Without Eldians on earth, she'd basically be stuck with what she has.

the ww1 part is somewhat flawed, chemical weapons do damage by contact, chlorine, along with phosgene, has been known to do damage in the skin, eyes, and other parts of the body, not to mention the usage of mustard gas which deals more damage on the skin, a good demonstrator is tear gas, which can irritate on contact. But the most important parts of 1914 armies(except for machine guns) are the siege cannons and the heavy artillery. I think the strategy used will be to lure the titans inland and wage a protracted layered defence, using the air services to drop bombs and the artillery to hammer on the titans, the usage of telephones, bicycles, and runners will be critical, and the initial strategy of all the large armies in europe is a mobile warfare so they may have difficulty in adapting to a more static strategy, but they can act well on counter attacks.

    • @KarolusTemplareV

In the aftermath of WW2? The world is at peak production rates, has a shitload of material produced, in production and planned. Just as a note, in 1944 the US alone produced a total of 75.000 combat aircraft. A late years of the war scenario or a postwar scenario where the rumbling takes place it justs destroys the best chance for the titan attack, because in a 1939 scenario what the world would lack is enough time to gear up...but if you are already geared up and pumping war material like crazy, it goes very bad for the rumbling. Also very fast deployment of Fritz-X type of bombs(a guided german antiship bomb made by the germans late in the war) or mass use of Okha (literal purpose built kamikaze rocket planes with a warhead on the tip) like devices will make targeted attacks possible and very deadly. True, ground troops would have limited value (they will still do something), but at the point of the vulnerability to attack the nape of the neck is discovered (and it will be discovered), planes with rockets and dive bombers for example will have a field day. On the water is kinda the same story. While battleships , specially fast ones will be deadly (able to keep distance and unleash a pounding for hours with high-weight caliber rounds), the kicker is the air arm of the navies. In 1945 USa had 99 aircraft carriers of all types, with many of them able to go faster than what a horse can gallop (so.....faster than titans even on land), that means each carrier will be able to attack for days, retreat, rearm, come back, repeat. I don't know, I mean, any WW2 point after 1943 (including inmediate postwar years) where the scale of the conflict soared to it's final heights is a bad point for the rumbling, too much shit capable of killing titans already around.

@@KarolusTemplareV True but you forget the fact that much of the weaponry of WWII is not as accurate, and although they could likely achieve a victory it would be quite costly. Especially as range would still be an issue, although I'm sure its possible given your assessment a victory is achievable. Okay lets see what we have for WWII-Post War
Now we have to assume that the world is aware of the rumbling on its way and for the time being unified as a united front against this severe threat. The US although the first atomic capable country is unlikely to have enough bombs to be worth while in this fight so everything will be mostly what the US and other countries had already at their disposal and anything that was already coming off the assembly lines. I'm going to add the first jet fighters as well.
      So lets see.
Several countries were devastated during the war.
      China
      Japan
      Germany
      Parts of Russia
      England.
      Italy
      Parts of Northern Africa
Then there is the fact that hundreds of other existing nations scattered around have little to no appreciable military except anything that was probably WWI to pre- wwII
Lets assume that they will be unable to provide much help well except Russia cause they don't know better, and the devastated axis powers and allied powers sends their technology and research to be reverse engineered by the US and or built so they can get stuff in production to combat the new threat.
The US is unlikely to use most of the conventional equipment provided to them. and will likely send its new allies its own equipment with a few of the ones they were given to build being chosen..
I could see the ME-262, The Golster Meteor, and the Shooting Star popping up. All jet fighters, with perhaps even the German bomber as well. They likely will provide use in the later campaign of the conflict as the titans reaches developed countries or areas that are deemed suitable. Conventional fighters however will likely still provide the bulk of the fighter due to practical reasons.
The main issue here would be range. Range will be necessary for the united forces to kill as many titans as possible.
Right away the use of high level bombing will be necessary. Bombers of any type but especially the long range high level bombers will be the best chance of wiping out a good number of titans. Given these monsters could tank a sizable number of weapons and keep moving. Multiple runs will be needed until its determined what is the best weapons necessary. True there is a ungodly amount of bombers in this era. They can only hold so much. medium range bombers and light bombers will likely not be needed unless they can perform other roles that can be useful.
The Fritz-X anti-Ship bomb could be used. Its essentially a guided bomb. If dropped at a appreciable height and guided smoothly it should be able to reach potential targets. That being said it wasn't that accurate and early devices used to guide it might suffer severe interference with the sheer amount of heat the Titans could be producing. Perhaps if given a way to explode when it detects its target could be done. Although this would limit its effectiveness from making direct kills and more for maiming. Hmm perhaps using them to maim and disable titans in the front of the horde to trip and make other titans easier targets.
A bomb that could be quite useful would be the earthquake bombs the British had. Massive bunker busters, that if also given a way to explode near the titans could be useful in tearing them apart. High level bombers could very well deploy them.
Fighter bombers and heavy fighters and Jet fighters could be useful in this fight. Their weaponry should punch through titans fairly well. If they can get behind them and hit the necks even better. The only problem is they are likely the ones that has to get close and its possible some might not survive the severe heat especially the tempermental early jet engines.
The V-1 and the V-2 will likely see heavy use.
The V-1 the father of the Cruise missile will probably be heavily used. given proper cordinates and timing the V-1 could slam into titan groups and maul them. I could see this weapons being increasingly used on the Titans due to being able to be launched from a distance. They might have different engines however or refinement.
The V-2 could also be seen as being used. heavier payload it could be used to devastate multiple titans. Although accuracy would be abysmal it could be fired into the general area and its explosion disabling titans or killing a couple.
      artillery and tanks.
These can shoot for several miles, so they can help in the conflict however their roles would be is for them to finish off fallen titans and or provide a defense of towns, and cities. Most of the artillery in WWII by wars end are perfectly capable of wiping out titans. The issue would be in how they would best be deployed and that likely would be as far as from the front line as possible except for tanks and other mobile pieces that can shoot and run. One giant issues is titans are fast. they walked at a pace of around 30 to 31 miles. Doesn't seem like much until you realize that most tanks in that era were not that fast either. The best tactic would be is for them to create holes in the titan line and aid the bombers and long range fire. Hoping to create gaps that could be safe for the tanks and artillery to get through and perhaps cause damage on the otherside.
Titans were hellishly fast in water. Best course for naval vessels would be is to set up massive mine fields in the path of titans and depth charges. Also remaining in deep water so as to avoid the tsunami sized waves as the titans breached the coast.
With the right coordination its likely that humanity can survive with WWII era weaponry, however its likely large sections of Earth will be devastated by the rumbling, with still millions dead, especially in nations that didn't have the more modern weapons or were sacrificed to be killzones.
One problem however remains and that will be Eren. If humanity can break his front of the titan horde they could have a go at trying to eliminate him. That being said his titan is a armored beast that likely could tank the sizable majority of human weaponry. A combined assault will be needed to see if breaking something is possible. High level bombing with heavy munitions, rocket attacks by aircraft, and artillery barrage will be needed to see what can crack. Sucide attacks likely could be useful as well given that they would likely be more accurate than conventional weapons. In the end the best course of action would be in waiting and then deploying a atomic bomb in a V-2 and slapping Eren in the face with it.

Like the Bismarck or Yamato or Iowa. Also German produced around 118000 planes while Japan produced around 72000, tho these are rough estimates, America produced 300000+ alone so I feel like the numbers of planes are down played a lot.
Other comments also mentioned battleships like French dunkerque, but stepping aside from battleships, resource management is also very important, Japan and Germany didnt had the best geographical position but with the aid of the allies like Soviet, America, or even China with its massive land area. Also bombers specifically British bombers mainly the lancaster were retro fitted to carry a 22,000lb "grand slam" bomb that was able to Penetrate MOUNTAINS.

Yeah no....we could nuke the rumbling (Modern tech vs Rumbling). Eldia is on Madagascar canonically (the AOT world is ours just inverted) so 3 or 4 nukes against the rumbling as it starts (and trust me WE WOULD KNOW IF IT STARTED) and it's over like that. First we would prob try to negotiate with Eren to save Eldia and it's people....then somebody (probably Russia given it's leader) would nuke Eldia as Eren would be like "NoOOoO hUMan bAd"....boom, rumbling dealt with. The Nuclear Winter after wouldn't even be that bad given that it would be isolated to just Eldia because lord knows the USA, UK, and other world powers would NOT let the rumbling even get OFF the island.
But fine, say we couldn't use nukes....the amount of sheer Daka (Ork word for firepower) the USA can output ALONE is astronomical....we would only need 1 or 2 aircraft carriers and boom....rumbling over.

For the WW1 scenario, I would agree with the result. For the WW2 scenario, the world’s armies would probably be sufficient to defeat all of the titans. We need to keep note that the US had already been working on the atomic bomb before it joined WW2 and it would more than likely have been produced faster if the Titans appeared in the middle of WW2. The sheer number of warships, artillery and tanks are enough to easily kill titans with a bombardment of various shells. Non-bomber aircraft can easily perform dive bomb attacks and slowly take out the titans. Those forces should stall for long enough for the atomic bomb to be mass produced and win the war. Note that nuclear winter will most likely not happen as the bombs dropped in WW2 are atom bombs which are thousands of times weaker than the currently used thermonuclear bombs. WW2 era would win but at a huge cost similar or even surpassing the losses of the real timeline. Current day is a joke. Warships fire from 100km+, aircraft fire from 100km+, tanks are just as fast as the titans can are very accurate, teams with ATGMs could get decently close and kill a few, rocket systems and long range artillery far and go to a new position, and not to mention the range of ICBMs like the Minuteman lll and Topol M being above 6000km. Modern day would be more worried about the costs than the war itself

Firstly they could not achieve a successful chain reaction needed for the big boom and acquiring key ingredients such as heavy water and uranium were not easy not while the RN rules the sea and USAF rules the sky thats why by 1941 it was decided by everyone including AH that the nuke program would be in low priority. Thats why when the leaders of the german nuke program such as Heisenberg heard about hiroshima, they were truly shocked. They truly believed that the nukes werent possible until 2 decades later but the allied did it in just 3 years.

The whole “modern military would’ve decimated the rumbling” is stupid as if it wasn’t obvious enough. If you actually watched AOT then you should’ve know that titans slowly becoming obsolete against modern warfare and it was brought up pretty early in season 4 .what people forget is that the rumbling is a controlled large scale weapon, you doesn’t need it to decimate nations just for it to decimate nations and humanity just for it to be useful, you can just use 30-40 titans one at a time to destroy fleets or clearing coastal defenses to make way for your marines to make an amphibious landing.

I feel as though that this guy is underestimating the real world, if we say that this invasion starts from Madagascar because if you look at a map of AOT Paradise Island is literally Madagascar. That would still give time for every world power to respond and to assess the threat. I think once they see the damage being done to Africa, they'd either try to join together to stop this threat. Or enter talks with Eren. I forgot to mention but I'm talking about 1930s-40s world btw. Also my guy is woefully highballing bomber numbers. WW2 tanks often had pretty high caliber guns meant for piercing instead of the general high explosive shells that we see used by Marley in the show, now once the world learns of the titan's weak point I feel as though it would be a slaughter. Also by 1945 the titans are done for because, let's just say here comes a second sun. WW2 fighter planes could carry some small bombs, their guns would be effective at at least slowing down titans if not outright killing them. Also one thing about AOT is that the author kinda is bad at showing accurate scaling, this is most prevalant when Armin in Colossal Titan form steps of a battleship and it seems to be the size of his foot. If we assume that the battleships of the show are based off either pre-dreadnought battleships or dreadnoughts, then even Armin would be of similar size to them. Taking that into account and the fact that by the 1930s-40s battleships had grown to massive proportions and that were much faster than their predecessors, yeah idk if Titans would really dominate against them. The water vapour danger is still present however, just not as big if we consider accurate scaling.

The Britishs had the "tall boy" (a 12.000 pounds bomb) killing around 10.200 other titans. global information infrastructure in ww1 was such a colossal shitstorm that they might actually still fail ESPECIALLY with the near universal anti-information culture they had going on but even just a couple years into ww1 when so much of that power structure had been eroded they would likely win and by the time you get to WW2 it's pretty much a given, let alone any time after the internet is an actual present [thing].

I don't think we're taking into consideration how fast the Rumbling is. It took Europe at minimum weeks to transport a bunch of equipment to Ukraine.
The Rumbling took three days to get done, that's only enough time for America to mobilize a few Naval fleets to protect the US while Europe and Asia and every other continent gets destroyed.

Then the speed is not consistent with the anime, you literally see them probably going 40-50mph at most, which obviously isn't enough to cover even a single semi big-sized country in 3 days. Also, dealing with walking meats with no real offensive capabilites is different than dealing with weapons that could easily kill you. Considering a single capable modern bomber could bring eren down, not much would've been stomped. And the thing about stomping is that they come to YOU, so all people would really need is to man the guns and wait

Airpower exists, it's much faster to mobilize and strike with it when compared to sending ground equipment to a foreign nation whose logistics are under attack.

It feels like you are not considering a lot about the specifics of the Titans themselves.
Some of their basic abilities render a significant chunk of the weapons useless.
And for those that work, they need to hit a very specific area.

    • @thorveim1174

this. Even with our modern world most of our weapons are simply not made to fight titans, since nothing IRL behaves the same way as a titan's body (extremely large but soft target with barely anything vital in it). Most ammunition meant to pierce armor then detonate inside a vehicle would likely pierce through your average titan without dealing any meaningful damage along the way. Meanign the titans would have an advantage early on, until the world's power adapt to this new form of target. Shells and missiles are a precise science always means for a specific formof target after all

    • @rpk321
      @rpk321 10 дней назад

@thorveim1174 Yeah. The vast majority of anything lesser than a MBT tank cannon won't even be able to penetrate or damage the Titan.
And the 50-60m titans are too big for the damage of the cannon to be meaningful.
And because it is not the very specific tiny weakness in hard to hit place deep within their hardened flesh, they will regenerate quickly and render all of those tiny damage that were dealt completely pointless.
So yeah. You can write off a vast majority of weapons, even modern weapons.
And of those weapons that can reliably kill the titans, they need some adjustment to adapt their targeting to that of a giant titan's tiny weakness.
Those weapons are also highly expensive and has relatively slow production rate.
      Nukes aside.
It is a lot closer than what these military wank show.
Everytime modern military are dragged in, they conveniently not taking consideration in various abilities, contexts, and the intellegent of the oppositions.

I do have to say just like how a lot of what you say 'Military wanks' overgloss some fact, even some fantasy enjoyers like you forget the fact that you overgloss a lot of facts and cannot defeat physics and biology. Let's say a tank round did not manage to penetrate a titan, there will still be damage due to the fact that *kinetic force cannot be dissipated and will still transfer* meaning that there will always be bruising (damage to the tissue) on the unpenetrated part that got hit, look up photos of people getting bruised and sometimes having broken ribcage after a bullet hits their body armor. There is the fact that biomechanically, you a titan or even any human cannot walk without the kneecaps, specifically qaudriceps and patellar (knee cap) tendon (see: What Are Kneecaps For? By Rehab and Revive). Also the fact that modern weapon can infact damage those titans even tho it is a minor damage like those muscle soreness after workout it is still damage, the argument you're making with 'modern weapon obsolete' is akin to 'I'm a human i am big and my skin is tough, those mosquitoes will never suck my blood because they're small with small needle that do no damage rendering them obsolete' but yet mosquitoes still manages to pierce your skin and suck your blood. Aside from that since they're surviving on high temperatures that must mean that their metabolic processes are adapted to high temperate, lower the temperature and you can kill those things meaning if you somehow magically manage to douse those titans with anything cold like liquid nitrogen then it has a high cjance of dying, an example would be those dumb extremophile bacteria that can live on thermal vents with temps or 100c but will die if you drag it to an ambient temp of 25c because it simply cannot do metabolic activity. There's also the fact that gravity is a limiting factor but let's not get into that topic since we'll assume this world has less G force than earth. What I am trying to say is that a lot of some fantasy arguments can always be countered with years, decades or even millenia full of research, results and experiments meanwhile when the fantasy enjoyer argues with a 'military wank' it usually boils down to 'iT's MaGiC BrO' or similar variation.

@@asinner7418just saying but the rumbling is a free weapon if you think about it as paradis would just likely use it as the spear head to create a buffer zone to allow their armed forces to enter marley because the rumbling is not an event that happens on it’s own, it’s a large scale controlled weapon that at worst could still give you huge advantage on the start of a conflict and that how you should look at it because we’re not fighting titans, we’re fighting humans.
