My friend even joined her and Ann Cleeves in Brenda's room one night and they giggled over beers and photos of their dogs. She is a huge inspiration to those of us of a certain age too. Vera isn't a Rottweiler. She is a complete marshmallow. She CARES about the people she works with, even if she does bark at them to get going on a problem. Vera's gift for getting the killers is that she understands that there are real overpowering emotions involved. Vera has a LOT of emotional baggage herself. I genuinely love this series. It's smart, full of human entanglement, and I like the characters.
When I watch Vera, it’s like being with family. The characters all play well off each other. And the storyline is well done. I can’t wait to see the new season.

The Brits may be botoxed but the US shows are more about how hot is she in her tight jeans and heels and how buff is he with not a hair out of place and who can swing their hips the sexiest with their big gun on their hip? The Brits are about brains and technique and logic, the quality is way better.

'Vera' is the only drama series that engages me and I can't stop watching. Good believable plots with interesting characters and dark humour in the British style. Sadly programmes like this are few and far between.

Absolutely love Vera! Casting is superb and the writing is great. Just finished watching Season 10 ... I'm so sad it's over. I think it's time to start back and start rewatching from season 1. Got hooked on Brit mysteries, comedies and panel shows years ago. I lived in the UK for 5 years, and appreciated the viewing even mote when I got back to Canada and saw the offerings here ...

Hello from Sweden! I've just seen the newest episodes and have to say this season feels like it's the best of them all. What I like particularly about Vera is how she seems to see the tragic sides of people's destinies. The scenes when she's alone, just sitting and contemplating, are very fine.
Found another wonderful series. It's Australian. City Homicide. 5 seasons. Real people, great storylines, brilliant acting. Binge watched. No useless violence, nor swearing. Loved loved it.

Brenda Blethyn is such a great actress - I've admired her for decades. The detective-murder-mystery series "Vera" is one of the best on TV. I'm even re-watching old shows on RUclips now that I've previously seen on TV. Being a tad old myself, her natural physical aging is so refreshing - a true natural beauty - so pretty. Quite awhile ago, I wrote to the address given on the internet for an autographed photo from her (to my first name, of course), but I've never received a reply. I did offer to pay for it. I presume she never sees most of her fan mail, since it's probably going through an agent somewhere in a different city. I still love her, though! I'm still laughing at the Kenny story - can't get the image out of my mind.
Such a lovely, good humored, intelligent woman! Vera is my all time favorite program and Ms. Blethyn is my top favorite actor. I've been binge watching for 3 days for 12 hour stretches cannot believe I just actually told you that but it's TRUE I used to watch Vera on my telly but lost the programming and have now got it back so catching up from day one again. Ontario Canada here, she is such a natural. I can watch her all day long. They are all amazing actors on this show.

I record every one and then - re-watch at a later date. Don't watch much TV but VERA is a MUST.
