This song holds a special place in my heart, as it was the song that changed my opinion of The Crusade. I didn't like it at first, then I saw them live, decided to give the album another go, and it was this song that really opened my eyes (ears?) to how good it actually was. Excellent cover.
The lyrics are related to a real and sad event just like some other songs by them :(.
All of a sudden everyone (in the comment section) is a fan of The Crusade album. Yet when it came out most people were shitting on it saying this and that 😂 My ears were living off that masterpiece when I was in high school.
Right?? This is still my favorite Trivium album after all these years. I love all of their stuff but The Crusade just takes the cake 👌
Two reasons: it was ahead of its time, and it's such a contrast to Ascendancy. 2006 was deep metalcore territory, and everyone was wanting/expecting a metalcore follow-up to Ascendancy, not thrash. The Crusade is an album that has aged very well.
There are tracks which aged very well (this one, Dragon, - by the looks of their current tour -To The Rats, Detonation, Broken One, Ignition, Sadness)
There are tracks that didn't age very well (World, The Rising, Contempt)
Overall it's tied for worst record overall with Vengeance Falls imo, and both are great records with great songs in them

I've always thought crusade was an awesome album. I thought shogun was pretty shitty when it came out with the exception of a few songs on it. Upon furthur listening it's actually a pretty decent album but definitely not as amazing as some make it seem. I've always though crusade was superior to shogun...
I remember being a teenager and just listening to this album on repeat def one of my fav trivium songs and the solo section is so so good

Dude, how you gonna cover another album before finishing Shogun? You're missing Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis if you aren't aware.
You do realise in order to finish Crusade one must undertake to task of doing the title track too which is by far more technical and demanding than Torn Between ever could be. Torn Between = 😴, Crusade = 💪🏻🤨

I was Watching your Last videos and I realize how great is "The Crusade" Album, I don't understand the hate, I Actually Love how Trivium combine Dream Theater, Metallica and Iron Maiden influences in the Album, maybe Shogun is Better or popular Than "The Crusade" But that doesn't Matter, because it's a great Album too
