Borrowing this from another comment perhaps they also think the elevator is the exit so when the first survivor finally starts the elevator and starts going down guiding light thinks it’s all over till figure cut the rope and we start falling and guiding light sticking with us realizes there is more floors
No do you see in the courtyard there is a statue of an angel or an Archangel that is maybe guiding light and it protects us always and respawns us in the lobby
Actually it could be the big statue at the courtyard of the real person of the hotel to fight against those monsters and he died so the others build a giant statue of him at courtyard to honor him and he is still known as the guiding light

My theory : the guiding light is the main Villain in doors and the other Entity's are trying to Stop you from Going to the Exit knowing it's a trap and the entity's trying to Stop you are the people who got tricked by going to the exit by the guiding Light and the next level are the people who Almost Survive the Trap but Died by the guiding Light by just leading them into Other traps.
How ? They kill you in a brutality way. For example figure crash all you're bones and slaughter us. Seek turn us to liquid when he catch us. So the best choice is to escape with guiding light even if it's not safe. You have no other choice
The entity will Try to Kill you and if you die in the hotel you will Wake up out of a dream and if u Die to the guiding Light your now stuck in the hotel Forever
Example : Seek trys to get you while the guiding Light Leads you to the Rooms and crawl space while seek is Trying to Help you get out of the Nightmare.

I have a theory: Guiding light was actually the dead soul of the first person who was in the hotel. The red subtitles we're figure's subtitles, wich means that guiding light died to figure.
Guiding light guides you through the hotel. Guiding light is more powerful than you think. Guiding light helped to seal the library door once you escaped. He couldn’t crack the lock. Guiding light can spawn things. After the seek and library chase, he spawns a lock to lock the doors. He knows the only way back is forward. So he guides you through the hotel you should have never entered hoping to help you free.

Imagine if on both floors there was a bossfight, maybe on the hotel theres figure, and on floor 2 theres a type of seek or idk(i didnt looked the floor 2 boss), i think that of the hotel there should be a boss different, not figure, figure appearing 2 times is boring (same on floor 2) bc is just too repetitive, on the hotel i would put a bossfight fighting window, an deleted entity(idk if deleted but nobody talks abt it, and nobody upload a clip whenmthey looked at window, and it got deleted of lobby), and it results he's way bigger, hes dark, and on floor 2 i would put guiding light getting evil, saying he is tired of helping and helping, nobody worried for him, and he wants to take revenge, so he transforms on a soldier cyan with transparent body and u have to dodge his attacks and attack him, and on that fight, when it starts curious light appears and appears like a warrior transparent with body yellow, and he helps u to defeat him, and, in floor 3, when u die, guiding light will no appear, the one that is gonna appear is curious light
