    I live in northern Arkansas, and Pawpaws are common here. The entire fruit is edible, except the seeds. If thoroughly ripe there is no need peeling it, because the ripe peeling is very delicate and tender. In all the world the Pawpaw is my favourite fruit. It tastes like sweet creamy custard.

    You asked for our Top Tens!
    TOP TEN:
    1: Prickly Pear (I'm glad you got a better one!)
    2: Cherries (especially Rainier Cherries)
    3: Granadilla (tart and sweet and I like crunching the seeds)
    4: Mangosteen (got it on your recommendation and they were so tasty!)
    5: Lemon (lemon flavored treats or unsweetened lemonade, I even eat it fresh)
    6: Lychee (super tasty but very hard to find good ones here in Canada)
    7: Pomelo (sadly a compound in it means I cant eat it or grapefruit or lime)
    8: Grapes (particularly black grapes and Concord grapes for the intense flavour)
    9: *Good* apples (Jazz is my favourite variety, excellent sliced with peanut butter)
    10: Pears (particularly Bosc pears or 'Asian pears', for that crispiness)
    My partner likes durian but the rest of the fam doesn't, and I'm curious to try one since eating the whole thing on your own sounds... intimidating :P I don't guarantee I'll like it but I'm open to it and think I *might*. Also going to reserve and cook the seeds as per your suggestion!
    Keep up the good work, loving the binge of this channel!

      You do not have to pay 80$. You can get a delicious sun or hay-ripened mango for less than 1$ each, and get to pick from more than 200 varieties in India.

    So how do berries from temperate areas, like strawberries, marionberries, thimbleberries, tayberries, lingonberries, etc., plus nectarines, cherries, plums, pears, etc., compare with guava, mango, passion fruit, paw paw, sapote, etc.?

    Thanks for the video. We have 8 different mango varieties. It is my favorite fruit, and I want to have at least one tree of each variety that exists. We also got 3 different Durian varieties, but not Lukak yet. I am super interested in Dabai and Velvet Apple. :-)

      @howboutthemapples596 7 лет назад +2

      unfortunately, birds and different rodents like to eat them unripe. if a human were to try this they would become ill. on the plus side they will ripen off of the plant. just find one that is large and starting to turn slightly soft. put it on the counter until it is totally yellow and smells like a tropical fruit.

    Hey fruit enthusiasts! Anyone have a recommendation on where to pick up any of these in the San Francisco bay area?

    • @WeirdExplorer
      @WeirdExplorer  7 лет назад +1

      Berkeley Bowl! And if you are by San Jose there are a couple great Vietnamese fruit markets in Silver Creek Plaza.

    • @Veriss88
      @Veriss88 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much! I'll probably make a special trip out to San Jose to check out the market :D
      I have been to the Berkeley bowl before to get cherimoyas, with mixed results. Which reminds me, how the heck do you choose a cherimoya?? The first one I tried was heaven and it is currently my favorite. I went back a few weeks later and picked up all that they had in stock because I loved it so much and they were nothing like the first one.. no matter how much I let them ripen they never got soft and had a crispy-ish texture and not much flavor. :(
      Thanks for taking the time to reply!! You have been a huge inspiration and inspired me to try as much fruit as I can get my hands on :)

    • @WeirdExplorer
      @WeirdExplorer  7 лет назад +1

      Thats so nice to hear, glad to throw some fuel on your fruit hunting desires. yeah I forget the name of the shop, but there are two fruit shops in the plaza, one is better than the other. I saw a lot of things there that I had only seen in SE Asia. Let me know what you find :). Oof yeah.. picking a cherimoya is tough.. probably someone else could give better advice on here. I just wait until they're soft and cross my fingers.
