New to the channel I currently work for Aviva doing an insurance assessments. if we find vehicles fitted with LED headlights, we remove them as they’re not always legal as evidence this is to ascertain if they are legal and could they have been part of the cause of an accident to hand to the insured party’s insurance coordinator.
Also a lot of people don’t realise a lot of cars are not written off for cost of repairs that just is part of it. It’s also hirer vehicles which is the main reason most vehicles get written off with currently got a shortage of approved insurance body shops so the wait to get a slot can cause more time in Hire which can therefore mean it’s more beneficial to write the car off than repair.
We would not consider the damage to the rear quarter structural but cosmetic hence it was been written off to a cat in although a lot of assessors would write that after a cat because it could be deemed as potential suspension damage which could cause structural due to the proximity of the wheel arch.

Those copart scumbags ripped me off big time, I purchased a 2014 BMW 435D CAT N described as minor cosmetic damage, but after waiting for a while to get the damage repaired we discovered the 6 cylinder was running slightly off. After a bit of investigation I discovered a bent rod. When I went back to copart and complained about undisclosed damage they said it was my tough luck and said I should have checked the car better before bidding (even though we are not allowed to personally inspect vehicles) To repair the engine properly has cost £2500 in parts only.

when using the glue it's best to first clean the panel with brake cleaner then heat the panel up slightly prior to applying the glue then allow to fully cool down. this way it will create a stronger bond. Also depending on the size of the dent you can apply several or even more pullers at the same time and move from one to another this will help pull the dent out evenly and will save time.

    • @identitycarcare477

There was definitely a huge improvement in the glue I ordered online but think I bit off way more than I could chew for a complete novice. I'd like to have another go but best I start with dinks in panels than caved in quarter panels 😂

As for Autotrader pricing, it’s my understanding that the price you get on the created advert does not take into account the category status. If you have a watch of Chops Garage on here, he says the same thing. So your profit may not be as large as you said 😬

It had light front-end damage to the bumper. Got a second-hand bumper and fitted it. Cleaned and polished it and sold it for £1800, made £800 profit. Second car was a 2011 fiat 500, turned up with more damage than i could see in the pictures. It had a bad oil leak from the crankshaft seal, ended up replacing it and putting a clutch in it too. Over spent massively and ended up giving it to my mum as she liked it. You win some, you lose some, can't win them all unfortunately 😂 as for the headlights, the Copart staff probably nicked them 😂

Relatively straightforward, I'm sure a basic account is free but if you want to bid on lots you have to upgrade which cost me £100 at the time.

Nah, that was after seven cars, and I averaged 7k per car. And when I told them I'm a customer who'd spent 50k total and this car was misadvertised, they didn't care. They charged me for parking i relieved that it was expensive car imagine if it was 20k or 30k car
