- A detailed walk through the entire Tropicana Hotel and Casino on their last
operating day, the will close on noon, Tuesday, April 2nd after almost exactly 67 years
in operation since April 4th, 1957.
Hey Bob, to funny, at the very beginning of your video my wife, buddy and I walked right by you in the beginning of your video outside on that path. I was the big bald guy in the black shirt and shorts! lol. We were there to film our RUclips Content.
Our Channel is called “ Mike and the Feather”.
We were there to film 🎥 a weigh in for our weight loss challenge that began today! ( April 1st).
Great video Bob! Love your videos!
i spotted myself in this video lol! so so upset to see it go but i’m grateful to have been here, especially on its last few days/closing day
Videobob, thank you for taking us on this very through tour of the Trropicana. This is a Vegas landmark and it should stay open with all of it"s history and the celeberties who have hung out there. Great vid!
Thank you, Bob, for this walk through of the iconic Hotel!
Good tour Bob - end of an era
It's a damn shame that they're demolishing the Tropicana. We can't keep tearing down historic properties! The Oakland A's are a terrible organization...nobody wants them in Las Vegas, and the way they abandoned the city of Oakland (and the San Francisco Bay Area) is disgraceful! This whole situation is really sad. Thanks for filming the day the Tropicana was open...excellent video, Sir!
Both cities are terrible. Homelessness, poverty and crime are up. The Bay Area, in my opinion, is bad right now. Mayor London Breed’s not doing enough to clean up the streets of ’Frisco.
As for the Athletics organization welfare is concerned, I guess they really didn’t have much of a choice. They were losing money. Besides, they’re not moving to Vegas right away. They’re heading next season to Sacramento until the new stadium is built on the now-former ground of the Tropicana.
We can’t live in the past of the old Las Vegas. That past wasn’t that great. It was Mafia-controlled.
Cheer up. The Bay Area still has the Giants, and they won the 2010, 2012 and 2014 World Series.
The Oakland Raiders moved to Las Vegas. Oakland Athletics deserves better in Las Vegas than staying in Oakland

Thank You! For walking through the last days of the Tropicana, Sad to see it close! 😢 one of the last Old Vegas hotel, I hate the saying ALL Good Things Come To A End. 😢😢 Good By Tropicana! DH & KH
I'm so very sorry to see this great place go away! I have so many memories of staying there ove the last 40 years with friends, family, my parents. And the 180 million dollar renovation turned out so nice! But just 13 years later its all getting destroyed! They certainly don't make them like this anymore, and structurally, that place is solid as a rock! Nobody does construction like this today. Thanks for making this last glimpse video , much appreciated.
Thank you for making this video, will miss Tropicana very much. ❤
Last time I stayed at the Tropicana was in 1985 when I won a trip to Vegas on a game show that included a room at the Tropicana. Looked totally different.
Wheel of Fortune? Or the Dating Game? 😂
The Price is Right?
That is a vegas legacy the last of the Wiseguy Era RIP Tropicana what a Run
Great vid Bob! Thanks for sharing a real walk and talk of this historic casino!
Thank you for this last walk through of the Tropicana
I met and worked with a lot of really nice people there 2011-2017
Wow 😢
We were there last Saturday and the back Tower by the Spa elevators on west side have glass windows. Check it out its an amazing view!! Great video Bob!😎👍
Much love bob thank you for the video man
I enjoyed the final tour very much. I have been here many times as well. Very good video 🙂👍👏👏
Thks for the 😢tour.. so much memories
Thanks so much, great video. Sorry I didn't get to see it myself before it goes
Sorry to see the Tropicana Hotel go! Built in 1953. I still love it. The big Tropicana red carpet welcomes you. Grew up watching it when you look at the sunset strip of Vegas in its heyday. Must be gone by now. This video was made just hrs before closing forever i take it? Days before demolition. Robert Irvine very popular. All resteraunts closed. Very classy hotel. What was the hotel that all the shows were performed? Frank Sinatra Wayne Newton held the longest show. Donny and Marie closed it down? Some hotels are older than Tropicana. I think this is not a town for baseball. Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world not a sports city. What will Oakland, CA have left. Baseball games make big money. So sorry
I stayed there that weekend and was out on the gaming floor all night with a couple friends I met that night and we stayed up and got coffee when they opened. We ended up being some of the last 5 or so civilians out the doors before the employees came out for the farewell. Very memorable experience
17:59 Wow 😮 Thanks for sharing Legendary Tropicana 🎉
Bob is the only reviewer that appreciates craftsmanship and quality. It shows he respects the work and skills. Ceasars amazes me I coul look at the craftsmanship for hours.
yet those ceiling tiles he was admiring were modern mass produced LOL
I remember when I went to Vegas in the late 90s all the old school mafia hotels were still up with their beautiful shimmering neon signs lighting up the strip, some years later I watched them demolish The Stardust. It was sad watching them destroy beautiful places like The Sands and The Stardust just to put up tacky corporate cookie cutter junk. I miss the look of the old strip
THANKS FOR THIS. I used to stay at the Stardust and that is gone too.
I got married 25 years ago here. My husband and i stayed here for memory its sad though i wont be able to show future family where we got married
❤😢❤😢❤😢❤ so sad
if you haven't shown them in 25 years chances are you never were going to! LOL There is plenty of video and photos on the internet for your memories!
How many times can we spot Bob moving signs and undoing the red do not cross ribbons. 😂 I love your personality Bob keep doing your thing.
I'm from the Liverpool, UK and just seen the news this was closing. Nor knowing ANYTHING about this old, historic building, I found your walk through fantastic with such sadness though. Why oh why would they want to knock something as magnificent as this down. Such memories, such decor! As you said, no one wants it or the team moving in. Hey, did you get to stay the last night with your wife in a jacuzzi room?😢😮😊. 500 bucks well worth the finally memory. Long may they live!!!
cause it's old and dated and the owner wanted to cash out, MLB and the city made him an offer only a fool would refuse would be my guess?
This breaks my heart. My husband and I got married there and wanted to go back for our 20th anniversary
They really let you roam around. I was there in January and never got to see the upstairs..thanks!
We got married here on 06/02/2012. I'm so sad to see it go!
I love all your videos showing Las Vegas I have never gone overseas for a holiday maybe for my retirement, years from now I would love to travel and go see America, so for me this is the next best thing. I believe history should be kept I understand progress has to be made in cities but for some of the older hotels and casinos on the Vegas strip they should of been kept to think how many hotels from the days of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley that have been lost.
Thank you for making this. I've never been to Vegas, nor have any desire to, BUT, I'm glad this video exists. Indeed, it will mean more as time goes on.
I'm treasuring the videos people are uploading of previous times to see what life was like before "progress" happened. We're losing a lot, not just buildings.
I like what you did at 12:09 😂
Brilliant!
I hope the residents of Las Vegas boycott every game of any kind that is played in this new stadium.
One of the last hotels left from the Maffiosso days
I always think that taking down famous beautiful places like this for profit is disgusting all they are thinking of is lining there pockets and not the people who use these facilities
I only hope the locals and others can get to buy some of the interior pieces as they may be destroyed but hopefully not
Fantastic you did the video before closing for posterity
I didn’t stay in it myself but back in December but had family friends stay. Walking around in it, can sense lot of history in it, good and bad. I know lot of patrons took cover in/at it during the ‘17 Route 91 mass shooting.
I’m glad they’re preserving the leaded glass ceiling, most beautiful casino on the strip.
it's not leaded glass but stained glass and it's been no report that it will be preserved/saved , there are artists who are now trying to save it. I hope it is saved if nothing more than panels auctioned off one by one!
It was a classy place, back in the day, loved that ceiling. Vegas doesn't have room for class anymore.
Hopefully there is a part two. Would like to see one of the nicer rooms as well as the beautiful view. Stayed at The Nugget when I visited and it was pretty average.
Booooooo they should not tear this down 💯
Why not don't you like baseball?
@@jerkusclownstarI’m a die hard A’s fan and SELL THE TEAM SELL THE TEAM
Why would they tear down the Tropicana. It's a Las Vegas staple for Pete's sake!
Money talks in Vegas.
Now who doesn't like a great game of baseball.
@@jerkusclownstar only if the Astros are playing. 🤘
@@jerkusclownstar - i dont. i watch zero sports including the superbowl
I worked there in the late 80s, been there so many times in my lifetime. I was there the day before they closed, got a video of the Tiffany glass ceiling. They should’ve left it alone. I have land in Sandy Valley they could’ve bought from me to put the stadium up. Lol!
Spend number of hours in there.....RIP old girl....
It's sad that they are closing the Tropicana Vegas doesn't need anymore sports teams they should of found another spot for the baseball team. Thanks for showing us the Tropicana before they closed it i wish i could of been there to see it one last time.
been going to vegas since the late 70’s and never set foot inside the tropicana only passed by it, i wish i could have visited it at least once.. one of the last vegas iconic hotels. ill see it this thursday and maybe take some last photos of it. so long tropicana!
It’s so sad. Always my go to hotel when I stayed in Vegas. I just don’t get it. Everybody loves that hotel. Reasonably priced and nice rooms. We always had an outside balcony too. Loved it.
This hotel is too old to stay
Oh no :( Another one of the greats is going down. I spent many great times at the Tropicana when I lived in Vegas.
Stupido. Got a Whole boulevard called Tropicana, intersecting of Las vegas blvd. Should Just save it or build a brand new one and make a mini museum for it like the Capone museum... Just Stupido to put a baseball park there.. St8 Bizzaro 😢
A big corporate conglomerate casino with way too much space in it. Would have loved to see the original version of it in 1957
Thanks for the walkthrough. Will you be in town for the demolition?
Great capture--I agree, why?? Not a sports fan, Vegas shouldn't morph into a sports town.
Thanks for the walk-through, Bob. I had hoped to get up there before the Trop closed but just too busy here in L.A. at the moment. That hotel opened the year I was born. Guess I should be thankful that I lasted longer than it did, right? They interviewed some hotel guy about the closure and he said that it's time to move on because people aren't gravitating to the older Vegas properties anymore, but I'm a firm believer that they could have freshened it up a bit and kept it running or, because of it's old-timey tropical feel, turned it into a Margaritaville Resort like they did with the legendary Riviera Hotel in Palm Springs. Plus, I would prefer new sports stadiums to be off-strip rather than right on the boulevard. Just sayin'.
I stayed there the last time i was in Vegas. 1985. 😊
The "team owner" you might get is terrible. 😢
i stayed there in 1989. it's so sad. who can be happy.i miss the sands hotel, when you could get a belgian waffle, in the middle of the night, for 1.99. lol

It's all about progress my friend.
Well, this just sucks! You would think after 67 years, in the days of the Mafia era, the Tropicana would still be standing, gracing the Strip in all its glory. Sadly, the old Las Vegas is fading away into oblivion.
I don’t know the obsession of erasing the past in Vegas very sad!
1950s hotels in Las Vegas Strip are no longer needed
The only place I won money last time I was in Vegas 😢 Awesome blazing 777 machines
I was supposed to stay for a work trip, 3 nights, in March 2020, but covid shutdowns came. I ended up booking 2 nights for a stay in November of 2021. Great rates. I stayed one night and 2nd night my friend got a free night in a suite at the newer Resorts World so we did that. The room wasn't bad at all. Didn't feel dirty to me or anything. I always liked the Trop as it's one of the few throw backs to the old days. I would say only reason I didn't go in more was the location at the far end of the strip. Just seems like I spend more time at the center now days. Was there superbowl weekend this year and made sure to stop by one last time.
I think the hotel should of stayed because it made the area of Las Vegas really nice and they don't need a baseball team at all because Oakland has a bad team
So sad. I’ve stayed at the Tropicana a few years ago. My players card will be my souvenir and memento ❤
The carpet would be cool to have for a inside pool !
It's been a long time since I've been there but I've always liked the Tropicana and It's a shame it's going away.
Ohhh nooo it’s really going 😮
I saw you yesterday Bob on valley view and Tropicana on you cop car.
I was Gypsy hunting!
Thank you for shooting the video. I live in Chicago but come to Las Vegas 2 to 3 times per year. I saw Brad Garrett when he was at the Tropicana maybe 10 years ago. I understand the history of this hotel. However, I found it one of the most unappealing hotels on the strip. I don't like the decor. I don't like the feel of the casino. It just seems so outdated. I know you say that no one in Las Vegas wants a baseball team. However, I believe long-term the city of Las Vegas will reap great benefits from having a baseball team.that's a lot of revenue coming from 81 regular season games. Time passes things change.
I'm not for the Oakland A's and this new stadium on another vegas land mark. As a local of 39 years this town has really changed alot from when ibwas a kid until now. Being said I know that the old have to be demolished for the newer buildings to be built but I'm not in any favor of a baseball field. I believe there is already one here in Downtown Summerlinn. They are going to make Las Vegas Nv, a sports town since we got the Raiders & Golden Knights. Also they're already talking about a - NBA Stadium as well. Not in favor for either of those. NBA nor Basball.
AWESOME video. I tried my hardest to get down there before they shut the doors but I was a Few hours too late. Also would be awesome to save the stained glass that spands the ceiling over the casino.
I stayed there and made the mistake of going from the MGM Grand to here and what a difference, but it wasn't that bad, clean and good service, too bad it's going to be gone
That entrance to the pool in the back was still open this morning. Pool itself was locked up though.
It has been dying for years. The iconic name was all that was left. But the corporate rip-off crowd that runs LV nowadays could care less. Witness the demise of the great 'Stardust' name.
The Tropicana Company sponsors Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL (home of the Rays), they should sponsor this new park and call it Tropicana Stadium just to keep the name alive!
Very sad i remember it being packed and full of birds and floor shows and tons of fun it is the last of real vegas
Again I just love this guys videos
Total backrooms vibe. It's sad another old Vegas landmark is getting demolished. I first visited Vegas in 07 and was able to see the Frontier sign. The hotel was demolished but the sign was still up.
Sad day for history and the employees of the Tropicana … but I am still excited for the new home baseball stadium of the Athletics
Dani 702 did a walk thru a few days ago. She said she stayed here with her parents.
We stayed there back in 2003 over the week of Valentines Day. Sad to see it go!! What's taking its place? A Sports Center????!!!
sorta, a MLB park for the "Oakland" Athletics "A's"
And nobody asked for this implosion! 🫥
Maybe they just see a sports team bringing in more money than that hotel since Vegas has so many options you got like 250,000 rooms on the strip
I could only imagine that the signage and artifacts going on a liquidation sale of some kind. Damn A’s aren’t even a good enough team let alone take the place of a Historical establishment that I never seen in person. Will the building be gone already by your 50th Birthday Bash?
I stayed there on 07-07-07
You know just how big those casinos in Vegas are when a baseball stadium is going to replace one.
Don't start counting your chickens before they hatch.
I have no problem with Las Vegas becoming a Sportstown, however, putting the baseball field right smack in the center of the strip is stupid. There’s more than enough vacant land in or around that area that would not cost more traffic jams and necessary on the strip in way more people than be on the strip, yes the Tropicana is rundown. It is old and could use a major revenant renovation, but I’m putting a baseball stadium that caliber in the center of the strip is stupid. That is one of the dumbest things. The city of Las Vegas has ever done.
The Trop is not in the City of Las Vegas, it's in Clark County, Paradise Area.
@@user-bb3yv8dy7q
And
So now they gonna have a street called Tropicana or are they gonna change that too??
The baseball stadium at the Tropicana is closer to other stadiums

The A's should have gone back to Philadelphia where they started rather than Vegas. Sad to see this piece of history go the way of the Flamingo.
There can't be two teams in Philadelphia, UNLESS one team is moved and that is unlikely to happen. Las Vegas is thriving and it's all about money which is WRONG on ALL LEVELS.

I hope they auction off the casino. I may not have been to the Tropicana more than once (back in June 2022), but I would love to try to get a game table from there, I have two decks of cards with the Tropicana name on them. I don't understand why these buildings aren't protected like some houses from the same era of build. Tropicana was built in 1957! They're landmarks full of history and have a lot more style and mojo than modern buildings. Once they're gone, they're gone. Bit sad innit.
very little of the original 1957 structure exists

Its going to happen that everything is just so dated, you can have a room in your house that's a casino all vintage slots built in the 2000. You never need to leave your home. Your Home will have it all. Buy a House now because their not going to drop. People working from home is a game changer!
would have made a pretty apartments .
The thing is, the people that live in vegas don't bring money to Vegas. The people that visit Vegas brings the money and that is what this stadium will do.
