    Moisture sensors like the one shown will corrode away to nothing in a few months in moist soil. The fully insulated capacitive sensors cost a dollar more but they last.

    Nice video! And a cool idea. I have a 4x 5V relay and you have encouraged me to do this 4 times over for a few potted indoor plants. Thank you for the content!

    is it possible to just use the "low trigger" types of relay module instead of the "high trigger"???

  • @adamwalter2573
    @adamwalter2573 2 года назад +1

    This will work unless the end of the tube (in the pot) is below the surface of the water == water will tend to balance its height/level in both pots.

    Thank you so much door the video.. Just bought it so yet wasn't sure how to put it all together.. The last step wasn't completely clear to me.. When.using the power bank all I have is one red that is.not yet wires, and one black the isn't wired.. Is it only one positive and one negative wires that goes to the power bank.? Do you happen to have drawing of it all.?

    If you could figure out a way to auto PH balance the water too that would be sweet.

    I'm new to electronics. I reproduced your exact setup but it's not working. I did a bit of debugging and the pump works well if I connect the usb directly to it. After a while, I realized my relay is 12v. Would that explain why nothing happens when I put everything together and plug it in ? Ah and also, thx for this video, I really like it.

    Has any done this with a capacitive sensor. All the ones I see you have to use Arduino with the capacitive sensor but this setup is much simpler and I want to use the capacitive sensor. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the video but the sensor just corrodes as it is DC so will not last long please look at Capacitive sensors

    Hey ductape mechanic,
    I have a question, i made one but mine is werking the other way around. So of the meter is in contact with water, it starts the pump. Do you have any ideas in why this is happening?

    • @DuctTapeMechanic
      @DuctTapeMechanic  3 года назад +1

      Hey! Yes take a look out how the pump is wired into the relay. Is it in the NO or NC position? Also check to see if the relay jumper is set to be triggered at a high signal.

    Hi! I have a question. Why does my pump keep on watering even though my sensor detects the water.
    Also can you please give a blueprint on this.
    P. S.Thank you for the great content!

      Thank you for watching. Is it possible you have ur relay set for "low trigger". Make sure the relay jumper is set to "high trigger". I would check that first. Then make sure u are getting power to the sensor PCB (I believe an LED should be lit). Hope this helps.

    i'm a complete electronic noob, so a larger relay to power a larger pump?

    • @DuctTapeMechanic
      @DuctTapeMechanic  Год назад +1

      If you have a larger pump that draws more current then the specifications of this relay (I believe they can handle up to 10 amps) then you would need a larger relay (maybe even a contactor if you are dealing with loads greater then 30 amps or so)
