The opening sequence says it all......the crowd pleasing BURNOUT!!!!!......f..king modern day primadonnas and their crew chiefs including NHRA could take a lesson from this era.... exactly why I haven't watched a NHRA event in over 20 yrs
Years ago, a friend of mine told me about a Funny car that was in some warehouse like Garage in southern Iowa, So I went down to see this car and yep it was a Funny Car. Its a 69 Camaro with a 427 and a 671 no carbs, I looked all over to see if there was some kind of I.D. tag on it but nothing. The Car was called Top Cat. We did find out who owned this, and they did not know much about it, Other than their father got it sometime in the first part of the 80s. I asked if it was for sale and the family said yes. Well, I gave them the cash and I got this Funny Car. I now have about 6 years in to the rebuild of this hot rod I only hope that I will have it done by late spring of 2022. It is Amazing how they built this kind of car..
Way before cars became aerodynamic spaceships. And the time when we could actually root for Chevy vs Dodge vs Ford and dream that our daily drivers could be one of these cars.
Sad that many of these guys either died broke or, Like Tom McEwen, worked up till their last days. And please no B.S. platitudes about "he died doing what he loved.."
Hello, can anyone tell me what happened to the flying Dutchman charger 3 funny car and why r/e funny cars did not get the same amount of time for develop ment, as it would be safer for the driver in case of explosion after all, wheelstanders still exist!!!

The 'Shaker' at 1.47 is a 1968 or '69 Holden (Australian GM) Monaro and is absolutely iconic in Australia. It was recently restored.
It's cool seeing different engines in these , unlike the cookie cutter ssdd it has become .
Cha Cha grew up in this area, she didn't lose many if any street races..
I dig a the Cougar FCs!
