Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday came down heavily on the Congress for politicising Manipur violence issue. The Opposition has also accused PM Modi of being insensitive and lack of empathy towards the burning issue of Manipur.
In the latest development in violence trapped Manipur, fresh clashes broke out between the armed men in two communities in last week of June. Earlier on June 7, violence erupted in largely peaceful Jiribam after the lifeless body of Soibam Saratkumar Singh (59) was recovered. He was suspected to have been killed by the militants, officials said. Agitated by this, locals set a few abandoned structures on fire which was followed by the imposition of curfew in the area.
Notably, the ethnic violence started in Manipur in May last year. Since then, more than 200 people have lost their lives and thousands have been rendered homeless between Imphal Valley-based Meiteis and hills-based Kukis.

I read an article by a CRPF Officer in Indian Express last month that this Manipur issue was prevailing in 1980s. Why is the Opposition blaming BJP government for the same, beats me.!!!!
Didn’t know violence was this severe in 1980s? Even then shouldn’t a govt in power since 10 years stop it? Should Manipur burn bcz it’s like ever since? True ! opposition trying to make it political issue. Why they just be human's asking for justice? And why is there biasness? Opposition is being silent on sandheshkhali, and if any incident happens in government of bjp they make a deal out of it which is good we should address issues but why don't they utter any word when it's their government? They play the blame game, that's why their is delay in justice. It's also fault of us as citizens because we are being violent and practising hatred while there is no need! We put blame on government, isn't any of it our responsibility?
