    Please never be ashamed of any "mess". You're doing fantastic and who cares about any mess? The kids seem happy, that's all that matters.

    One thing that helps to keep the girls' heads become more rounded and less misshapen is to make sure you switch them back and forth on their sides often throughout the day! One time put them on their left side with something behind their head and body so they can't move onto their other side or onto their back. Then alternate the next time. You'll need to keep their entire body facing the same direction every time you switch them when you lie them down. Don't allow them to sleep on their backs with their heads turned. Keep them on their sides so the entire body is facing one direction and not just their heads. I had two preemies and after doing this for a few months they never had to wear helmets!

      I always flipped each side to tell which boob i breastfed with. I didn't purposely put him on his back being babies are on their back so much.

    Hi grad family. I took care of a baby that needed a helmet. They wore it for 23 hours a day. For eight months. It’s a good thing to do for their future. It’s not as bad as it sounds. Emily was so young I don’t think it bothered her at all. I wish I could be with those little ones to help you. I would love it

    My sister had twins at 30 weeks, plus a 2-yr-old. As her younger sister, I helped her a ton. It really is a lot of work. Thanks for letting us see the "realness"! You guys are probably twice as busy, though! Just know this phase will pass! You will get through. I love how you still take time to make sure Sammy and Mia get some of your live and attention. Great Job!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

    Don't worry too much about pleasing anyone :) Mess happens, takeaway happens, crying happens, beautiful families happen when love is present. You guys are doing so well, It is amazing how well you guys are doing. it will gt easier the older the babies and toddlers get respectively. Also, I had a friend who had premie twins meant to mention one of them needed a helmet and by a year her head was perfect and hers was much more noticeable than your girls.

    You need to get some sort of bassinet for downstairs. Take everyone down in the am. Stay till nap time then come back down after naps and stay till bed time so those kids aren't stuck in one room all day

    • @cathl2020
      @cathl2020 5 лет назад

      Yeah it must be hard for the older kids being in that room all day and the babies need something different to look at to keep them stimulated . They should watch RUclips channel "Five two love" the have got quints and make it work.

    • @rrg69able

    I just have to say, and maybe you're not showing us the break downs - but you guys seem so calm and collected - which, in my opinion, is imperative in order to have happy babies. Their sixth senses pick up on your moods so the better your mood, the better theirs. That's just my opinion for the record. Anyway - again just so happy for you all - all 5 children are beyond adorable and I can't wait to see this trio all decked out a year from now. Love watching your videos and wish you continued strength and happiness and health. ♥

    They kept babies on their bellies in our NICU. Laying in the dock-a-tot is a common cause of flat head syndrome. We had our twins do tons on tummy time and rotated their heads when they were on their backs. My boy still ended up having a flat spot but it wasn't severe enough for a helmet and ended up resolving itself.

    Alternating which side they face while feeding will help eliminate them favouring sides too. My first daughter developed problems in her torticolis muscle in her neck because she always favoured her right side and she ended up with a flat spot on the side of her head and a stiff neck muscle which required a few months of Physiotherapy.
    I can't imagine how hard it is keeping up for you guys! But you are doing a awesome job at it that's for sure!!

    Talk to your pediatrician, if they need helmets, then decorate them. Screw what everyone says. If they need them then you get them. Whatever is best. I wore one as an infant, it's no biggie. Considering how early they were and everything they have already overcome, helmets are nothing to worry about. I say get them. Can't hurt.

    Helmets are inconvenient but not a huge deal. Lots of scarier things can happen to babues, especially preemies. Back in the day I was born with clubfeet. Now babies wear casts for a few months but in the 49's-50's, it was corrective shoes for years.

    The reason
    Preemies have the misshapen heads are because in the NICU the nurses don't rotate sides of the baby heads. Meaning, it's simple, they have to have them sleep one way, then the other. My preemie was my 8th baby. I tried asking them to make sure to rotate my baby but we had bad nurses and a bad time in the NICU. It's easy for them. After every feeding they turn the babies but they didn't. It's not your fault as the NICU has them at the crucial time for their heads. It's pretty bad that the NICU nurses can't do such a simple thing. So don't blame yourselves. They told us our son needed a helmet. It was quite traumatic getting fitted and wearing it. In our son's case his head kept dropping with the helmet than he couldn't breath. So I didn't let him wear it. I learned with kids if it's not life or death don't worry about it. With girls, they grow hair and it's covered. You can't tell with my son, he's 14 now. You are doing a fantastic job.. much love...
