Learn how to create and work with broken out section drawing views in SOLIDWORKS. Quick Tips video presented by Michael Binford of GoEngineer (www.goengineer.com).
How far from the center is the plane you sketched on? This is really important. Reference depth could be simple you just pick where you want to cut , but when you give depth you should know where your plane is. Thank you for your explanation.
Not helpful at all. I draw the spline loop on the drawing view and hit the "Broken-out Section" button on the toolbar, and only the "pencil" for drawing a spline appears. The "Broken-out Section" dialog box never appears as it does in your video. That's the problem with most of these Solidworks tutorials - there are no fallbacks. We are screwed if it doesn't work exactly like the video. I have SW 2013.
I really have the feeling Saul Goodman is explaining this to me. Couldn't be more clear. Thanks!
Very straight forward. I didn't know Bob Odenkirk did Solidworks videos, thanks!
Brilliant explanation. Thank you for your help!
Thank you so much! It helped a lot because I needed to see the view to an edge :)

This is really good explaining.
Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
thank you, you don't know how tiring is to search for something, of which you are 100% sure that exists, but no one can tell you where to look for it.
thanx man
im using a solidworks in 2020 version, and still works the same way
A video on walkthrough animation in SOLIDWORKS is currently on youtube. Sir , if you are planning to post a tutorial please consider the above topic.
Ok, cool. Now show me how to show the cutting plane line required for this section view.

Is it possible to use a plane to define the section depth?
Presently the program does not let you select planes to use as the depth reference in a Broken Out Section View.
