- Steve House and Alan Rousseau: reflections on light & fast Alpinism, from their experiences on the Slovak Direct (Denali) one of the most legendary routes in the Alaska range.
In the summer of 2000, Steve House, Mark Twight and Scott Backes made a stunning 60-hour single push ascent of the route and it was only this year that the route was climbed again in a single push style, by Alan Rousseau, Jackson Marvell and Matt Cornell in 21 hours and 35 minutes.
In this double interview they explain the deeper purpose that animated them and their vision about mountaineering. What is the light and fast style?
Subtitles in English, Italian and French.

I am happy that our Slovac direct start to be a so popular vay. Blažej Adam.
"Beyond the Mountain" and "Kiss or Kill" are some of the best climbing books I've ever read. If you liked this story you should read them.
Agreed, this story was a real standout in Beyond the Mountain. Glad to hear some of it retold here.
I've read both of those books. Great recommendations
I’d add Enduring Patagonia to the list, another amazing piece of climbing literature
What extraordinary people. Thank you for sharing this with us
Steve House is the man, true wisdom in his words.
Congratulations to Alan, Matt, and Jackson, this is truly an amazing feat!
Music = annoying - video is great otherwise
Such amazing ascents by both groups of climbers! Huge congrats to Alan, Jackson, and Matt!
love the music , Grazie Grivel for giving us this!!
Background music made this almost unwatchable. His words were lost throughout.
background music is incredibly annoying
Yeah, like a start screen from an old school Wrestling video game 😂👎🏼
Apart from that, it's great content 👌🏼
Absolutely.
That’s because they recruit people to make videos that have no idea of language and directing
excalty !!! such a shame to put music to an awesome video
So jarringly incongruent with the spirit of the whole story. Either spend some money or skip the soundtrack
Menuda experiencia de vida. Que importantes son las ultimas palabras. Lo importante es ir.......
Hi man, nice day in the mountains, but you did not tell us if you climbed the route in technical style or free? There were two Slovak climbers after you who climbed the whole route free and in single push.
Don't forget houseman and bullock
Make way for the new generation!
Why screw up an otherwise terrific video with annoying music?
I couldn't make it more than 4 minutes into this video due to the terrible music throughout. What a shame, because what I did watch was fascinating and enlightening. Please remove the music. I would love to listen to the rest of what Alan and Steve have to say.
No photography would be even more minimalist.
Can't wait to go out to Alaska and try some of these routes but hearing Steve say that the crux was that hard is seriously intimidating.
Love listening to his reflections but why the damn hypo music overlay - ruins the entire video :( whoever posted this should re-post without the stupid music drowning out his words - so many people have made the same comment so please get off your backside and fix - this is also a message to all those other lunatics that think putting "dramatic" music on a video does anything to enhance what is already a dramatic story.
