GENERATE SPIN - How table tennis rubber imparts spin

Slow motion study on how spin is inverted and amplified on contact with smooth table tennis rubber (called "inverted" for other reasons). The first two clips show an underspin ball hitting a racket and picking up more reversed spin than it had coming in.
The last two clips sho clearly how the ball deflects the top sheet and picks up spin from the top sheet snapping back.
A common misconception is that most of the spin that is put on a table tennis ball comes from the hand speed. While hand speed of course contributes spin, it gets massively amplified by the snap-back of the top sheet after contact.
