Student Profile: Milagros Sanchez-Gaton ‘16

Milagros Sanchez-Gaton, Class of 2016, overcame more obstacles in a short period of time than most will face in a lifetime on route to her college degree. Pregnant with twins at a young age, she was asked to leave her home and move in with the father of her children…a relationship that turned physically and mentally abusive. Milagros was told that she “couldn’t go to school” and better herself.
Looking at an uncertain future for her and her daughters, she made a decision: she left. She started at Bristol Community College and earned her GED. Then she enrolled as a full-time student at BCC, earned her Associate’s Degree, and was named the College’s “29 Who Shine” for 2016. Now, the future is wide open for this truly inspirational star.
