I'm long over due for a video, but hopefully this will show off why I haven't been posting. Tons of time and effort went into this room. I figured that if i wasn't going to be posting my regular videos, i should atleast make a good one documenting why. This video shows the process of my new snake room build and the move itself. Hope you all enjoy.

Hey Jason👋🏼 just wanted to tell you how truly sorry I am for your loss...that must have been devastating for you. Im BRAND NEW to owning a snake & I discovered your channel while trying to educate myself. Its a little intimidating coming into the snake world and of course I did all the wrong things (bought at a chain pet store, didn't have the right equipment) and I only realized these mistakes after I brought my snake home...but I've been correcting those errors & learning. I really appreciate your delivery and style (even though I know your target market isn't beginner owners at all) but your delivery is really approachable and you have taught me SO much in a short amount of time. I truly hope one day I am in the position to have one of your snakes in my home. You clearly sincerely love&care for the parents and babies and that's just really cool. I know its a business but you really love them first as individuals and not just "stock" and that 100% makes me want to save up and do business with you. Thanks again and hopefully see you down the road :)

Jason I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Shit happens that you can't always account for, especially in a place you just moved into. This mistake doesn't discount all the love and hard work you put in to making your new room perfect for all your babies! Its obvious how much you care for your animals and I'm glad i bought my own baby from you. The place looks awesome and i hope you are able to enjoy it to the fullest even after all the heartbreak involved.

@@JasonsExoticReptiles I have accidentally killed/lost/learned the sad way, many, many times. And when I say lost, I mean physically, like, wtf, how did it weasel its way out of THAT small of a space!? kind of lost... I think the more we share our successes, failures & our husbandry ideas, the more we can evolve ourselves & educate, prepare & inspire others.
You've done a really good job with your basement/snake room! Sorry for your loss man. Dont blame yourself too much, move on and learn from your mistakes 💪

It's easy for hobbyist keepers like me to take for granted how emotionally tied to your animals larger keepers/breeders are, and it's hurts just as much for you if not more losing a single animal. There are no words, you have done everything humanly possible to give your beloved animals the best husbandry. I am so happy you had your wife to help you through this taxing time on you. I am so sorry...just heart breaking. And after working so hard and being exhausted... I think I would have totally broken down. No one’s perfect and we all make mistakes. Thank goodness most of the time nothing bad happens. Thinking of you and your wife.

So sorry for your loss man. Growing pains. When it comes done to it, it never is about the money. Its things like what happened that reminds us. This literally just happened to me. Purchased a new home with an unfinished basement to turn into my reptile room. I placed my animals in a room in the house while construction was going on. Had a heater failure and lost 4 out of 12 snakes. I feel like I’ll never be the same. And it definitely taints the experience of finally revealing my reptile room to family and friends. 😭😭

So so Sorry to hear about the situation man, you did everything anyone would’ve, moving is exhausting especially with big snake rooms etc. sleep is key.You do amazing work, and raise amazing animals, I’m sorry for the loss of some but, don’t beat yourself up too hard! Hell of a job jason. I can only imagine the amount of work and stress that you went through. The floor came out great. When I built my garage a couple of years ago I used the same stuff to epoxy the floor. I live 10 minutes from you. Berlin is a great town. Some of my best friends grew up there. Welcome to the area. If you think about it, each animal that gave its life essentially saved the others in its proximity by absorbing the brunt of the heat spike. Very sad but still so very fortunate that the rest survived. ❤ may they have all the cheese bois and humid holes in the afterlife.

A move like that is hard to appreciate if you haven't experienced it yourself. All of the little things involved make it an insane experience. We moved from RI to NC in June, then to South Korea this past September. We had a couple dozen snakes, equipment, etc, so nothing like what was on your plate. That's a taxing move on so many levels. Truly sorry to hear about your loss, yet happy for you and your family with the new setup. Thank you for sharing the journey.

@@JasonsExoticReptiles the crazier part will be when we go back to the states in a few years. International moves with two kids, even more snakes by then, FB and ARS racks = not fun. I may stay here longer just to avoid moving! 😉
I know this is 2 years later but I am currently building a reptile room too and using same foam board insulation.
The foam board requires a thermal barrier as per code.
If a fire should start that room will go up in flames like it had gas poured on walls.
You need to add furring stripes and 1/2 drywall or something labeled as an acceptable thermal barrier
I’m pretty sure that’s only if you plan to put drywall over the top of the insulation. These are essentially free floating boards so technically they have nothing to catch fire. No drywall over the top of them.
No, the drywall or wood panels needs to cover the foam board as a thermal barrier.
If a fire ever started from faulty heat pad/ lights in that room, the code is for a flame barrier to last 15-20 mins before it burns through drywall to the foam board. Once foam board on fire fire spreads so rapidly in seconds your house cannot be saved .
15-20 min window buys you time for firefighters to get there . That’s why it’s listed in building code.
There can be no exposed foam board and or spray foam

First of amazing new facility, you did a great job planning everything out. I'm really sorry that you lost some of your animals, I know how hard that is for sure I had a really bad thermostat malfunction and that shit is terrible. That being said think about it this way, eve though you lost those animals this video is going to help so many of us who have large collections figure out how to plan a big move and what to do and what not to do. It's not your fault that the movers didn't understand how important it was to work as fast as possible I think the next time I have to move I'll hire some of my fellow keepers to help me move, they'll know how important it is to move the animals as fast as possible so thank you for sharing your experience. You are going to do some amazing things in that new space, keep up the great work!

This is my third year of breeding boas in the uk. I have bred a het sharp female 4 years old. To a a visual Male.
For the first time. In the past my pregnant females stop eating. But this het female is still eating . Is this a sign she is not pregnant ?? Thanks Dave.

I’m sorry to hear that Jason I didn’t know that happened to you man I feel your pain losing one is the worst I was genuinely heartbroken and you lost multiple but I’m so glad you made this video this is a learning experience for everyone and you were so cautious and careful hopefully everyone will be as careful as when moving I genuinely feel like u did your absolute best I don’t think anyone would have done anything different honestly but thanks again for this learning experience
