Thanks for the tip about not losing the burst valve (metal disc). It made me realize I did lose mine, and I looked around and found it. If I hadn't seen that, I would have filled the tank and lost all the gas. Also, for those like me who prefer metric, the bottles take 410g of dry ice.

I use a lot of club soda and have tried several methods of making my own CO2. I tried the adapter with paint ball canisters. I also use the dry ice method. The problem is pounding the dry ice into small enough particles to get into the canister. Then I bought the Zenchef ice shaver. All you have to do is hit the dry ice a few times to get into chunks and it pulverizes it in a matter of seconds. I did three canisters in about 30 minutes.

I would not use a pipe wrench on the tank as it can damage the wall of the high-pressure tank, invalidating the pressure test. It's better to use a strap wrench - available at hardware stores.

I purchased 3 kg of dry ice $18 and filled 4 cylinders, I put my dry ice in my Vitamix machine and it broke up like snow then dumped it into mixing bowl I wore rubber glove on one hand and put it in with a tea spoon, time consuming but it worked and I saved $60

Why not keep the pressure release valve always on but loose? What's the point in removing it completely and then risking losing parts? On the way back, first tighten the main valve and afterwards the small release valve.

Removing the valve guarantees that the cylinder is depressurized. As for the other direction, having it in partially and then putting in the main valve is probably the better alternative and what I generally do now.

Just press the valve at the top to depressurize. I don't mess with the safety valve, and it may be smart to cycle through soda stream every 10 refills.

I get the reason why, but for me time is also money and this seems like a huge time consuming issue task and at the end of the day I would just spend the the 15 dollars and get a replacement, but that is just me.
I went with the bigger tank
But thanks for your video you showed me how to properly take the top off to use as my new adaptor

Great video and idea. Is the dry ice most places sell safe to use for beverage carbonation? How do you ensure it is beverage grade co2 you are getting? If its not Beverage grade and there are more traces on Benzene you have yourself a carcinogen filler on your hands I think.

Dry ice sold in grocery stores should always be food grade. So I don't think there is a problem getting it there.

Unnecessary step to *remove* the overpressure valve. Simply loosening it satisfies the need.

Hey, if you do take that value out .... What's the right way to put the metal disc back in....he failed to mention that there is a certain way it needs to be put back! And unfortunately for me....I don't remember either! Lol

Does this work with the newer quickconnect bottles?

This is only worthwhile If you have a convenient source of Dry Ice The video is precise but using a scale is not worth the expense or effort. i use two coffee cups of Dry Ice. I use a vise to hold the valve and a strap wrench to loosen the cylinder.

I carbonate craft beer with dry ice. I use 6.2g of dry ice for each liter of beer. I use PET bottles for packaging.
I'm thinking about setting up a beer extraction system using the soda cylinder and dry ice, but honestly I'm afraid. Could it be that over time, the low temperature cannot compromise the cylinder’s resistance? Is this amount of 410g of dry ice safe? How much pressure (PSI) does this 410g of dry ice produce?

Not everyone has ready access to a place to refill CO2 tanks or even a place to store it. This is an alternate option.
