THIS - probably not (unfortunately). Could get a Top 10 though if the juries love it (see Portugal 2024). It's not appealing to the younger public. Other Irish songs from that period - maybe, folksy sound is more popular now than some years ago.
Like the sound of birds and angels. Peaceful and exciting. Original. And the lyrics are very meaningful. I can listen to it over and over without getting tired of it. Congratulations. Greetings from turkey.
I love the way the technological limitations of camera technology at the time syned with the rhythm of the song, nowadays shed have to have a firework coming out her arse midway to allow for some steadicam camera sequences, which of course speaks volumes about the eurovision in the modern era.
Ireland don't want to win that's the problem they wanted to host first time second time but then it's too much money and bother for them, let's be honest we know if Ireland enter a celtic singers with traditional Irish music Riverdance ect it's gunna win there's a reason they dont we know we could win it if we truly wanted too it's not that the entires are not talented it's just Ireland choose not to enter someone they know will win beyond reasonable doubt they won 3 times in a row and it cost them a hell of a lot of money they then changed it up a little lost one year win the next I think they enter to keep good relations with EU countries and be good sports as we'd call it but theve no real desire to win winning 3 times in a row cost them millions
I am Irish with Swedish citizenship also but thought Eimear was amazing. However, by a hairs whisker I loved Sweden's song. Sweden and Ireland should have been joint winners. I know its impossible. I feel more Irish than Swedish but Sweden's song is one of my all time favourites.
Both Ireland and Sweden had truly AMAZING songs in 1996. But for me Norway was even better. Just slightly, but better. All 3 of them would be deserving winners of 1997 and many other years. Ireland with this absolutely majestic entry is definitely amongst the best winners of all time.
This is a real woman. A beautiful, natural woman. Which is how it should be, without any extra costumes and unnecessary makeup. She has an amazing voice. A voice that takes your breath away. A clear, gentle, elegant voice. It was this song that was chosen as the soundtrack to the movie "The Lord of the Rings". Although not the main soundtrack. This is how I want to see Eurovision. Exactly as it was intended to be. And not this shame, which has been jumping around the stage lately.
Bambi Thug did us Irish proud what are you on about? I use to agree, I prefer these ballads to what’s popular now. But Ireland for many years continued to send generic songs despite knowing that the times have changed. Bambi showed that Ireland can do well with genres outside Ballads. I get if you dislike the current genre, but there’s no denying that the Doomsday Blue performance was well done, perceived well, and did well by placing us 6th!
If only Ireland sent something good again! Wild Youth's song reminds me of Nicky Byrne's Sunlight from 2016...very average and forgettable and the message is generic. You would have had a chance to qualify with Connolly but alas she was not chosen.
1)Wild Dances, Ukrain. 2)Euphoria, Sweden 3)Every Way That I Can,Turkey. 4)Fairytale, Norway 5)Arcade,Netherlands 6)Always, Azerbaijan. 7)Number One, Greece 8)We Could Be The Same, Turkey 9)Shake it, Greece 10)Satellite, Germany Winners of all time... P.s I'm sure I miss a lot of good songs but I think these are by far the most iconic songs of Eurovision history.
I am baffled by that year's postcards. It would have been nice to have an artist, maybe a former ESC winner or participant wishing each entry good luck, but why the heck a politician?
@@pajolee6918 Thanks for your feedback, Pajo! 🙂 Well, quite similar, especially the stanza. I haven't heard that song before! ✌ However, I wouldn't see it as plagiarism, but rather treating this song as huge 'inspiration'.😉✌
Have you listened to the lyrics, though? I mean, this song does exactly what some of Ukrainian entries do, and lots of people whine about it being "political".
It's pretty good and she can sing better than Gina G but everyone knows Gina G absolutely should have still won if not for the political side of Eurovision.
A bit breathy from her side. Didnt know this was a Eurovision song. Just knew the version from the lovely ladies with the violins who seem to have real vocal education/training in the classical field (celtic woman they are called). Great song. But she didnt hit all the notes. So props to the band that covered it to make it really stand out and shine!
I also first hear the song from Celtic woman.t's an amazing version indeed. There is a new 2020 live version in which ,I believe,Eimie had performed "The voice" much better than here 💖💖💖💖💖
I want Ireland to send a song like this again
Yes me too! Something like Celtic women!
But they didn't do that, :)
@@6ilan9_Fadlurrahman kind of, if you count JESC 2019 for Ireland but that was royally robbed
but with the lyrics in irish instead of english
@@6ilan9_Fadlurrahman they can't be arsed let's be honest winning the Eurovision is a pain in the backside lol

My favorite winning song in the history of Eurovision.
This is magical, what a voice and a well deserved winner. Irish music is heavenly. It's time they send a masterpiece like this again.
Pinnacle of the Eurovision.
This would be top 5 in todays Eurovision for sure.
No chance unfortunately
The Eurovision is a joke now 😢

The best winner Eurovision will ever have. She's THE winner, this song is the most incredible masterpiece that landed in this contest.
Nah - Rock'n'Roll Kids - far better.
This fake, airy-fairy 'celtic' music is terrible... Nothing Irish about it.
It's OK I guess
I completely agree!
Do not forget about Nocturne from Secret Garden

My favourite Eurovision Song of all Time 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
If Ireland sends someone like this next year, maybe they'll finally qualify for finals
Well... they didn't 😕
But we qualified!
@@Ash-od1ps yes! And with a great song
Beautiful song!!! 🇮🇪
Greetings from Greece
Arguably the greatest Eurovision song with more than 24 words of all time. ❤️
hehe I see what you did there ;)
Nocturne was an even greater masterpiece but had less than 24 words.
Ireland's best winner. Absolutely magnificent.
Ireland, you did it once, you can do it again (sending beautiful emotional song)
One of best songs to win Eurovision ever! I was so in love with Eimar Quinn😂😊
I m from Greece and I love this song!!

This is amazing. I love the Irish music nearer the end. Ireland should send more songs like this.

I just love this one.
