    I've heard this objection many, many times by protestants. Silly, but kind of sad. I guess they never called their own dad "father" then.

      For me, it’s the reductionist attitude of it all. For example: they take this passage literally but not the Eucharist at the Last Supper. How can a person say that the bible is God’s Holy Word but not believe when He says to eat of His flesh and drink of His blood? (That’s rhetorical, in case someone decides to argue with a moot point.)

    Morning greetings from Sydney, Father Mike. I loved your homily and in relation to one of your comments, l just read today’s Liturgy, Monday of the 31st week of Ordinary time given by the Jesuit Priests in Ireland through their website (sacred space) which says : we must never forget God’s two great attributes: “His transcendence and His Immamence”.

    What about the song protestant sing as children father Abraham has many sons, many sons has father Abraham and I am one of them and so are you. How they twist things. It is their pride that gets in the way of truth.

      With all due respect , the use of the noun father in that jolly little Sunday School song referred to God’s sacred promise to Abraham that his descendants would populate the whole world. From the onset the Covenant was not solely for Abraham and his offspring, but for the benefit of the entire world. Remember God’s promise, “ Count the stars if you are able. “. God commands. As countless as the stars, he assures Abram, so shall your descendants be” Genesis 15:5
      Protestants sing the Father Abraham song in joy and gratitude because of God’s promise. God included you and he included me as part of the family . We serve a God of love without measurability.

    this is good teaching but like so many catholic preachers, the Father rarely cited chapter and verse for his truthful argument as to why we call our priests fathers. Also, what a silent crowd, even when he was asking for response the people sat stock still. We Catholics need to get on fire for our faith and this riest is trying to stir it up but we need to know the bible as he said (its our book in a particular way) but that means familiarity with the chapters . As a Mississippian I can tell you orotestants will always know from whence they quote-even when they get it wrong. We need to know the culture as he said. Still, great preaching !

    I love you PAPA GOD!!! Save my soul! amen. The protestants also never receive "their DAILY BREAD". because only in Jesus' Catholic Church can you receive the Holy Eucharist, which Jesus called "THE DAILY BREAD' in the prayer HE taught us to pray. Thank YOU, lord JESUS: our King and our God.

    Ephesians 2:8-9 "for by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves it is a GIFT of God. Not of works lest anyman should boast." Salvation is by grace through faith alone, you cannot add anything or you are not under grace. The Greek translation for the word grace is CHARIS meaning "unMERITTED favor." Simply believe the gospel to be saved and be saved permanently. "After you BELIEVED, you were sealed with the holy spirit of promise who is the GUARANTEE of our inherentance until the redemption of the purchased possession."
    Romans 11:7 "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."

    2nd Timothy 3: 15 - 16 ... from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

    • @RonMexico7
      @RonMexico7 7 месяцев назад

      Catholics would agree with this. It doesn’t Scripture is the ONLY thing for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. It is another way to do those things. For example, 2 Thessalonians 2:15 says, “So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.” Notice by word of mouth OR by letter. This is why Catholics would agree. Scripture is great for correcting. God bless.

    • @duhdims
      @duhdims 4 месяца назад

      "From your infancy"
      Paul is referencing the OT scriptures, that speaks of the Savior, since the NT canon had not yet been defined. Also, as mentioned, it doesn't say "only" scripture and Paul had no idea his letters would eventually be included in the NT canon
