I an sooooooo glad that Yes & Jon Anderson is being heard and experienced by your generation!!! It bring me Joy knowing that you and others are experiencing Yes!!! They are soooo positive.....and.....Spiritual............and Loving!!!! And they bring Hope to this World!!!
This is one of my all time favorite masterpieces of music! I cried so many times during the second half of that song when I was young and first experiencing it, it is that moving. Jon Anderson has the voice of an angel and Vangelis was a one man orchestra. There will never be a combination like this duo ever again. The stars were truly aligned when these two came together, formed a friendship and then a musical partnership. I don't think I can best your one word reaction, Pope, unless I were to say "Pure perfection" which is just a variation of what you said. 🙏🙏
Thanks for turning me on to this, as an old Yes fan I'd never heard it- and it's majestic! Jon Anderson is on tour right now with the Paul Green School of Rock and they're incredible. Seeing Jon exchange energy with these talented young performers is an enlightening experience. I drove eight hours to see them in Kent Ohio, and well worth the trip.
Saw Vangelis in 1987 at a concert in Paris (France) were he played with a supporting pilharmonic orchestra. His rendition of "Pulstar" was fabulous. Saw Yes a couple of times, so that makes it Jon & Vangelis in some ways, doesn't it?
I'd love to have seen that. I first heard of Vangelis through "Pulstar". Back then, cigarette commercials were still allowed on TV, and they launched a new cigarette brand with a visually and aurally stunning series of commercials showing packs of that brand arranged as a domino run that fell while "Pulstar" played in the background. The brand was called Advance and it was the lowest-tar brand at that time, so the commercial wanted to show how "advanced" it was. Everybody got crazy with that tune, including me, and that was how I fell into Vangelis' rabbit hole.
You MUST hear Jon with Kitaro, they did 3 songs together on a Kitaro record from 92', the 2 main songs are island Of Life and Lady of Dreams. Horizon is amazing, such a great way to relax when I'm really stressed.
I haven't heard this song in many years. Love it. Basically love Jon Anderson (and Vangelis). You should check out Jean Luc Ponty and Jon also. I got to see them in concert a few years back and it was incredible. Thanks for listening to my favorite singer.
Am so pleased you covered this track. The music is sublime. So, so beautiful. Great reaction as we could see just how affecting the music was to you. And When The Night Comes is another great track I think you’ll love.
Nice reaction. Really enjoyed this video. Jon & Vangelis songs you should check out are "He Is Sailing", "Curious Electric", "One More Time", "State of Independence" and "I Hear You Now". Also, check out "Song of Seven" from Jon's second solo album Song of Seven.
Horizon is my 3rd favorite song in all music history. Only Spectral Mornings and Awaken I love a tiny bit more. Very happy for your discovery of 2 of those majestic songs. J & V made a song titled Deborah for the same album as Horizon. The most beautiful song Jon ever sang, it's to his daughter Deborah, who met Vangelis in his studio when he was recording Blade Runner.
Hi Pope. There's a yt video that I know you'll really enjoy watching. It's called "Jon Anderson recount's his first meeting with Vangelis" Dicon Dissectional Reactions reacted to it and loved it. I know you will too. It's quite the story of how these 2 met : )
Aww I'm glad you stumbled upon them, 😏 a brief history...Jon and Vangelis was a music collaboration between English rock singer Jon Anderson and Greek synthesiser musician Vangelis. The duo released four albums between 1980 and 1991...❤
You might want to check out "State Of Independence" originally a song by Jon & Vangelis but a hit for Donna Summer, with backing choir featuring Michael Jackson, Lionel Ritchie, James Ingram, Christopher Cross, Michael McDonald, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Patti Austin, Peggy Lipton and others. Please react to both versions :)
Such a beautiful piece of music. If this doesn't move and inspire you..... Great honest and respectful reaction as always Pope, and once again you take me back to my youth! Keep 'em coming brother
Dear Pôpe, Hello from France! I really appreciate your reactions. You listen first and then you speak. I appreciate this way of respecting listening. Besides, it's such a pleasure to see a young person who likes Pink Floyd, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, Vangelis, Yes, Jon Anderson, Toto etc, etc. I'm 67, so I discovered these artists during my teenage years in the 70s. Regarding the collaborations between Vangelis and Jon Anderson, I allow myself to make you listen "So Long Ago So Clear", (ruclips.net/video/qjj3Y1tuLO4/видео.html) the only song from the Vangelis album "Heaven & Hell" recorded in 1975. This song is magnificent. The whole album is beautiful, you have to listen to it in full: ruclips.net/video/R9QHqpdczH0/видео.html I discovered Vangelis in 1976 with this album. Take care Pôpe!
Pope, the music of Vangelis blew me away "almost" like the music of Genesis did in the 70's and that's saying a lot. Both... Genesis and Vangelis were from another dimension, not from this world

Jon thank you for calling Vangelis on the phone in 1974, when he was in Paris and you in the UK.
OMG….you are reacting to Horizon. Thank you 💛
I wouldn't know what to say after this "perfect" song either. The joy I get from every Jon & Vangelis composition is indescribable.

To Heaven and Beyond!
Dude thank you for checking this song in particular....
I can't think of a better fit (in modern music) from a point of view of the collaboration of solo artists, than *Jon & Vangelis.* Heaven.
Jon's partnership with Vangelis was nothing short of magical.

For me the song really gets so much better in the second half (after 9:35 on the track), then it becomes angelically beautiful.
Peace wil come Horizons

Hey POPE I would love to see you react to Tv On The Radio. "Love Dog', "Seeds' and "Mercy'. Subscriber here.Take care and keep up the great work !

Vangelis synths are alive.
'So long ago so clear' , please.

Sometimes I watch the movie "Bladerunner" (certainly a great flic anyway) JUST to chill to the gorgeous Vangelis soundtrack hehe.
Try Heaven and Hell by Vangelis
You should check out Brian Eno
Jon Anderson is GREAT. Vangelis, not so much. All synthesizer is boring.
