In the search for his missing relative, Ethan uncovers something much larger than he expected, only to meet a much bigger resistance than he ever could have imagined...
Great little short. You definitely could have used a gimbal for the outside scenes. Regardless, I just subbed you . I’m a huge sci-if fan and make sci-fi shorts as well so I’m looking forward to seeing more from you
Thanks so much! Our gimbal died right as we got to the two outdoor scenes😂😂 so that gave us that added (and very unwanted) shake. We took that first shot like 5 or 6 times trying to minimize the shake but eventually we knew we needed to move on cause we had wasted a lot of time lol
Thanks for the feedback! This was my first time writing and directing on my own, so it was a lot of fun but definitely a challenge figuring some of it out! The filming and editing though, I’ve been doing that for years lol. Trying to juggle all 4 on one shoot has definitely taught me to not do that without help again😂😂😂
@@isaackandel6591 Hey, we learn every day mate. You can still juggle all 4 if you want,. In your head, you need to think of 4 different professionals who have different responsibilities. So, suppose you are writing it then don't think about cam setup and lighting, it's not your job (as a writer), when the camera is about to roll, think as a filmmaker to set frame and other stuff, when the camera rolls you're an actor. You can be an editor and filmmaker at the same time once in a while when planning things. Hope this helps and would love to see more from you.
At the end when the cam pans back down the cars are gone. Does that mean everyone was taken or just him? Why did the lights go out but not the car lights?
First question... the world may never know... But for real lol, I didn't write that detail in because that wasn't the focus of the story. It could be either. What was important for me to show was Ethan succumbing to his greed and ultimately paying the price, while also pointing to the elaborate methods authorities will use to maintain control and power even amidst imminent danger. Second question... not so satisfying of an answer: The reason the headlights are on when nothing else is because we originally shot this shot during the evening when it was still light outside. This meant the cars driving around didn't have their headlights on, but when I colored it to look like night, the cars looked really weird and unnatural without headlights, so I added them because that looked the most natural (Cause let's be honest, if the power went out everywhere, the cars definitely would've stalled seconds ago and wouldn't be in the shot in the first place). The real solution would have been painstakingly remove the cars driving by on this major highway so the road was clear, and that was nearly impossible with the amount of camera shake and motion blur in the shot lol. So I just went with headlights so it didn't immediately give away the fact we didn't film at night. Thanks for the questions though!
Are humans the fuel they needed lol

The aliens would have to have a compatible receiver to pick up his sent message, doesnt add up , but good try .
Lol I didn’t think I needed to add a disclaimer that said “this is a work of fiction” but I supposed you can never assume with some people:)
The filmmaking is on point, acting is good too. The writing has a lot of flaws. Good one though. Kudos lads.

You didnt need a disclaimer, great job though. Thanks
It was a great short film. Liked the recording quality. The script was good, performance of actors good. Overall I’ll rate it a B.
Thanks for the rating! If you liked this one, check out some of the other short films on my channel
Looks great. What did you shoot on?
I shot this whole film on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K. I’ve had it for like 2-3 years and it’s served me really well.
Anamorphic or crop?@@isaackandel6591
