Tough decision but I'm going to go with the seal, it had a nice lingering sound to it. Excellent project and video as usual! You've given me a lot to think about for my future outdoor builds. And I think your mailbox is nicer than 75% of my projects, your stuff is so clean.
Disclaimer, I'm to poor to pay attention!! Get it, get it?!?!? Sorry for delay Bud. But with that being said... Dang Shane this one was super DOPE!!!! Top notch project Man!!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!!
Great video and project as always. Used deck stain sealer I had leftover from deck. I think the UV resistance is what has made it last. Plastic collar on the ground to protect from string trimmer.
Who knew that seals burp… An addition layer of protection for your mailbox post is a product called Postsaver. It’s applied to the post at the soil level and it really does delay inevitable rot of the wooden post.
Seal, definitely... and hey, a fellow Virginia-dweller! I'd love to try something like that for my own house, but wonder what the HOA would make of my personal aesthetic, which clashes with the "use a big-box pre-made T-format post and stain it the same as everyone else" buffoonery. I think the oil-based finish is best since you'll be able to retouch it over time as it weathers out. Question: Did you make that pump yourself? If you did, I'd love to see a video on how to do that!
Well hello neighbor haha! Yeah, we had a similar thought about our HOA but once my neighbors kicked off the new mailbox trend, I was pretty quick to hop on board. No one has said anything yet... I've been really happy with the UV oil, it has a bit more sheen than I like but it holds up really well so it's a fair trade off. As for the pump, I actually found a kit online so it isn't my design but if it gets enough attention I'll consider reaching out to the company about doing an in depth video
@@TimberBiscuitWoodworks Yes! Please at least post a link to the kit - That's likely the most inexpensive option for a vacuum system... which someday I will need if I keep watching your stuff! On the HOA, I generally look at the mailed notices, put them on the desk near the trashcan, and then if it becomes an issue, I call/email: "Sue me."
It’s called the project v4 and it’s about $300. It works alongside an air compressor to create a constant vacuum. Haha, luckily our HOA is pretty lenient with the stuff we can do in the neighborhood.
In your video I noticed a pair of red roller stands. I was wondering where you got them from and the brand name of them. I am in need of some and those ones look pretty good.
The valve. I don’t know how you make miters look so good, mine never fit like that. This was a really cool idea, I have been wanting to try veneer and hadn’t considered using a vacuum back so thanks for the tip and inspiration. The final product looks great buddy!
Seal! Dude, this is the nicest mailbox I’ve ever seen, I love how it complements your planters. I haven’t ever considered using epoxy for veneer but it makes a lot of sense for outdoors. Thanks again for all the tips, and of course the jokes!
Yeah, it's pretty wild. Most of the super fine furniture you see is all veneer. It's the only way to get really consistent and figured grain today because the most figured logs all go to veneer mills. I have a few builds coming up where I'll dive more into it but thought this was a good one to get started.
@@TimberBiscuitWoodworks wow interesting! I assumed they were just just hardwood panel glue ups but not always the case it sounds like. What type of wood typically will try Veneer? Baltic birch?
MDF and quality plywoods like Baltic birch are good options. From what I have found, a lumber core laminated with MDF then veneer makes for a super stable piece. I plan to explore that in the near future.
What projects would you use veneer on?

Haha, thank you man, I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Seal, I literally have nothing to ask or anything but I can boost for the algorithm
Greatly appreciated! 😀
Valve for me.
Great build, Shane! That Missouri joke got me real good too 😂
Looking forward to seeing you do some bent lamination projects 👍
Haha, thank you! Yeah, there’s a few in the sketchbook right now that I can’t wait to try.

Haha! A person’s attention can be some of the most valuable currency there is. I appreciate it as always my friend, cheers!
That vacuum bag really sucks the air out of the video. Seems to leave things pretty.............empty.
Hopefully it didn't leave a void that can't be filled.
Love your jokes, I’m glad I stumbled on your channel! Thanks for making good content
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!

I appreciate it! The plastic collar is a good call, I worry a bit about hitting it as well.
Oh my gayz, i just got the fudging pun at the end of ur videos. Sigh... im upset with myself over it now.
haha better late than never!

Haha no doubt! I saw that the other day actually at one of the big box stores and thought it would have been a good idea to give it a shot.
Seal, valve, not sure, never tried veneer, but good think you have it held down with concrete. That mailbox is good enough to steal! Well done.
Haha that could work too, and I appreciate it!

I vote for the seal. I, too, would be interested in more info on the vac kit. Nice looking mailbox.
Thanks man! And noted.

I got both off Amazon, here's the link: amzn.to/3rl7Smt
They are pretty light weight and work well for larger workpieces.
Best looking (fancy) box in the neighborhood!!!
She’s a looker haha, thank you!
The seal... valve just ain't as cool. Also, lol @ misery :)
Haha, I thought that was a fun one. It took my wife a second to get it.
Do you ever watch any of Sawyer Designs work? He does a lot of laminate work.
Yeah, I actually know Nick personally. He’s an awesome designer.
@@TimberBiscuitWoodworks awesome. I just finished his tambour doors video on his new build. Just looking at it makes my brain hurt.
Your channel is criminally underated.

You can do it! I actually didn't hate working with the epoxy on this one either. And it sped up the wait time quite a bit.

No problem! 😀
Looks great
Thank you! I’m thrilled with the results
Seal 😂
It's so good hahaha!
Seal, what vacuum pump setup is this?
It’s called the project v4, it works in tandem with an air compressor.
