2023 LATEST UPDATE & my experience in KE7 vs RH
Prince George's Park House (PGPH) no longer exists and has been replaced by three new houses: Helix House, Pioneer House, and Light House. These houses are situated in the same location as Prince George's Park RESIDENCE (PGPR), but in different blocks.
The main difference between HOUSES and RESIDENCES is their selection criteria. Houses have a few interest groups. They are optional to join but you will have a higher chance to get a stay if you are capable to contribute to these activities. Hence, to apply for a house, you will need to fill out a portfolio form, indicating what you can contribute to the residential community. (Having outstanding leadership experience can be an advantage!!)
However, residences such as PGPR and Utown Residence do not require a portfolio. You can secure a place in these residences without any co-curricular achievements in your first two years (international student's 2 year guaranteed stay) However, in your third and fourth years, you must join NUS CCAs and get nominated to their quota for these residence housings, and having top positions can be safer.
If you are willing to join CCAs, halls are a SAFER option to secure as long as you have enough points each year. This way, you will never get kicked out. ><
You can also be the cluster leader (like a floor leader) of PGPR or Houses to continue your stay.
other than that, you can try to apply to be Residential Assistant every year when NUS sent out the application email in Feb.
Residential Assistant usually manage Utown Residence and PGPR --> U DONT NEED PAY HOSTEL FEES but you can't leave singapore too long for holidays because technically you are a staff who needs to work on student's vacation too.

My experience in KE7 vs Raffles Hall
KE7 is nearer to Kent Ridge MRT but Raffles has a few public bus stops around. (bus services end later than mrt iykyk)
KE7 is nearer to Business School (2 stops) but it's very easy to get around anywhere with the free school bus.
Raffles take 5 stops to Business but the bus is much less crowded than the bus from KE/PGP to Business so the ride is more comfortable.
So i don't think the distance between Faculty and Hostel matters a lot actually!
Raffles is also situated at the heart of NUS, very central location.
I can walk to Utown, Science field, University Sport center, gym and swimming pool all within 5 minutes!
so it's a very good bonus point if you are an active person!
Both hall only take your CCA points from your TOP 4 CCAs, so 4 CCAs with sound commitment are enough
IMO, raffles are more vibrant and eventful, i think because their CCA need to do more things to get points

Nice video ZS. I spent 3 years in Temasek Hall in the 90s. Best times of my life. Yes, back then TH was already know as Sports Hall and many of us were sports people. Eusoff was more culture hall then. KE7 always chill hall. Now I hope my daughter can get to NUS in 2 years time and try staying in the halls.

it’s been 6 years since i graduated! i stayed in KE years 1-3! can confirm KE is very windy and cool. the stairs never bothered me. i rarely took the lift for classes also. there’s so few lifts that taking the stairs is faster. we were so fit back then. PGP is now a hall??

老实说我也不确定eusoff and temasek在文化上有什么区别 外人看起来就说是一样 据说是那些运动员们看朋友在哪里就一起选哪里😂
刚刚问了Raffles的朋友 他们说房间厕所那些都很新很干净哦 假期也有在装修一些设备
只有gym不是很新 不过raffles对面就是university sport centre了 走路可以到 然后巴士隔一站 也就是utown了 那边是NUS最齐的gym
如果你比较注重新旧 PGPH的房间是最新最美的哦！ 去年年尾才装修好
不想花太多时间的话应该会比较适合PGPH吧 不过要注意的是全部halls都是有明确的point system 只要达标就有望住满四年 PGPH虽然最新 不过他的评分制度比较不一样比较模糊 (portfolio) 据说是参与PGPH的一些commitee像rag那些会有帮助

actually kent ridge is easier to get in than sheares or temasek hall for the past 3 to 4 years! you can ask your jcrc to check with your hall master/osa to confirm this actually :)

Hiii sorry i just received rejection from my hall application (first choice was temasek double…probably too competitive) so would like to get some advice before i appeal, which nus hall is easiest/easier to get in? I just want to experience the hall life for a year🥲🥲

奖学金会给每年$5800的allowance哦 然后看你自己选什么类型什么价位的宿舍 比如说hall double room就是最便宜的 所以会剩下最多的零花钱😊

Halls的全部免费 只是dryer每次20 cents
应该只有kent ridge hall & PGPH 的洗衣机和dryer 每次需要付费$1
RC (不确定是不是全部) 和 Student residence 也是$1
那通常你们会用烘干机吗？不用的话有地方晒衣服吗？
其实我没什么用过烘干机 可以在房间晒（影片背景中的小晒衣架）或者是房间外的晾衣架 看个人习惯哦！
除非每天下雨 没有办法了我才会用烘干机 （不过也可以在房间晒）

Hihi! How do you join CCAs is there any chance that we will get rejected after applying
U mean applying CCAs? Depends on your hall and their CCAs! Some committees require interviews and some sports and performing art CCAs require trial / audition too! If don’t need, just sign up to be their members😄

根据我的观察 个人认为 如果说录取的话比较看学术成绩方面 奖学金才会考量各方面 包括比赛和课外活动记录比较多

学姐你好！请问第一次去Sg quarantine 费用是多少？学校有帮忙reimburse吗？
我2020年7月隔离两个星期的费用是$800+$200 covid test （自费！）
原价是$2000++的 不过新加坡政府对学生有补贴 应该是因为政府大学（NUS NTU SMU)
现在隔离天数变21天了所以不是很确定哦 可以去看看ICA移民局那边的最新规定～
