Hey! Funny how you ask this because a cricket just invaded my room a night ago (but all's good, I graciously escorted it out my door). I've kinda learned to co-exist with the *wildlife* here so I don't really view it as a problem hahah Most times bugs just come into my room to die.. and lizards show up but I'm okay with them because they mostly stay out of sight. I haven't encountered any snakes so far (hopefully never will!). The main issue I have is the number of ants around though! You'll definitely encounter insects and bugs here, but hey, if you ever need help escorting bugs out your room I'll help? hahah bring bug spray, some ant traps and mosquito nets (all of which I do not own but hey I'm still surviving!) and all will be ok!
@@XingWei aaaaa thank you so much for the reply!! I’m really scared of anything loud and flying (beetles, cockroaches, moths) or spiders bc they can jump, but I’m actually very happy to room with lizards (cute friends, eat bugs) and okay with ants because I have faith in ant traps from my own... current home 💦 I used to catch crickets as a kid but I’m somehow more afraid of them now(?) And I’m definitely bringing a mosquito net with me ✨ It hasn’t really hit me that i would meet you if I ended up at rvrc but wow :0 I would :0 That sounds fun! Aside from the bug thing! And I think I’ll just go for it and deal with the bug issue later :’^)

Hey! I'm an international student and I applied to NUS for this year's entry, i'm gonna receive my decision in mid-July, which seems a little intimidating since it's so late and so near to when college starts. Could you explain how applying/receiving offers for residence halls works for students who get their decision so late?
EDIT: Thanks to a viewer who notified me the deadline for RC is 13th April, not the 8th like I previously commented! GO APPLY GUYS Hey! Yeah I was super worried too when I applied because I was under the impression I’d get my decision in July (but I got it in May). Which type of accommodation are you most keen on? For RCs you have until 13th April (like super soon hahah) to apply but for halls and residences applications open 4th May (you can refer to the application periods section of the video!) Rest assured as an International student you’d be guaranteed a place to stay :-) So long as you apply for hostel stay in May you’ll have somewhere to stay.
Very informative vid, thanks a ton! Non-related question but how long did it take for you to get a response on your uni application? I applied in early Jan and I have no idea when I'll get a response lol. Also how's the WiFi in your experience and do they give you an option to use ethernet?
I applied in February and heard back in May! I was expecting to hear back in July though, so definitely keep a look out for news in your e-mail. WiFi here is fine but not the best because it disconnects regularly :/ Using ethernet would help for sure! I don't know about other RCs/halls but for RVRC there's ethernet ports in every room + you can request for a LAN cable to use!
hello!! can i just ask about the toilets? are they very far from the room? kinda scared about needing to go toilet in the middle of the night haha. and just to confirm how many showering cubicles are there, would we need to wait to shower? and there’s no shower head right? oh and I saw one of your previous vids- is there still construction ongoing/going to have construction? thank you for your help!!
Hey! I'll be speaking for RVRC old blocks (there's also a tower block with different room/floor designs) but this may not be the case for every RC/hall. Every floor will have a shared washroom so the distance to it it really depends on which room you get! My room is not the nearest to the washroom but then again, the walk from the furthest room to the washroom isn't too bad to begin with (you can check out my first week of being in Singapore vlog ahahah I THINK I included a part where it shows me walking to the washroom) There are 3 shower cubicles. So far I haven't had any experience of having to wait! And there's a showerhead :-) No construction going on now, it happened over winter break because that's when there aren't many people staying. Hope this helps!
Hi! Ill be a chs student this year, may i know which hall would be most convenient? And if i choose to stay in a hall thats further(heard temasek hall is good but might be far) do u think it’s still not a big problem since there’s campus bus avail? Thank u so much in advance!
hey! yeah the buses are really convenient so if Temasek is really a good fit for you, go for it! I'm not too sure how CHS will be like + where lessons will be held etc. but if it's anywhere near FASS Temasek is a good location!
PS can you apply for accommodation before getting a decision?? The application portal for this year says that application deadline is till June, and even the offer acceptance deadline is mid-June (which is still a month before I receive my college decision) I'm so confused, bah!!!
Sorry can I,,, ask- how is the insect problem/ snake thing at RVRC? I’m thinking of applying and I’m pretty interested but I’m kind of scared of that

Hey! You'll have to wait till you graduate from your pre-university programme (A-levels, IB, etc.) to apply to NUS
