This is a blessing to me. I visited Assisi on New Year’s Eve 1982 and stayed for some days. Illness came calling two years later and I have been unable to return since then. To see these images is the next best thing so they bring me a mixed blessing. One is delight, and the other is pain that I will never see it again or experience the peace which surrounds it.. Thank you Rick and God bless you.
Absolutely beautiful place ,very historical buildings and well presented , thanks for the info ,veey informative thank you for sharing WATCHING FROM FLORIDA
i dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Axton Mathias Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
FYI, the first minute of this video is not from Assisi, but taken at Convento delle Celle (Eremo Le Celle) just outside of Cortona. Definitely worth a quick visit if you are near Cortona.
He was a joyful guy with love for life until he was sent to prison during war and got severe Malaria. The illness turned him inward. After being released he became aimless, he seemed to have lost focus of his life, he had acute personality changes. Now, Malaria mental consequences are acute anxiety attacks, acute confusion states, acute personality changes, delirium, moderate or severe depression, conduct disorder and psychosis among other things. If his personality changed dramatically, it's showing one symptom of the illness which is: acute personality changes mentioned above. If his illness was severe while in prison, plus the depression he might have experience for being shut out in the darkness for a year, I'm sure he might have had many of the Malaria mental consequences. If he suffered from delirium and psychosis he could have imagined hearing a voice in the ruins. It also says he had recurrent cases of Malaria through his life. Maybe his conduct disorder took him to the people with Leprosy getting infected himself within time. Leprosy also attacks the nerves. I'm sure he was a nice person who tried to help others, but I don't believe in his calling. I think it was all consequences of his lifetime illness. Joan of Arc is also now questioned if she really heard a voice or if she had schizophrenia.
What hypocrisy when St. Francis was about humility, simplicity, and was focused away from material goods, and seeing what the Catholic church has become hording all that material wealth. That humble chapel dwarfed by the huge church was against everything that St. Francis believed. Oh well.
The non-Catholic Rick Steves is the last person anyone should listen to about St. Francis. He like so many romanticize him & paint a false picture of who St. Francis of Assisi was. And that's exactly what this video is doing. Also... our Catholic Churches are NOT architectural museums. There Churches! But thanks in part to Rick many of the secular tourists walk through the Catholic Churches in Europe as if they are museums showing little respect for God's presence in the tabernacle of the Church. Rick never tells people this. "Woe to them who die in mortal sin; Blessed those who shall find themselves in Thy most holy will, For the second death shall do them no ill.” ~St. Francis of Assisi “And in all the preaching you do, admonish the people concerning penance and that no one can be saved except he that receives the most sacred Body and Blood of the Lord.2 And while It is being sacrificed by the priest on the altar and It is being carried to any place, let all the people on bended knees render praise, honor, and glory to the Lord God Living and True.” ~St. Francis of Assisi

1939 . . . Mussolini's Italy lol
pope franciscus....., NOT named after Franciscus of Assisi ,..but named after Franciskus Loyola , founder of the dark Jezuït order.
You've confused Francis with Ignatius of Loyola. Several centuries and countries apart.
