No matter the genre, no matter the production style, EXO vocals will always shine through. That sizzle you mentioned that sets them apart from other groups- I call it MSG 😂 Other groups just lack that flavor, and Exo got all the sauuuuce. Not only are they sangersss that can hit the notes, riffs, runs, but they are true artists able convey emotion and play with their tones and vocal styling. This song has been recently been covered by a lot of young groups for those idol competition shows, and Exo recently performed it in their 11th anniversary fanmeet to show everybody how it’s done properly 😂

Your comments reminded me of D.O. mentioning how the first line he has in Growl was supposed to sound one way, but he decided to sing it differently when they recorded it because he thought it would sound better. Fast forward to today, it’s one of the highlights of the song. So while I’m sure they are given the lines to sing a certain way, I think because EXO is so musically inclined and confident in their abilities, that the engineers/producers allow them to play around with their vocals/adlibs because they know the outcome will be great.

Do Kyungsoo is just incredible in every sense. He is one of the few vocalists who can make your heart flutter and cause a storm of emotions. He manages his deep voice and sweet timbre with such ease that the same part can sound completely different "starting very roughly and ending unrealistically gently". Kyungsoo's unique voice gives each song a unique charm. I'm ready to listen to his voice as much as I want.!
