What if there are both brackets in the numerator and denominator and the question is asking you to simplify it further?

The answer to the final question 6x + 2 is the denomoninator? (3x+1) + (3x +1) , isn't it?
When we add fractions the denominator says the same eg 1/7 + 2/7 = 3/7
