I've been running the hookbill now for around 2 weeks, both on T0s and T1s. And I'd like to share a lot of insight I've learned regarding the abyss, especially Frigate abyss. T1 Abysses require a MINIMUM DPS of 150 to consistently clear. That is... you can stop dying because of a lack of DPS. There are 3 rooms that typically make this a requirement: The Overmind, Karybdis Tyrannos (Karen), and Lucid Deepwatcher. Primarily The Overmind and Deepwatcher, Karen kinda falls somewhat faster. If you get 3x of any combination of those two, any less than 150 dps will actually die to the timer. Keep in mind... this 150 dps is actually a requirement for any non dark room... darks require a bit more dps. My navy hookbill fit with LMs hits around 170dps and I get out with 5 mins left sometimes. I had one overmind that run... so be careful. I can share my hookbill fit that can (for the most part) consistently clear T1s with LMs: [Caldari Navy Hookbill, T2 Dark Hookbill 3.0] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Small Shield Booster II Small F-S9 Regolith Compact Shield Extender 1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner Small Compact Pb-Acid Cap Battery Eutectic Compact Cap Recharger Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II Light Missile Launcher II Small Processor Overclocking Unit I Small Bay Loading Accelerator I Small Thermal Shield Reinforcer I Nova Fury Light Missile x1346 Inferno Fury Light Missile x1500 Mjolnir Fury Light Missile x1679 Scourge Fury Light Missile x870 Very similar to loru's, but with some dps modifications (primarily the bayloading accelerator). Try to get some cheap missile implants as well to bump that dps up. I currently hit 170. I am omega, but I don't believe I have any omega-necessary skills currently. Now... onto the enemies. Many rooms in T1 abyss are basically "kill them before they kill you". Such as the drone rooms, damaviks, etc. 1xDevoted Knight / Lucifer Cynabal - You have to "get under" their guns to avoid most of their damage. For the knight, you can outrange it with LMs, but the cynabal will get up close and you cannot outrun it. So just approach and orbit 500m, you should negate a majority of the damage. If you don't do this, you can die. - Use Mjolnir against the Knight, and Nova against the Cynabal Abyssal Overmind / Karybdis Tyrannos / Lucid Deepwatcher - Approach them at an angle, and then just orbit 500 (or any distance that isn't too far really). You will take 0 damage. These fights are just dps checks, so be prepared to wait in agony as they die lol. As mentioned... Karen isn't as bad as the other two. - Use Mjolnir against the Abyssal Overmind's shields, and then use Nova against the armor and structure. I also like to overheat against this enemy. Kikimora / Tessera - With LMs you can simply run the other direction and outrange. Especially in darks. If they catch you... you will take lots of damage. For the kikimora it looks like they will catch up, but they turn off their mwd as they approach turret range.. so keeping them at range is doable. - Nova or Mjolnir works against the kikimora, but I'd advise Nova because you may also get a damavik and Nova is good against Damaviks Damavik (any type) - These guys are just annoying as they get up to you. They do stacking damage but it's usually never a problem in T1. - Use Nova to do the most damage. They're armor tanks. For the most part if I missed anything, always check damage profiles. For anything I didn't mention here I use scourge because they do the most paper dps, and for any uniform resist profiles, scourge is the way to go. Sometimes if the enemy has only 10% less resist to a certain damage type... it's not worth it to switch from scourge because the raw dps may match or even surpass the slight dps buff you'd get from resistances. Anyway I hope this helps anyone that needs it ... going to T1s was daunting af but now I figured it out! P.S. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND SWITCHING FROM LMs TO ROCKETS IF YOU CAN. Rockets can get up to 200+ dps with alpha skills. You just need to get close, so it can make some rooms problematic (3x devoted knights lol). But it's a great step up for Alphas. If you're Omega, I recommend getting a Hawk. Both LMs and Rockets work on a Hawk as well.
hey I'm a newbro. 4th day in rn. A friend that had been playing for a few years got me into this game so I have his permission to use Corp Isk wallet for fits. I have 3 things I want to ask about: 1. It has 239.2 dps but is substantially slower than the Hookbill (max velocity 600ms). Is this able to clear T1 consistently? I can grind t0's easily so if I do lose my ship, I can just grind the T0's for the ISK but that'll take a hella long time lol. So sorry if I'm being too cautious xD
@@thatasianguy1880 Hey! Forgive me as I haven't played eve in a few weeks (been busy) 1. This part is tough. I think I may have ran some minor cpu-related implants... they were ultra cheap though if I did. 2. Missile skills. Get all the missile skills you're able to. Also make sure you're using T2 missiles such as fury missiles. 3. I would not recommend a caracal as a T0 frigate fit would bring in more money than a T1 Cruiser on average. You can avoid all the damage from Tyrannos if you just fly toward him at an angle. For the newbros, all you have to do, is zoom out, hold "Q" and click in space to manually pilot (aka not approaching/orbiting) in space. Cannot express enough how nice a fast frigate or mwd fit on a cruiser is for T1+ abyssal. Not using all your time to get to loot the excavation nodes is wonderful. In my gila fit i give up on most of them 80km plus away simply for time reasons.
@@lorumerthgaming dumb question but does the mtu work on loot in abyssal? Go to orbit the main cache, blow up extraction nodes on route and drop mtu once you start orbiting. My recommendation is to ignore frigates when you first start doing abyssals if you are a newbro unless you're running with a group of friends because it is much harder and there is way less room for user error (especially in t1 filiments) than with a destroyer or a cruiser and you will have a much easier time learning the ropes with a t1 fitted destroyer like the corax, the algos, or the thrasher. The only destroyer I recommend avoiding starting with is the coercer because lasers have high cap demand and are damage type locked so if you don't know what effects certain filiments have you can find yourself in trouble burning through your cap or hitting like a wet noodle, not to say it can't work but you need to be picky about what types you're running.
what i do to reduce waiting time for 16d skills, i create a new char, do the AIR missions where i get the 50k,75k and 100k sp and redeem them with my main char. this ways you need like 2 days in order to complete AIR Programm for industrial and enforcer and can complete the 16 days skill directly.

Hmm, can be that it changed, but 12 - 13 years ago, I've always been told to never ever mix active and passive tank! As well as never mix armor and shield tank. Why not go full passive and try to cramp a medium shield extender in? Then a few resistance mods like the multi spectral shield hardener, maybe a reactive shield hardener and you should be good to go! Or go with shield power relayd (hope that's right, haven't played for many years and am blind now!) and bugff that shield recharge rate up, ideally over the dps of the enemies :D
Yeah, that's more like it. I stiil think taking a destroyer to T1 is a waste. Hookbill is a completely different story. Just a couple of thoughts. You sure can use light missiles, but I'd siggest trying also rockets. You can still kite pretty much everything, but the damage application is much faster. I did both and I find rockets more comfortable. Because when you come to darks, you'll spend much less time reloading if you need to adjust famage types. And that's actually my second thought - just go to Darks. Larger ships won't be able to hit you at all, if you don't go straight to them. The only thing that'll really test you will be Devouted Hunters, Devouted Knight and the Cynabal. The rest is not that scary. Oh, and one more thing - don"t bother with additional nodes, if you can't loot them on the go. They rarely have anything good. All in all Hookbill is great for T1, much better than a Punisher. Use code Loru and keep up the good work.
I tried it 4 times with higher DPS TechII missiles; TechII EM shield extender, but always were shot to pieces...skills was the same or better. 80m wasted. I don't know what i'm messing up but this build just doesn't work for me.
@@andynewport3465 skill diff? learn your enemies weakness, what missile to use etc and what he's saying is if you can't do the t1 better stay at t0 and learn how to play and fly your ship since he already lost 80m lol
Another great video! I learned a lot. I actually don't need 2 overclocks to fit it, so what would you recommend to put instead of the 2nd. More dps? More tank? Thanks so much for the help! Edit: Built this fit, minus the 2nd overclock, then took it out for a test run on some anomalies and immediately got a 60 mil drop. Lucky ship!
In most rooms you don't need to orbit at your maximum range. It's better to orbit as close as possible at your maximum speed to increase your angular velocity.
Really nice video! Got 3 runs in and it was pretty smooth. Until i hit a the Skybreaker Disparu troop... I just couldnt break his tank with the light missiles, I was trying to find a way to have better application by orbiting then kiting but nothing worked. I had 102.6 dps with Nova missiles although i would have been better off with scourge Is there a trick here to get this guy?
skybreaker is a dps check. you need higher dps. try using exotic filaments as they have bonus to kinetic and use scourge. if you have alot of isk, the worm would be a far better choice and if omega, the hawk is superior to hookbill at 40m a pop including fits.
Missiles don't care about your speed or angle when it comes to application. Not a lot you can do with your own piloting to increase missile damage. The only thing you can do to increase damage on missiles is slow the enemy down, make their signature bigger or make your missiles' signature smaller and increase their EXPLOSION velocity (not normal velocity, that helps their range.) Of course you can also directly increase your damage and rate of fire. So that means increase your missile support skills that help their application and damage. The Crash booster increases missile velocity, there are implants that increase explosion velocity and reduce their signature penalty, increase damage and rate of fire. There are rigs that do the same. As for modules you have Ballistic Control Units for damage, target painters increase enemy signatures, webs slow them down and there are guidance computers you can script for explosion velocity. Use whatever combination of options here your skills, ship, and wallet allow to squeeze as much damage/application you can out of em! Hope this helps! Oh and here's EVE Uni's missile mechanics page if you want to read more indepth about everything yourself: wiki.eveuniversity.org/Missile_mechanics
mmm the short answer is: try something different every time to see if you can break it, WHILE training new skills. some rooms are going to kill you when you are new, but as you grow your character, those rooms will break. it's a great feeling!
@@lorumerthgaming it works without since you need the skill-time only for about 20 minutes per toon (40 min per day) but its only "actual profitable" by taking advantages of NES store discounts. i personally just use it to supply extra SP (100k/day) to my main and get omega for free.
Punisher is also a ship that (with the right fit) can handle T1. Do you have vids on those? I've done hundreds of T0. Never die with kestrel or punisher. T1 is totally different though...I've been in only a few. Don't have a fit I'm confident with yet. Loru eh? I'll check out the store... O7

Where did you get the 17.5hps from on that ship? Drug boost, skill or some other booster or something else because my build only shows 6 to 7hps base?
Also if anyone would like a Rocket Build with high dps and similar shield setup,

best eve streamer ever, by far
Sheesh thank you 😊
I am just glad to help you and this growing community 🙏
Use code Loru and keep up the good work.
will def check them out!! good points
dont directly approach the Tyrannos, spiral in. Maintain transversal, then orbit, he cant track you.
there it is
I tried it 4 times with higher DPS TechII missiles; TechII EM shield extender, but always were shot to pieces...skills was the same or better. 80m wasted. I don't know what i'm messing up but this build just doesn't work for me.
Try doing t0's!! Abyss is all about knowledge, fit is secondary
Haha so it doesn’t work and he says try tier zero’s 😂🤣
It's good advice because each tier is a big step in difficulty, and you have to know each enemy's range, if they have webs, and weaknesses
Lucky ship!
Huge!! Easy money time
I would fit more DPS if the tank is holding!
I had 102.6 dps with Nova missiles although i would have been better off with scourge
Is there a trick here to get this guy?
skybreaker is a dps check. you need higher dps. try using exotic filaments as they have bonus to kinetic and use scourge. if you have alot of isk, the worm would be a far better choice and if omega, the hawk is superior to hookbill at 40m a pop including fits.
Oh and here's EVE Uni's missile mechanics page if you want to read more indepth about everything yourself: wiki.eveuniversity.org/Missile_mechanics
mmm the short answer is: try something different every time to see if you can break it, WHILE training new skills.
some rooms are going to kill you when you are new, but as you grow your character, those rooms will break.
it's a great feeling!
you can just use another toon in the same eve account to farm the SP instead of buying them .. takes about 1 hour and 2.7million isk to do.
true, but then you have to pay for mct
@@lorumerthgaming it works without since you need the skill-time only for about 20 minutes per toon (40 min per day) but its only "actual profitable" by taking advantages of NES store discounts. i personally just use it to supply extra SP (100k/day) to my main and get omega for free.
8+K subs!!! Congrats!!!!
Yessir!!! Thanks so much, here's to more 🍻
10:11 i love your videos... but what is wrong with the gameplay abys colors? They look way off :(
color vibrance can be a hell of a thang in post processing, if that makes sense 😌
yessir!! use code 'loru' :D check back soon for a abyss laser playlist!!
o7
The hookbill gets a 25 percent bonus to kinetic missile and rocket damage
it really does
Whats next? A caracal? Cause i have one with 337 dps with hams and a large shield booster(also do you plan on showing the devoted knight room?)
you will see very soon 😏
do you need omega for these skills
Man there was a marshall dude and it almost killed me holly, how do you fight him?
More skills! And make sure you in a T1, I haven't seen Marshals there yet
@@lorumerthgaming I found them again, it was the Attacker Marshal Disparu troop, it did a lot of damage with missiles, but I figured that you can defeat him by kitting stay as far away as possible, I think he can only hit below 30km
let's hear it for the alpha bro struggles o7
yayayaya o7
Hi there!
Can you please tell me, why do you use faction missles and not t2?
cause this vid is geared towards lower skilled alpha's
@@lorumerthgaming oops, my bad, thank you
Gud day Commander thanks for the Kronos skin was 1 of the winners never won anything till know... can a Caracal do LvL 1 abyssal filaments
yessir!!
we may have a Caracal vid coming 😌
/Moai Loru, do you have plans for a Hecate video?
Some say it stinks for PvE just for PvP.
I won a cool Hecate skin from you and I want to show it off without going POOF!
i really do 😈
you will see!!
SWEET!
Something you failed to mention.
Big ships, big health. I have died to the timer the most because of very tanky ships and there is no going around them.
How do you handle those?
the short of it is: you made need more skills.
keep training and trying t0's for now for consistent isk.
you can practice in there as well, and see how you can be faster in t1's over time!
Very nice fit, but cannot counter abyssal overmind. Had two in one run, died to time. not enough dps
hmm, keep training those skilss!
@@lorumerthgaming I’ve got missiles maxed out
so as a new starter the skills alone will take me 133 days and 6 hours....
no way it takes that long, you dont need to train everything to level 5 to do well
10k, baby!
My missiles only does 100-120 dmg and i got timeout killed.
gotta get better skills, and keep practicing
HOW MUCH COFFEINE ARE YOU ON BROTHER?!?!?
A LOT BROTHER
And now, let´s go to T2 Abyss? great
very cool 👍
you
@@lorumerthgaming me
Well well well, the hookbill, I love that ship, like I love USE CODE LORU and hopefully he loves Lota Faginna!
well well well 😎
You are entered in, friend 👏
I’ll stick to mining, this is too much stress
abyss is def stressfull haha
i have almost maxed alpha missiles and 130 dps with this fit, 150 when overheating ... and barely making it in 20 minutes :/
so my profit is around 15-20 M /h
you gotta keep trying to fly around in better ways then, I can breeze through these t1s.
focus less on getting all the loot and get out everytime instead
Thxx for the video bro.

you got it friend!!

Gotta try that ship.
do it

99 DPS with like 16 days worth of skill research.. lolz
Gotta start somewhere 😏
The 100dps will get this ship killed in some rooms :(
Yes, but you will still make plenty of ISK. Gotta spend $ to make $
Not enough dps for t1 even with maxed skills.
and yet ive done it many times
Da-MA-vik
probably right 😌
the faster you can go, shouldn't that equate to the closer you can get? after all, if you're further away, the easier it is to track. here is my condor that i run lvl 2 security missions in.

Use code loru solo elektron
You are entered in, friend 👏
You forgot to say that you have to be in a fleet of three frigates to do the calm gamma
not correct, the abyss costs 3 filaments if you are solo frigate, 2 filaments for destroyer, and 1 for cruiser.
hope that helps!
@@lorumerthgaming I'm still having to fleet up (even though its a solo fleet) at least thats the behavior im getting with my client.
