Hello sir. Thank you for the lecture. Very informative and easy to follow. I had a doubt in the georeferencing process. Longitudes basically run vertically and latitudes run horizontally. While entering the GCP values we entered longitude value in X and latitude value in Y. So my question is are 'X' and 'Y' used as alphabetical representations for the two values or are they the 'X axis' and 'Y axis'? Also, it is written East beside X and North beside Y. The nomenclature is a bit confusing. Kindly explain.
thank you for your feedback, Answer for your Question is that Values of Longitude increases Horizontally so we added longitude in X and Values of latitude increases vertically so we entered value of latitude in Y

Sir,We are downloading a toposheet from Google earth Pro or Survey of India it is assumed to be georeferenced
Toposheet you will get in Jpg or Pdf format but if you want to any analysis like digitization of contour from toposheet, Drainage or want to calculate area then you need to georeference toposheet
sir i did followed the same procedure as shared by sir but during georeferencing when I tried to find the map in google earth pro its landed next to sir Lanka sea. I m from Bhutan. Anything did I, the wrong sir. Help needed sir.
Please check have you given propper coordinate system and projection to the image

You need to create shapefile first to crop area, then after creating shapefile you can use extract by mask tool
For SOI Website, OSM may be Open Series Map & not Open Steet Map (As mentioned in lecture). Also, Toposheets downloaded from SOI Website are password protected. So, these PDF files cannot be opened in QGIS directly. What is the procedure to open them?
