I hope to visit Hillsborough soon. It's where my 5X great grandfather Captain Benjamin Merrill was hanged along with several other Regulators for fighting unfair taxation by the crown. In that house I saw cardboard cutouts of Jamie, and Claire Fraser from Outlander series which depicted the circumstances and events of the battle that eventually led to the Revolutionary War. Grandaddy was a badass!
That’s such a neat little town. I definitely want yo visit. Ayr Mount was one of several homes owned by the late Richard Jenrette who created Classic American Homes Trust to preserve them. I’m sure it’ll be worth the return visit to see. Thanks for sharing this, Chris
The Burwell School site has a very interesting and unique relationship with Somerset Plantation State Historic site in Washington County. Well worth the visit to that site then circle back around to the Burwell School aka 'the beehive'...

Quaint little town! FYI, Sherman and Johnston became friends after the war, and Johnston served as honorary pallbearer at Sherman’s funeral.
Oh yea I think I've heard that. Very interesting for sure. I know Longstreet and Grant were friends also.
