Hey Jay, Thru-Hikers don't own the AT... others enjoy it too. Please be open to others enjoying it. I thought it was great to see day hikers up on Franconia Ridge.. laughing and enjoying their accomplishment .. most likely they did the 9 mile loop which is no joke for a day hiker.
I have had the privilege of hosting these two at our home. We chatted for hours on end. They are just as genuine as you see on the videos. That’s for sharing your adventures with all of us. The clouds were like icing on a cake. They only made. The views even better.
@S M thank you so much. I look for your comments each day as well as they're so uplifting and encouraging. It's a beautiful honor to help people like Jay and Tina as they love life to the fullest. Cheers to you as well.
I am Don, (or Donald) Barron's father-in-law, his wife is Shannon and we have been loving all your awesome videos of your AT Thru hike. I understand that's you and Barron's path's have crossed a few times. Stay safe and again thank you for sharing your amazing journey with all of us!!!!!
Jay, learning so much from your videos. Enjoying Tina talking more..lol. if she didn't already have "pocket rocket" she should be "smiley". Always a smile and good attitude!! Onward!!
You are so lucky to have great weather. Beautiful views. The picture you took of Tina at the end with the mountain peak off to her right was spectacular. The colors and detail of her in the foreground with the peak in the background was special. That should be hanging on your wall at home.
Your camping platform reminded me of the one at Maul Hammock in the Okefenokee Swamp. Leaving Kingfisher landing it's a 12.2 mile paddle thru the swamp to Maul Hammock. The chickee at Maul hammock will hold 4 free standing tents about a foot apart . That's available space under the cover , the open area might hold two more but that's where you cook and eat. That 12.2 mile paddle was in a all day rain and our night there the rain turned into ice so everyone was under the covered area till morning. Maul hammock chickee is the tallest item in the area and because of that it's the buzzards favorite roost. Next closest item ( & next campsite ) is 12 more miles in the swamp to the Big Water chickee. A chickee is a wooden platform with a partial sloped roof ( some don't have roofs , just open platforms ) and open sides built above the water and surrounding area. It's the only available dry area in a swamp or parts of the Everglades in Florida.
Gotta say, from 14.20-14.52 is perhaps the most beautiful sequence you've filmed (at least top 5 or 10). Wow. The music was just perfect aswell. On another note, I can delightfully tell you that RUclips's auto-translation thinks your huffing and puffing while hiking steep upwards is - applaus!! So take each of your heavy breaths while hiking upwards as a way for your body to applaud you...?! Perhaps a better thought than "goddamnit why do I breathe so hard, why am I not one of those who just skip along easily upwards the steep trails?!" that I usually think during steep hikes...😁😁
I had the opportunity to do the Whites with my daughter last summer. We hiked from Lafayette to Washington. The hike from Greanleaf Hut (just below Lafayette) to Galehead Hut down Garfield Ridge was hard. I'd rather go uphill in the Whites than down. Boulder hopping is no fun on the way down with wet rocks. Have fun.
WOW - that opening section is rocky and steep! Reminds me of hiking in the Wind River - Bridger wilderness mountains in Wyoming.

I'm still catching up in the series 😊 but I love "Have Fun Hiking!" and I hope you continue to use it because you clearly have fun and I intend to have fun on our thru hike too! I'm LOVING your videos but it's so hard for me to resist seeking peeks at your most recent uploads because I don't want spoilers! Like Pocket Rocket, I'm catching up to you though! 😁
When you showed us that rocky uphill at the beginning..... I saw Quadzilla walking through early this year, the trail was full of ice and snow and YES there IS water flowing under and between those rocks Jay, when it starts to melt... very dangerous terrain, constant wet feet and yes those are micro-spikes marks! Now that I'm on the end of your video, found it fun that you mentioned Quadzilla lol What a gorgeous view up that mountain, loved your music choice of today!!
Franconia ridge has been one of my favorite hikes in the Whites! I'm so glad you got such clear weather to enjoy the amazing views. Thanks for sharing your journey and enjoy the rest of NH!
About the girl washing her jacket with soap by the water source….she epitomizes the words of Forrest Gump, “Stupid is as stupid does.” I remember the hike up to Franconia Ridge…..Rocky, rocky, rocky! There is an adjustment you can make on the GoPro so many of the spots in the photos don’t get washed out/over exposed. Really enjoy when Tina talks…….she adds so much interest to the video!
Beautiful day for 'have fun hiking' LOL. I think this is the best vlog yet Jay for mountaintop views. Beautiful job with the music in the mix - it makes us feel like we're right with you on the trail. I've been thinking about you for the past couple days wondering if you had to contend with the extreme weather that we've had here in Maine. Please stay safe and happy trails fellow vet 😀
Jay - When it super hot I turn my hat around backwards and I literally feel 3-5 degrees cooler (unless out in the sun but you are in the woods most of tome on the A.T.) . Backwards hat to be cool not necessarily to look cool... lol.
Your video was wonderful today. I felt like I was there. Thank you for all of the time and effort that you put in to create these for us. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. What am I gonna do when you finish? I’ll have to go back and watch your other adventures.
Hi Jay & Tina! It’s interesting how, when you get to the top of a mountain, it looks like the ceiling overhead is low. You are definitely seeing some amazing sights! We have enjoyed following your trek.
So glad to see that you had a beautiful day for Franconia Ridge. It truly is a gem. It was great to chat with you both over in Vermont the weekend of July 4th. Enjoy the rest of your journey. ~Mouse and Isis
they were the most increadable views iv`e seen so far & theres been alot of them. the 3 times iv`e been up mt. washington was in the fall & all 3 were beautiful days. i hope u can get a clear day up there. u two r doin great.
A familiar place for me. I done the Franconia Ridge 3 times . On a Saturday and during the week. Totally different without the crowds. Soap at Liberty Soring Campsite. I've seen a tent in Garfield Ridge Lean to. People! Lots of views coming up on the Presidential Ridge Traverse.
Beautiful day for a hike! Lovely views. 😊. I love looking at those escalator steps 🤯😳🤯😳 it all looked like a hard day for you both! Enjoy some rest with your neighbors so close??? 🤔 See you in the morning! Hike on!! 🇺🇸🙏🏕😊💤😴
No, you and Jack don't look alike. Good grief people. Sigh. I really loved this video -and am catching up, again. Tina makes it look so effortless. No wonder her name is Pocket Rocket. Thanks for sharing, as always. Have fun HIKING. (yes you should)
Phew, I thought the 1600ft in 1.5mi fire road I've been climbing regularly was steep. 21%. As steep as a 4x4 maintenance truck could be expected to climb anyway.
Wow! Incredible views!! You’re editing really made this video even better. We’re doing the Pemi Loop this September and I hope the weather will be as great.
Great scenery and the weather for you was cooperative. Have seen other hikers videos from there when the wind was really whipping. As for the rock scramble, how have you done keeping your camera from getting banged up?
I wouldn't be happy sharing a platform and being really close to another tent too. What about a closing tagline with the word 'wander" in it? Also, with this being your Day 170, how many days has it been for Pocket Rocket?
At the summit of Mount Lafayette; Look, I’m an annoying, loud and buzzed day hiker, Hahahahahaha!!! “” chugs Beer “” Hahahahahaha!!! Belch!! Hahahahahahaha!!
Up Liberty is well known as the "Stair Master". The popularity of hiking the 48 4000 footers in NH combined with folks who get a special award for hiking in winter (and folks who do "the grid") will result in micro spike marks on rocks... especially on those trails leading up to those mountains on the list. You were luck to have done Franconia Ridge on such a nice day... and NOT crowded... some days it is like a conga line.
Let people enjoy their day hikes and laugh and live! You have many months of being on trail to enjoy the solitude! On the other hand, the woman washing her clothing in a cautioned piped water source is inexcusable!
Jay, I’ve been fallowing you from the AZ trail. You inspire me to get out. I have to say that I was a little taken back by your comments about the people laughing and having fun at the top of the mountain. It looked like your a little antisocial. We all that watch you know that there are many people out there with you and others enjoying the trails. I don’t think it wrong are less of you if you show them. I feel like you want it to yourself and it’s wrong if someone else is there. I love to see you and Tina together and I would like to see you both on the mountain tops and in the towers together and at the vistas. Don’t get me wrong, I like the times that it’s just you and the thought of being out by myself, but it’s okay to be with others. I hope to see where you go next. Don’t stop sharing your adventures.
These comments are ridiculous, how can you be surprised that a person who does long distance hiking in the wilderness becomes annoyed by the noise of large crowds of casual tourists? He has every right to feel the way he does, just like the crowds have a right to laugh and be excessively loud.
I dont know why people have to be so loud , constantly talking..it would be so nice if they enjoyed the" sound of silence " so we could to! Enjoying your hike from the start 😊
Because soap is bad for nature (harms the ecosystem, insects and microlife) and certainly bad for the water spring if others want to get water from there later. Noone wants to drink soapy water.
I love hearing people laugh and having a good time, warms my heart.

I couldn't agree more with you. I had the privilege of treating them to dinner and they were so down to earth and fun.
@S M thank you so much. I look for your comments each day as well as they're so uplifting and encouraging. It's a beautiful honor to help people like Jay and Tina as they love life to the fullest. Cheers to you as well.

I love hearing Tina's thoughts on you hike too. Thanks for taking us along.

Beautiful views. Thanks for sharing. Tina I love your hair down.
You two have such great smiles!

I’ve been waiting for this one. You did not disappoint with your videos. Thanks Jay…and Tina too.
Nailed the weather on this one! Beautiful views. 😎
Great views and beautiful music in today’s video
Ty for gr8 views and shots of challenging route

Oh, and no question about it, Jay: your tagline MUST be "Have fun hiking!" 😁😁
What fun to see Tina being a ham!
Amazing clouds
Love the views on this part of the trail!
Jay, I agree with you; crowds of people out hiking and enjoying nature is good, but being loud and obnoxious is a drag. Thanks for taking us along.
You guys had great weather! So beautiful. I liked that shot where you were walking towards the camera so we could see you navigating the trail.
I had the opportunity to do the Whites with my daughter last summer. We hiked from Lafayette to Washington. Atta guys 💪
Love Franconia Ridge!
That’s why we are called the Granite State
Beautiful weather and views! And those clouds, wow. Thx for sharing!
I love how when Jay says: it was a tough day, lots of up and down. Tina replies: yeah, it was really fun!
Jay and Tina….wow, such beautiful footage. I’m so jealous! But happy that you had such a nice weather day. 😊.
I love those clouds they look awesome.
The time-lapse stuff is a nice touch. Happy Trails!
We missed you by a day! We hiked Mt. Garfield last Friday. It was beautiful,
Beautiful. It brings back memories of past hikes - thank you. Enjoy the rest of the hiking.
A work of art. Just beautiful footage, pics.
Thanks kindly.
Happy Trails

Girl in the woods says SHE GONE!!
And don't forget to get outside and get happy! 😊
This is your best video yet. Quite the adventure
Enjoyed your video and views
Ive always wanted to do the Whites. I throughly enjoyed seeing it through your eyes. Absolutely stunning.
Your video was wonderful today. I felt like I was there. Thank you for all of the time and effort that you put in to create these for us. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. What am I gonna do when you finish? I’ll have to go back and watch your other adventures.
Do it! The PCT vlogs are just as awesome. 🙂
You two are the first videos that I’ve seen this far north! Thank you, it’s so beautiful!
Hi Jay & Tina! It’s interesting how, when you get to the top of a mountain, it looks like the ceiling overhead is low. You are definitely seeing some amazing sights! We have enjoyed following your trek.

Great video as usual. Love the photos at the end!
Just think, when you started your hike in February those peaks were covered by feet of snow.
Busy day on the mountains.......wow..alot of people...looks like a beautiful day with plenty of views...
Good video with lots of great beautiful views, some bad rocky mountains climb, so let's keep on hiking..
Ha! Jay, you have been in the woods too long. You have forgotten how to tolerate the general public and all their annoyances. 😆
You were very fortunate to have such a nice clear day on the ridge.
Beautiful footage of the AT…there is nothing like the White Mountains!
I am watching Amethyst and Mishaps videos....they just started in New Hampshire..should be fun to see you two meet up with them and filming it...
they were the most increadable views iv`e seen so far & theres been alot of them. the 3 times iv`e been up mt. washington was in the fall & all 3 were beautiful days. i hope u can get a clear day up there. u two r doin great.

Beautiful day for a hike! Lovely views. 😊. I love looking at those escalator steps 🤯😳🤯😳 it all looked like a hard day for you both! Enjoy some rest with your neighbors so close??? 🤔 See you in the morning! Hike on!! 🇺🇸🙏🏕😊💤😴
I remember that climb up to Mount Liberty. It was a tough, rocky one even when we were young - a long time ago! 😂
Did you find yourself wishing for some of those PCT switchbacks? They add miles but it’s much easier on the body. Big day!
No, you and Jack don't look alike. Good grief people. Sigh. I really loved this video -and am catching up, again. Tina makes it look so effortless. No wonder her name is Pocket Rocket. Thanks for sharing, as always. Have fun HIKING. (yes you should)
Great job guys, back in my hay day I've hiked that ridge probably 24 times, its was one of our must do each year.
Beautiful photography!
Phew, I thought the 1600ft in 1.5mi fire road I've been climbing regularly was steep. 21%. As steep as a 4x4 maintenance truck could be expected to climb anyway.

Wow. What a fabulous payoff for almost 2000 miles of hiking! 🙂
I don't care what y'all say, that looked like a lot of rock climbing to me! :)
Thank you Jay and Tina, appreciate you my friends 🙏hope you're doing well, stay safe and take care ✌️ 🙏
What a perfect day for the ridge. 😍
Great scenery and the weather for you was cooperative. Have seen other hikers videos from there when the wind was really whipping. As for the rock scramble, how have you done keeping your camera from getting banged up?

That's a really good mic on that camera.
Would putting rubber tips on your poles help with the rocks?

How in the world did they get that concrete to the top of that mountain? Hmmm…🤷🏼♂️ Another great video thank you for keeping them coming!!!
Let people enjoy their day hikes and laugh and live! You have many months of being on trail to enjoy the solitude! On the other hand, the woman washing her clothing in a cautioned piped water source is inexcusable!
Haha I said the same thing. Connect straight down cablecar would be great. All the rock steps are not for my short legs.
Jay, I’ve been fallowing you from the AZ trail. You inspire me to get out. Hikers that break the rules, just make things worse for everyone. No need to be a rebel on trail!
I dont know why people have to be so loud , constantly talking..it would be so nice if they enjoyed the" sound of silence " so we could to!
Enjoying your hike from the start 😊
Understand where you coming from a lot of people go up there for the beauty and peace and quiet
People don’t know to be quiet in nature
Love the Whites, except to many crowds of loud people 😕
Sorry to be asking but why is it bad to wash your jacket with soap in the woods?
Because soap is bad for nature (harms the ecosystem, insects and microlife) and certainly bad for the water spring if others want to get water from there later. Noone wants to drink soapy water.
Love the time lapse cloud shot over Owls Head!
