      Libellula Washington Thank you ! The big pastels are Art Spectrum Studio size. They are great for big work but unfortunately I don’t think they are available anymore.

    Unusual that the paper is on all the sticks as you paint! I tear off all paper when I get my newbies, which is all the time!

      I tear off the paper once I've swatched, as I need to know what colour I'm using when I make notes or re-order!

    Sorry for my lack of understanding but is this dry pastel or oil pastel? I think it is dry pastel but then I see the pastels and some appear to be in the form of oil pastels. The branding doesn't help as I never saw these brands. I'm also not that knowledgeable about pastels - I just decided to try it and bough some student grade dry and oil pastels.

      Hi Jose. These are all Soft Pastels not Oil Pastel. The two don’t usually mix. Think of it like Watercolour and Oil paint. I’m not sure what you mean b6 in the form of Oil Pastel. Both come in round sticks. Hope this helps a little.

    Amanda's art is wonderful. I was disappointed that there wasn't more time on her drawing close up.

      Yes, I agree. There's not a lot of point for me in watching an artist work, if I can't pick up some pointers. Much of the time I just couldn't see what Amanda was doing with the pastels.

    The one thing I hate about pastel paintings their fragility. The need to at least double mat, and frame behind glass makes them very expensive to produce and to sell (i.e. ship). The few t times I have used pastels I ended up spraying with an acrylic medium and mounting like an acrylic with no frame. Of course the colours can change so you have to be careful of that, and you can no longer enter the work into a pastel only competition (as far as I know). Just wondering if Amanda has any thoughts on that subject?

    • @amandamcleanfineart2764
      @amandamcleanfineart2764 6 лет назад +2

      Third Dimension Jewellery I almost never spay my work, not even with fixative, so never with acrylic. You change the nature of the medium and essentially turn it into Gouache or something similar. You lose that gorgeous powdery bloom that makes it such a beautiful medium. I also would NEVER frame without glass as it would be a dust magnet. Every medium has its pros and cons. I can put up with the fragility because of all the positives about the medium.

      Admittedly, it does turn it into something different. Like you said, pros and cons to them all. Anyway, your work is beautiful so you keep doing you!
