  • In this video I have partnered with The Royal Mint to tell you all about their 2022 Gen Z Investment Report.
    16-25 year olds are set to invest 9.4 billion in the new financial year, with over half (55%) choosing to invest up to 20% of their monthly income, with 19% having invested in precious metals.
    This month I made my first investment into gold via The Royal Mint's DigiGold platform, a way of buying digital gold, backed by real physical gold bars.
    I hope you enjoy this video, and if you'd like to find out more about DigiGold, visit: www.royalmint.com/digital-inv... or, the precious metals academy:

      Thanks for checking out the channel Roger!
      From a search - ‘All gold bullion sold by The Royal Mint including The Sovereign & Britannia ranges are VAT free for non VAT registered private individuals.’ So sounds like it’s VAT free.
      In terms of selling I’m unsure, as I’ve never sold. I assume it would also be VAT-free.

    Heya, do u know if its better to buy the gold physically or digitally. I would think if x platform goes bankrupt or goes down.. your gold investment is gone?

      I’ve done it digitally so far! But - Both physical and digital gold are backed with real gold with The Royal Mint 😄

    Thanks. This looks so easy! So you buy the gold, with I guess the intention to sell? Does it tell you how much the value increases?

    • @MakingMoneySimple
      @MakingMoneySimple  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for watching Leslie! I tried it myself and it’s very easy 🙌 I’m buying with the intention of holding. And yeah it does tell you the value of your holdings as they increase/decrease!

      Do your research on the topic. You clearly do not understand the value of precious metals if you are asking questions like that.
      If you want to invest to protect your money from inflation and return a profit in the long term, gold is your best investment. If you want to simply protect your money from inflation, silver is the best investment, silver is THOUGHT to increase in demand and value in the long term, so I would recommend buying some gold and some silver if you're just starting out, you're protecting your wealth from inflation and setting yourself up for a hopeful increase in demand.

    For me it does not make sense to invest in the Royal Mint in Digital Gold.. The fees are too high per year. You might as well invest TAXFREE in a Gold ETF on Trading 212 with ZERO fees. The Royal Mint charge 0.5%. So on £600 you have to pay them £3.60 a year to hold your Digital Gold. Not ideal as there are also fees to sell 1%). Does not sound so good now.

    • @Dedicated_.1
      @Dedicated_.1 2 года назад +3

      I think the Gold ETF is not risk free because there’s no physical gold backing in a 1:1 way with the amount of gold provided on paper exchanges.
      It’s kind of like a bank not having money so that you can withdraw your deposits. If everyone tries to withdraw at once, everyone’s going to be left with nothing.

      I was thinking about more physical gold, but it makes more sense for digigold as you can sell it instantly. Perhaps both?
