  • Thank you for my viewer, Dianna* in Australia, for her awesome insight! How to choose the hooks? Where to find materials used for smaller projects. A size 7 hook varies in sizes. Let me clarify in this video on how to pick and choose the materials you use for your projects. *Sorry for mispronouncing the name!
    Below is a starting point on where to find products. I use Amazon because they ship worldwide. I hope this helps all of you when beginning on your crocheting journey. If you have any questions or comments, please post them in the comments section below!
    Thank you watching and learning. I appreciate you!

    The reason the size 7 is 1.65mm is this is a size 7 "steel crochet hook".. vintage patterns for lace and crochet thread refer to steel hooks that have a very different sizing altogether.

    I have smallest size thread like the yellow pink n violet in ur video (small 4 balls)so what size needle should i use for it and can it be used for crocheting hair accessories

      You can use small hooks like a B or C. I also use a 1.7MM hook. If you want to go smaller, it may be wise to get a magnifying glass! After a while, it can strain your eyes. Hope this helps.

    So I am using a 0.5mm hook and embroidery floss that I split the skein in half (so 3 strands instead of 6, but I've done that too with a 0.6mmm hook). I have also used sewing thread to crochet some things and would really like to know if there are any brands that have a more durable equivilent of these or if I just need to stick to them.

      Great question. I don't know of other brands off the top of my head. You can Google some or go to a hobby store and see the various types. It's not always easy to crochet with floss/thread, so another avenue is search for customer reviews. See whst other people are using. I hope this helps

    Hello, what size hook do you use for thread 20?

    • @CrochetbyNatalieLucille
      @CrochetbyNatalieLucille  2 года назад

      Thank you for your question. I use tiny hooks. The one I use most is a US 5 / 1.7 mm hook. It works well with thread and floss. I hope this helps!

    Hello! What size hook do I use for size 5 an 8 yarn thread?

    • @CrochetbyNatalieLucille
      @CrochetbyNatalieLucille  Год назад

      Hello Elly! Anything less than 2.00mm hook would be fine when you are working with size 8 thread. The smaller/thinner the thread, the smaller the hook size (less than 1.00mm). When I work with tatting thread, it helps to use good lighting and reading glasses!

      Hello! There are floss and thin threads you can buy for smaller projects if you are making something like earrings for example. In the description box below the video, I have shared links to the different threads and floss I use like embroidery floss, crochet thread, tatting thread, etc. That will direct you to the thread and you will see the different descriptions and sizes for each. I hope this helps.

      If you are still interested after all this time the channel Red Heart Yarns has a video 'Crochet Thread Basics with Aunt Lydia's' that is helpful. The largest ball in this video is a size 10 (Aunt Lydia's brand). The small balls in this video with the number 8 on them are the equivalent of size 20 in Aunt Lydia's . The small balls with the number 12 on them are the equivalent of size 30 in Aunt Lydia's. The embroidery floss thickness depends on how many strand you are using. If you are still just starting out use a size 20 or 30. True thread crochet uses an extremely fine thread size of 50 or 60 and a .5mm hook.
