Strawberry Letter 23, Stomp, Get The Funk Out Ma Face, I'll Be Good To You, Ain't We Funkin Now, Blam, Running For Your Love, and many more are my favorites by The Brothers Johnson keep them coming man.
Louis Johnson played with bassist Stanley Clarke's album in a dueling bassist solo. He was very respected as a great session bassist. My favorite song by Louis Johnson is actually on Michael Jackson album Off The Wall. The song "Get On The Floor" Louis Johnson's bass playing shines.
personally one of my all-time favorite groups. Bought every album from their 1st through 'Light Up The Night[ in high school. Louis 'Thunder Thumbs' Johnson.
I’ve always loved The Brothers Johnson. In fact, the 1st record that I ever bought as a little kid was ‘Strawberry Letter 22’. Louis Johnson is my favorite bassist of all time. And my favorite songs by The Brothers Johnson is: ‘Get The Funk Outta My Face’, ‘I’ll Be Good To You’, ‘Stomp’, ‘Strawberry Letter 22’, ‘Streetwave’, and ‘Light Up The Night’!
From the first time I saw and heard them on Soul Train in support of Quincy Jones 1975 album "'Mellow Madness" on the track "Is It Love That Were Missing" I became one of this dynamic duo's biggest fans. I love all of their pop music, but I am particularly partial to the 12 inch version of "Get Tha Funk Outta My Face" and the 12 inch version of "Anit We Funkin Now."
The Baddest bass player ever was Louis Johnson but for some reason he is never mentioned that way...listen to that bass line on Michael Jackson's 'Triller' and 'Get on the floor'
@@sylvialawrence4431 I like that you know that they are not the original artist. I didn’t know that until I was in my 30s. (The 90s) I like the original but love the Johnson’s version because of the Lee Ritenour guitar work.
I fell in love with them when I read about their "Strawberry Letter 23" album in Ecesence Magazine. Once I found their album that was it for me. Every time an album was released I had to have it! 😎
I love all their songs, but my favorite Brothers Johnson song is "Ain't We Funkin' Now" off the Blam album. Now (I'm chuckling), I'm white, and I was on the air working in Urban-Black Radio for the majority of my radio broadcasting career. I've been jammin' "Rock-n-Soul" since I was a kid! Today, I'm retired. George and Louis most definitely deserve to be in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame for all their fantastic contributions to contemporary music!
Thanks again for a great presentation. Here in the UK Brothers Johnson were very popular in mainstream discos but also with hardcore contemporary soul fans such as at Blackpool Mecca and Cleethorpes Winter Gardens. Love Strawberry 23
One of my favorite is, I'll never leave you lonely, with get the funk out of my face and strawberry letter 23- I had a choice to buy a sandwich or buy the albums, the music won. I had to have it. Infact, when I bought strawberry letter 23, I didn't have anything to play it on at the time. I had to take it to a friend's house to play it because I knew he didn't have it yet
Thanks for the video, you've did a good job with it. I wanted to throw a name out there,if you will. Ray Parker Jr. Had a group called Raydio, it'll be nice to see a documentary video on them, or (unsung) Thanks for all you do.
My favorite is "Stomp." The music video of the titled song is absolutely one of the best music videos ever featuring the entire band performance and dancing scenes. You can find it here on RUclips!
@3:34..I remember sneaking to the radio and turned from the Christian radio station to Disco back in 1977 as an 8yr child...tho I think it was more like 1978.. My parents went grocery shopping and the girl next door was babysitting my siblings and I. Stomp, gimme a man after midnight, I was made for dancing... That night is still a big part of my childhood memory today. StarWars was a big movie and the Best Christmas catalog was part of a wish list that year. Those was the good ole days, R.I.P to both my parents.. Thank you for this brief moment in history....11:53am(11-2-24)❤💯👍
Yeah it's 1980, I'm 5yrs old kindergarten got little whooped every Monday morning an it seemed like the song Stomp was always playing on the radio! Lol!!
Loved it! Been a long-time fan of theirs too.Sadly Louis has passed away but his music will forever echo in our minds and hearts. But what about George? Is he still in music? Is he producing a younger lot of tamented musicians? The brothers have always had a fine sense of musicianship. Please give us fans a heads-up and as the brothers would have said back in the day: funkadelala😊
