As someone who speaks a fair amount of German but certainly not fluently (more or less B1-2 level) I'm grateful for your breakdown of how till uses older terms. I didn't know what Zähre for the life of me and appreciate not only the translation but the explanation as well

As an American, I'm not fluent in German, but Rammstein teaches me. At least I can sing to the lyrics by memory

I am German but I love your explanation of the structure of the lyrics. I did not know the word "Zähre". Thank you for your explanation 👍

'Zähre' also looks/sounds like 'Zähne', so there's yet another connection to Mackie Messer :-)

What a great video! Even though Haifisch was among the first of Rammstein songs that I had translated word-by-word and then read all the references that I could found on the web, it was very interesting anyway. Wir/uns structure, to take an example -- I didn't notice it, and it is beautiful indeed!
As of "Sechs Herzen die brennen" -- most probably a reference to Mein Herz brennt. Till started self-referencing his lyrics early on, and later they started the same with videos, outros made from piano versions of other songs etc. (Of course, Mein Herz brennt itself alludes to Gorki's Danko legend, but it's heavily reinterpreted, like any other their external references to Goethe's works, Struwwelpeter etc).

This is one of the first songs I could sort of understand German in, but my Deutsche sprache is sehr schlect. (That is probably spelled all wrong) But, LIFAD is one of my favorite albums and this is one of the best tracks on it.

Rammstein isn't easy to understand even as a German native because they use so many layers, wordplays, old language.

Does anyone know this song? It's lo-fi song, and the main tune based on the sample from the last few seconds of Rammstein - Haiflish where Till is in Hawaii (which is a softer acoustic guitar version of the main melody from Rammstein - Rosenrot)?

Is there any difference between "Hai" and "Haifisch"? And great video! VlogDave 2024!

    • @Daveinitely
      @Daveinitely  2 года назад +2

Not really. 'Haifisch' is considered a bit more colloquial though.

Ich hab mit Rammstein nichts am hut.
Das liegt am 'sound', der mir so gar nicht liegt.
Der text, den Du hier besprichst, der ist hingegen gut, da geb ich Dir recht!
ich werd mir den song also anhören!
    mal sehen was daraus wird!
    Danke für die horizonterweiterung!
*ein tag später:* habs mir angehört. Ich bleibe dabei, der text ist toll, sound und gesang sind nichts für mich!

I'd like it if you could once translate a song literally. As German is backwards and you fix it for English. But I'd like to see it written and spoken as it is in German. 🙂👍
