I’m in the boat of I’ve studied for years and know a lot of grammar and can understand intermediate texts and articles but cannot speak at all. Everyone says to just think in Korean but I don’t know really how to do that. When I try to speak it’s always simple sentences and I forget everything I’ve learned. Listening is hard to follow also unless there are Korean subtitles to read along with. Id love to do tutoring if I could afford it.
You need to practice making sentences 🥲🥲 As I mentioned in the video, when you learn a new grammar point, it's important to create numerous examples to really get comfortable using it in conversation!!! The Korean sentence structure is different from other languages, so unless you practice making sentences enough, it will be challenging to feel confident speaking in Korean. Try translating simple sentences from your native language to Korean. It’s normal to struggle with thinking in Korean if you haven't practiced translating enough from your mother tongue. You can practice forming sentences on my website, which is free. There are also many other free resources available online(use chatGPT as i did), so don’t give up!!! Start practicing translation from your native language to Korean first, and you'll see improvement over time
For some reason I'm on the opposite boat. I can't really understand Korean without hangul subtitles. But I'm only 5 months in learning the Korean language! So it'll take time. Thanks to your videos I will surely be fluent in Korean. 감사합니다.
Oh, five months is nothing!! Yeah, we also speak very fast haha. You need to expose yourself more to Korean media or RUclips!! I had the same problem with Spanish since I barely watched anything in Spanish🤣😂 Even now, I'm only good at understanding Peruvian Spanish lol

Hi, I really liked your video and the tips you provided! I have a few questions, just to clarify if I understood the method well! 1.) Write the sentences I want to know how to say in korean, in my native language (english) into ChatGPT 2.) Memorize the korean sentences 3.) Look at the english translation and then try to translate it, as in write the sentence in korean to make sure I memorized it? 4.) Once I got these down, I change a few words and see if I can write slightly altered korean sentences from the memorized sentences 5.) I can also ask ChatGPT to come up with 10 frequently used sentences or so in korean(?) using a specific korean grammar and memorize them 6.) Then alter those sentences slightly so I can practice using that grammar I hope I understood it well ㅎㅎ
That's a perfect summary!!😊😊 awesome job! Actually, if you consistently practice translating any sentence, it gets easier to understand Korean sentence structure and grammar! If you keep practicing translating from your native language to Korean, eventually you'll be able to speak Korean directly without translation👍. Don’t forget to follow along while watching RUclips videos too! Shadowing is important as well :)

First, watch with subtitles(understand the concept, get to know some words that you don't know) then switch to watching without them. Download one video too, and listen as much as you can - that'll really help you improve!

I just use the normal version! chatgpt.com/ < this one! If writing is the easiest for you, it means you know how to form sentneces in Koeran, you just need to go out and start speaking more! You can also practice spekaing with Chatpgt, download the app and try having conversations with it!! 🧡
선생님, 감사합니다 for adding the "Korean - Korean + English" option. 🎉 I have tested this on 3 platforms and discovered the followings: 1) It is working fine on computer browser. I used Safari browser on Sonoma 14.6.1. No abnormal behaviour. 2) It is working on RUclips app on Android phone. But perhaps my Android version is old (v11), the corresponding latest RUclips app (v19.43.36) exhibits some weird behaviour with the subtitle. After an advertisement popped up and disappeared, somehow the video will automatically switch the subtitle to Korean only. I'll need to manually switch it back to Korean + English. 3) It isn't working on iPhone RUclips app. This is based on iPhone RUclips app (latest version 19.44.4, on iOS 17.6.1). When trying to select the subtitle, you'll get "Error loading captions" message and no subtitle will be displayed. Just some observations for your reference.

Chat gpt makes lots of mistakes hahaha nlg, so its always good to have Korean natives to help you sound more natural!
