I got halfway through this before realizing it had just 200 views, and wasn’t some popular video essay from the likes of Jacob Geller. This is amazing and I’m excited to see what you do in the future.

Thank you! Jacob's work has been one of my biggest influences since the beginning, so this means a lot.

This essay really connected w/me. Night in the Woods was such an important game for me back in high school. It got me through a situation that really tough mentally and physically. I'm always so glad to hear other people be helped by it too. I honestly need to give it another playthrough as I'm sure it'll probably help me where I am now since I'm in another huge period of change all these years later.

I have a similar experience with Night in the Woods. I was temporarily working in the US after a hurricane hit and i had to drop out of college to get a job to help mom out with money. I related to Mae quite heavily at the time and knew that if I ever returned home I'd feel the same way she did. Everything changing but somehow staying the same.
Great video, glad to hear of similar experiences ^.^

i always thought people lied when they say stuff like this but when you showed the pictures of your family/friends at the end i got really emotional and started tearing up, what a beautiful video. found your channel a couple of days ago and really enjoyed every video of yours i’ve watched, thank you for putting your videos out there for people to see and I sincerely hope you’re going to get all the success or whatever it is you’re wishing for most through your content. truly incredible!

Loved the way you weaved together your personal experiences and perspectives on the games mentioned, especially because I think that's the lens through which we all view media, to an extent. It kind of reminds me of how FromSoft's titles helped me to deal with a more difficult time in my life, though I suppose that's not really a wildly new take, haha. Hope to see more.

Gosh, this got me really emotional. You’ve created something very beautiful here. Your own stories intertwined with the various games and your way of storytelling are absolutely mesmerising and speechless. Bless you

Have to say, the perspectives given here are both things I can see someone in that kind of situation going through and completely new viewpoints on that kind of experiences. That's sort of what makes these experiences unique- We all go through them in different ways, and we all have our own ways of coping with things like loneliness and isolation, even loss. And relating to media or even just putting yourself in a character or multiple characters' shoes is something I can relate to all too well. My experience with the pandemic was just a long stretch of doing that, trying to process my own feelings of isolation and loneliness through games and stories. Great video, always here to support the channel and be there for more.

Just finished your video, and wow! This is exactly the type of video essay I absolutely. Incredibly well-written, personal and insightful. A lot of the things you touched resonated with me a ton. I hope the RUclips algorithm ends up doing its thing and pushes your video to more people because you absolutely deserve it.

I had started and stopped playing Night in the Woods my first year of college, but I think it's about time I finish it. I think I was afraid of it revealing some long lost emotion deep within me that I wasn't ready to come to terms with, but after watching your video I think I might be ready now.
Thank you for creating such a beautiful and vulnerable piece of art, I'm so excited to see what else you will share of your journey! Wishing you happiness and contentment!

sometimes an experience or a story can really lodge itself into your life, both of these games got me too, its been years but theyre still there, they bring me back to the times i was going through back then, who i was and who im becoming still

I bought mother 3 a couple years ago, got a setup to dump gba roms and played it with the fan translation. It was right around the time the game ended that my father passed away. I think the tale of hope and tragedy helped me process everything so far. It hasn’t been that long honestly and it’s still kinda horrific. But life goes on.

Night in the woods' explanation in and of itself is heart and gut wrenching. But just. Knowing you and knowing us. It's devastating.
